Princess Sofia and Project Playground (Activities from July 2014)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
One can hardly compare Global Child Forum with it's prominent experts and speakers from all over the world to Project Playground.

Sofia told to Svensk Damtidning, that they are at the party as guests. And that Project Playground launches a project in Sweden. It's about newly arrived Swedes and how to interact the children who come to Sweden.
Ny intervju med prins Carl Philip och Sofia _ Svensk Damtidning

From the photos in Expressen we can see some of the guests arriving: Madeleine's friends Katarina von Horn, Tin-tin Burén, Veronica Arph, Louise Ringström Grandinson, Louise Gottlieb and Lovisa de Geer with their husbands/partners. And Bathina Philipson, the wife of King's friend Aje Philipson. And Frida Vesterberg with her partner was there too.
Also Stephanie Bergström, the wife of Madeleine's ex-boyfriend Jonas Bergström, arrived. Her company Soft Goat has supported Project Playground as corporate friend for some years. Stephanie arrived with her friend Malin Andrén, who owns the clothing company By Malina and designs the clothes. Stephanie and Malin have their companies at the same premises.

The meeting in Stockholm had over 400 participants from many aspects of large and small NGO's, financial institutions, academia, governments and other organizations and agencies. Princess Sofia also represented the King and Queen at the regional meeting of Global Child Forum in Africa earlier in the fall. This is a meeting for both experts and the actual providers of service. So it certainly would not be surprising if there were some participants at both events. As a member of the royal family and also involved in her NGO when she puts on a fundraising event it will not go unnoticed.

The cocktail dress Sofia wore was pretty good (different earrings would have been better), but she is one month behind Victoria in pregnancy? The cinched waist on the dress suggests otherwise. So do the tight jeans in the Instagram.

On December 9, Project Playground visited TriOptima during ICAP Charity Day. TriOptima is part of ICAP, which gives one day each year all of its profits to organizations worldwide that make life better for vulnerable people. Project Playground was one of the beneficiaries this year.
Sofia and Secretary General Daniel Madhani told about PP's operations in South Africa and future plans in Sweden for more than 100 employees of TriOptima. The employees also had the opportunity to ask questions about PP's work.

New necklace in Pilgrim's collection for the benefit of Project Playground
Pilgrim Jewellery has since 2015 supported us through the design and sale of a small jewelry line. The collection for the benefit of Project Playground has so far resulted in feminine bracelets and earrings in gold, silver, rose gold and hematite. Now is also launched necklace with two pendants with a heart and a piece of the puzzle in gold, silver and rose gold, which reflects our message and work.
The pieces in the collection are sold at selected retailers in Sweden and all proceeds will be donated to Project Playground, which is 115 SEK per necklace.

A photo of Sofia together with secretary general Daniel Madhani. I don't know when it has been taken, but they put it to their Facebook just.
Project Playground is working to ensure that all children and young people to grow up with confidence and the opportunity to influence their own lives. Opportunities must also be equal for all - it is doubly important to pay attention on The International Women's Day.

The event in Gothenburg is at Auktionsverket Kulturarena. Hotel Riverton supports the Fundraising Gala by assisting with hotel nights and discounted price for the gala guests. The auction includes a variety of donated items in experiences, art, travel, and sports; For example, a hotel stay for two at the Connaught Hotel in London together with tickets to a football game with meet-and-greet, donated by PK's List - Subjective Travel Intelligence and Worldcitizen.se and soccer player Jonas Olsson. Even street artist Shai Dahan, who has supported Project Playground for years, contributes to the auction with a work of art which will be made after the winner's own wishes.
There will be about 100 guests at the gala.

This is the fifth year in a row when there is a fundraising gala in Gothenburg in the spring, normally in March. There was a fundraising event in Stockholm in the end of November 2015.
There has been a fundraising gala for PP in Örnsköldsvik in September 2014 and August 2015. Probably there will be a gala this year too.
Association Ambrosius Lundensis has organized in many years a gala for Project Playground in Lund. There will be a gala this year too, on 8th October.

Thanks. I was under the impression Sofia there had been more galas. I was wrong.

Project Playground tells at their website, that the proceeds of the fundraising gala was over one million SEK (about 110 000 euros).
Among those who donated things to the auction were Bernadotte & Kylberg, STCC (the car racing serie Carl Philip races in), fashion designer Ida Sjöstedt and swimmer Sarah Sjöström.

@Lady Finn - so the proceeds came to approximately 121000.00 USD. I would have expected the gala to pull in more money given that the honorary chair is a royal and as such, giving PP national and international platform. What surprised me with all the family and friend connections the queen's charity - which is a partner of PP - is not a donor. And for this event to get any major press, this fundraiser is competing with the Rose Ball in Monaco, which is being held the same weekend. The two events are on completely different levels.

