One of these "makes me jealous"-articles. Anyway, I would pay for the clothes in the case of the Royal children, otherwise they work as promotional models for these companies! And as we all know modern Royal houses shoud avoid this.

I absolutely agree with you Lena - it's not good for the Royal Family to become associated with companies and brands like this... Some comfort in the fact that the "friend" in this article says that at least Princess Madeleine wants to pay, but that the shopkeepers insists... She - as Princess of Sweden and daughter of The King - should set down her foot and say "I want to pay - end of story!". Hopefully the Court is now aware of this, and perhaps they will take it up.

I´ve found an english article about the clothes for free. I´m not sure about the source, a poster named Brooklyngirl on the crown princess Mary MB has posted it:

NEWS IN ENGLISH
SWEDEN:
Royal children used in marketing

Carin Pettersson 13.10.04 12:18

Swedish stores annually give away tons of clothes to Princess Madeleine and Prince Carl Philip because it is considered to be a good marketing technique.
Foto: Lise Åserud / SCANPIX / POOL

Employees at several Swedish stores, which carry the hottest designer clothes, admit willingly, when asked by the Swedish paper Aftonbladet, that they provide clothes for the two youngest members of the Swedish Royal family without asking them to pay a dime.

Great marketing
The two of them has allegedly accepted jackets, pants, sweaters, and many other things on several occasions, reported the paper.

«It is no secret that the Royal children are a great way of marketing our products. Particularly Madeleine is a creator of trends among young women,» said one employee at one of the stores.

Principle against marketing
The Royal Court reacts to the information, and stated that it is a principle not to accept clothes from companies that want to market their products.

Friends of Princess Madeleine said to the paper that she always insists that she wants to pay for the goods, but that the stores often will not allow her to do so.

Now royalcourt.se has published a denial:

http://www.royalcourt.se/5.6397ebfe0...57fff2782.html

It says that Madeleine and Carl Philip have only one time gotten clothes for free in a fashion boutique. And then they have tried to protest against that. How can we imagine that: Carl Philip with a mad look and in fight position, Madeleine crying (a river of tears running down her cheeks) but the shop assistant said with a cold voice and a gun in his hands "No, you´re not allowed to pay"

BTW the name "Nyhlén" is wrong written in the denial...they´ve forgotten the "h".

I´ve seen the book. Its about överklassen, the upperclass, and its written by Anette Kullenberg

Överklassen i Sverige

I wonder, why they´ve chosen a pic of Madeleine, where she´s so "stupid"-looking. What´s the keynote of this book? Is it objective and factual or more satirical and full of "communistic"/"socialistic" jealousy?

Perhaps this picture was chosen because she looks as though she is disgusted, or "looking down" on someone...I don't know what the book is about, so maybe I'm way of par...but it's just a thought.

Anette Kullenberg is a well known writer in Sweden and have written books about the upper class before.

I haven´t read that much of her tough, so I cannot tell if its books of jelaousy.
But the text says that the book is a "modern sociologhy(?) classic"
so I wouldn´t call it rubbish...

So these books look at the young upper class as a social group. Like one would write about apes in a particular jungle. Talk about their lives, their interests and so on from a sociological standpoint. Sounds interesting.

That is not a very flattering picture of madeleine at all. She is such a beautiful girl, surely they could have chosen a better picture. They must really want her to look silly.

The article is about that Madeleine and her friends had a halloween party at Café Opera last night. Madeleine wore a black wig and red devils hornes.
Emma pernald was dressed as a witch. All of Madeleines best friends were there and this was labeled "the party of the year"
