April 2007: Babies, babies, babies

Spring is here. For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, the days are getting longer and warmer - and we can finally think towards being outside without heavy jackets, mittens and a scarf.

In the spring the stork migrates home - and in Denmark people and newspapers keep a lookout for the first stork of the year. In Western culture the stork has become a symbol of babies - and the topic of this spring newsletter is the babies that either have made an appearance this year, or the babies we're waiting for.

Two years ago - we also covered babies in our newsletter. Then it was a slightly bigger scope to it - Royal Babies

We hope you enjoy the spring, or for those of you in the Southern hemisphere, autumn.

As before - there have been some changes in the moderating team this past month. Elspeth - one of TRF's administrator decided to step down from the administrative team. She will be sorely missed by administrators and moderators alike - both for her in-depth knowledge of the royals and for her personality. At the same time - purple_platinum decided to take some time to focus on her persona life and her schooling, and also stepped down from the team. The two of them leave a gap in the team that will be hard to fill, and we'd like to thank them both for the hard work they've contributed in making TRF what it is today.

On a more positive note - martha-louise has decided to join the moderating team. She will be working with Empress and Marengo in the Belgian forum. We're thrilled to have her with us.

There was a subforum reorganization in the beginning of March - where a lot of new sub-forums were added. This was done as an effort to make it easier to find the relevant threads, and open up to more conversation about royals that previously got a bit lost in the main forums. We have already heard back from some about the change, but we're always open for more feedback.

What a year! It’s only April, and we have already 7 babies! And to think there are still 8 months ahead…

16 January – Christian Kraft von Hohenlohe-Oehringen
Hereditary Prince Kraft von Hohenlohe-Oehringen and his wife Caroline welcomed their first child, a son, named Christian.


28 January – Gustav von Hohenlohe-Langenburg
Prince Philipp von Hohenlohe-Langenburg and his wife Saskia welcomed their second child, a son named Gustav. The couple already has a son, Max Leopold, born in 2005.


February 28 - Lalla Khadija of Morocco
King Mohammed V and Lalla Salma or Morocco welcomed their second child, Princess Lalla Khadija on March
As usual for the Moroccan Royal Family, there has been no official confirmation that the Princess was pregnant but our members have long been guessing names for the baby,
King Mohammed and Lalla Salma already have an elder son, Moulay Hassan.

Luis Alfonse de Bourbon and Margarita de Vargas Santaella welcomed their bundle of joy, a baby girl named Eugenia.

14 March – Simeon of Bulgaria
Princess Kalina of Bulgaria and her husband Kitin Muñoz welcomed their first child, a son, named Simeon after his grandfather, former King Simeon of Bulgaria.
King Simeon has greeted the news enthusiastically and has hinted that there will be a few surprise celebrations, concerning the birth of his grandson.

17 March – Prince Abdul Muntaqim ofBrunei
Crown Prince Billah and Crown Princess Sarah of Brunei welcomed their first child, Prince on 17 March, 2007.
The baby received quite a grand name - Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda'Abdul Muntaqim Ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
Though there was no official announcement about the Crown Princess’s pregnancy, recent pictures showed quite obviously that Brunei would soon have a cause of celebrations.

March 19 - Prince Abdullah of Jordan
Prince Ali and Princess Rym of Jordan welcomed their second baby, a boy named Abdullah, on March 19, 2007.
This Royal birth was a complete surprise for many Royal watchers. There has been no announcement about Princess Rym’s pregnancy and as the Princess made fairly few appearances lately, not even the most devoted Royal watchers could have suspected anything.
The couple already have a one-and-a-half years old daughter, Princess Jalilah.

April - Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands

Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands are expecting their third baby. Whether a boy or girl, the baby will be 4th in the Line of the Succession, after his/her father and elder sisters.
The new addition to the Dutch Royal Family is expected very soon, in the second half of the April.
Meanwhile we all are trying to guess whether it will be a baby boy or baby girl and thinking of all possible names for the new bundle of joy.
The couple already has two daughters, Amalia and Alexia.

May - Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are expecting their second child. The baby, who is expected to be born in May, will be third in the line of the succession, after his/her father and brother.
While waiting forward to the happy news of the safe delivery of the Queen's new grandchild we are doing loads of guesswork, trying to figure out whether it will be a boy or a girl and what will be the baby’s name.
Though any child of the Crown Princely couple will be greeted with the equal enthusiasm, many are hoping for a baby girl, something the Danish Royal Family is anticipating for a long time. Both Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik’s younger brother Prince Joachim have only boys.
The Crown Prince and Princess already have an elder son, Christian.

May - Crown Prince Felipe and Crown Princess Letizia of Spain (a girl)

The Prince and Princess of Asturias are going to be happy parents of a new Infanta, who expected in May. The baby will be third in the line of the succession, after her father and elder sister Leonor.
In a surprising move, the Princes of Asturias announced the sex of their baby. This was done, most probably, to avoid imminent debate on the reform of the Constitution. If the baby were a boy, he would replace his elder sister Leonor in the Line of the Succession. As we now know the sex of the baby, we are happily guessing possible names for the Infanta.
The couple already has an elder daughter, Infanta Leonor.

Spring - Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor of Jordan

Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor of Jordan are expecting their first child. As the custom dictates, the pregnancy was not officially announced.
While waiting for the baby to be born, we are trying to think of the names for the baby.
The baby will be the first child for the couple.

The Earl and Countess of Ulster, the son and daughter-in-law of the Duke and Duchess of Glouster, are expecting their baby this Spring.
This will be the first child for the couple.

September - Lord and Lady Nicholas Windsor

Newly married Lord and Lady Nicholas Windsor announced their are expecting a baby, who's expected in September.
This will be the first child for the Lord and Lady Nicholas.

October - Prince Floris and Princess Aimée of the Netherlands
Prince Floris and Princess Aimée of the Netherlands announced that they are expecting a child, which will come to this world some time in October.
The baby will be the first one for Prince Floris and Princess Aimée.
Prince Floris and Princess Aimée were the last childless couple of the van Vollenhoven Family.

September - Tom Parker Bowles and Sara Buys

Not exactly Royalty but Tom Parker Bowles, the stepson and godson of the Prince of Wales and the only son of the Duchess of Cornwall , is expecting his first child in Spetember.
The baby Tom and his wife Sara Buys are exoecting will be the first grandson for both the Duchess of Cornwall & the Prince of Wales, as well as Andrew & Rosmary Parker Bowles.
This certainly came as very happy news for the Duchess of Cornwall, who had undergone a serious operation recently. The Duchess was said to be 'absolutely over the moon.'
