I appreciate the input ladies. Many thanks! I'll be looking for both the Gyles Brandrth and Caroline Graham books. That should hold me for a while.

I agree with the other posters here about the books of Tyrrel, Wilson, Graham and Brandreth.

- the Tyrrel book is a mix of bad tabloid stories,
- the Wilson book is the way a big Diana fan and supporter writes a Camilla book
- the Graham book is very ´Camilla-friendly´ but deals more with fiction than with facts
- only the Brandreth book is built of credible sources and seems to me as balanced as possible.

There is another book in German () from 2006:
Tatjana Gräfin Dönoff : Camilla
But unfortunately it is such a bad book. Her source was the German yellow press, i fear. (I wonder how she gets inside Birkhall to be present while the Prince proposed to Camilla )

(One day i hope to write a better book....)

I don't think Christopher Wilson is a Diana fan, because he is quite negative about Diana in his book as well. I think he is more to be a republican person or a critical person of the styles of this current royal family. His comments 数about the royal family are always quite negative to me. I do have one point for him: he is the pioneer in researching Camilla's genelogy and information of her forebears, other information of his book is most from the "downstairs group".

There is another biography written by a Frech author after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. I have only read the chinese translated version of it, and the title of this book is "the secret passions: Charles and Camilla".

Here are the Chinese simplified information about this book.I hope that someone would be able to find out the French information.

书名:秘密的情人
作者:[法]洛尔 希尔兰/著 孙凯 春洁/译

Default Princess Mary/Queen Mary Gift Books

I had the great good fortune to pick up two books over the weekend, the Princess Mary Gift Book (dated during WWI) and the Queen Mary Gift Book. I'm paging through them cautiously and admiring the plates more than anything; the illustrations are remarkable.

Each has a series of stories in them that are fairly tame but entertaining as well.

When I get some time, I'll try my hand at scanning and uploading - a first for me!

As a bonus, I picked up a book that is overflowing with pictures of the Prince of Wales' journey to Canada and the US, as well as several other nations, from the post WWI-years. The book is not specifically dated, but one picture shows the Prince visiting the grave of the late President Teddy Roosevelt, who died in January 1919 (partly of grief over the death of his own son Quentin in combat, in 1918.) There is a hand-written overleaf by the Prince which approves the book and its purpose in supporting those blinded in WWI.

I won't tell the price of the books, but I feel a bit like a thief. :-)

Best to all...

Default Princess Camilla Winner Takes All

Hi. I was wondering who out there liked/didn't like the documentary Princess Camilla Winner Takes All. This is only for those of you who have seen the documentary, and is about the show itself, not about what Camilla did/didn't do. Also, please tell me why you liked/didn't like the show.

i saw it on the Channel WE, I liked because it does give some insight into camilla. love her or hate her, she is a normal person.

the only thing I didnt like about it was the title... If she the winner...who's the loser...Diana????

I think the title is poor, very poor taste. In fact, it's tackiness beggars description. I have no problem with the reference to Camilla as "Princess". It's what she is, as wife to the heir to the Throne.

But WINNER TAKES ALL?? Was this some sort of game we are talking about?? We are talking about a very tragic and sordid period in the House of Windsor that left two marriages destroyed, two children semi-orphaned and one woman dead at the prime of her life, not to mention the loss of respect many people had for Monarchy.

Charles has done a generally wonderful job as Prince and as a single father to his children, and Camilla has married him and they are finally living honorable lives as man and wife.

But there are no real "winners" in this story at all, IMO.

The title of "Princess Camilla" isn't accurate, either.

Do you mean this one?

Amazon.com: Queen Mary's Photograph Albums: Christopher Warwick: Books

Not that there's much information there, but there are a couple of second-hand copies for sale.

I have read this book, it is quite good but most of the photographs have now been printed in more recent biographies.

Default A SPIRIT UNDAUNTED by Robert Rhodes James

I've recently finished reading Robert Rhodes James "political biography" of George VI and am interested in discussing it here with anyone who's interested. What I found fascinating about it is how much influence a monarch can have while still being within constitutional bounds.

Here's the Amazon page for this book.

Default War of the Windsors.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through War of the Windsor by Lynn Picknett, Clive Prince and Stephen Prior.

It has let me in on a whole new look on the royal family!

Anyone else read/or is reading this book?

GEORGE VI BY JUDD- here a book that provide a human profile of this king, who in his own words was only a naval officer when he arrived to the throne.

There's "The Royal Train: The Inside Story" by Brian Hoey, published October 2008.

Here's the cover: The Royal Train