Queen Silvia's Foundation Care About the Children supported Project Playground at some project. The Queen's Foundation is not a partner of Project Playground anymore. The Foundation and Svenska Postkodlotteriet have supported PP, but now PP tells at their website that "Thanks for support" = their collaboration has ended.

I think over one million SEK proceeds at a gala with about 100 people in Sweden is a good result. The guests attending at the gala were mostly from Gothenburg and the county around it, and PP's main partners.

Project Playground, World Childhood Foundation (founded by the queen) and Mentor Sverige (founded by the queen) are members of the branch organisation FRII, The Swedish Fundraising Council.
Project Playground's collected funds were over 7,6 million SEK in 2014.
FRII
World Childhood Foundation's collected funds in Sweden were over 29,3 million SEK in 2014.
FRII
Mentor Sverige's collected funds in Sweden were over 24,2 million SEK in 2014.
FRII
UNICEF got most collected funds in Sweden in 2014, over 670 million SEK

And art which Shai Dahan makes according to the wishes of the donor/buyer, was auctioned with 55 000 SEK

as if it were comparable. you can as usual, devalue everything done or anything related to Sofia, but it gets really ridiculous.

these associations are not comparable, neither their size nor their means or their exposure, .. and so much safer nor their funds

thank you LadyFinn for data that reflect reality. And which seem quite normal to the importance of every associations.

@Lady Finn - what's the reason why PP part company with the queen's charity? Was there ever an explanation given by the court or the press?

As for the numbers you quoted for proceeds two years ago, when are the new numbers released for the current year (calendar or fiscal year)? The numbers should go up.

I wouldn't say that the PP gala competes with the Rose ball in Monaco which is, as pointed out, on a whole other scale and an event most Swedes have never heard about. The PP gala was a local event in Swedens second city and the participants were mostly people, of some standing, from Göteborg and the surrounding area, not members of the international jetset wringing their hands in anguish over which event to attend.

The Queen's Foundation Care About the Children grants support for one year. Of course the organizations can apply for a new grant. The Foundation supports some organizations for a year, some organizations for two years... And why should the court or the press explain where the money from the Queen's foundation goes, the Foundation has it's own Board, managing director and expert council. The Board of the Foundation (queen Silvia as the Honorary Chairwoman) decides what projects get support from them after the Expert Council reads the applications and makes recommendations to the Board. All contact occurs between the Foundation's managing director and the contact person of the applicant organization. The Foundation hasn't commented to the press the grants they have delivered.

The non-profit organizations in Sweden must leave their annual reports within six months of the end of the fiscal year (the stock companies within seven months of the end of the fiscal year). Project Playground has published their annual reports normally in the end of April or in May (And for instance the Royal Court published their Annual Report from 2014 in May 2015).
So FRII, The Swedish Fundraising Council, will update the numbers to their website after the organizations have published their annual reports, the numbers from 2015 will be at their website sometime after the beginning of July for the most of the organizations.

We can't compare the Project Playground fundraising gala to the Rose Ball - or to the galas for the queen's World Childhood Foundation or Mentor Foundation have in USA, where people can buy tickets to a whole table (about 10 people) with the queen for 30 000-50 000 USD/table. The tickets to the PP Fundraising Gala in Örnsköldsvik in August 2015 cost 1500 SEK (161 euros, 182 USD).

 Very well described and so true

@LadyFinn Thank you for always providing great information! Your posts are very informative. :notworthy:

i think what Project Playground is doing to help children is fantastic! its not a competition of the size of donations at the fundraising gala that matters. Even if they help 10 children - its always good to know there are people who are trying to make a difference.

I am proud of Princess Sofia for her commitment. They will always be naysers, and its really unfortunate we can't focus on whats important.

she has been a princess for less than a year, but we are judging her and comparing with organizations that started 30 years ago. what a pity!

Frida Vesterberg is involved in Wise Economy's Mentoring Program
Wise Economy’s Mentoring Program links forces from the Swedish business sector with Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in developing countries.
The purpose of the program is to support participating NGOs to become more sustainable, both financially and organizationally and help them increase their digital capacity. The mentors will have an unique opportunity to participate in an exclusive CSR activity. The Mentoring Program starts in autumn 2016.
Frida is one of the testpilots. Their job is to test all aspects off the mentorship between business and NGO.

Project Playground has got second main partner:
STCC (Scandinavian Touring Car Championship), the touring car racing serie in which Carl Philip races, has become PP's main partner.
"For a partnership with Project Playground a long-term engagement of at least three years on a higher level is required. Tis means an annual support of at least 300 000 SEK for a Partnership or 1 000 000 SEK for a Main Partnership."
