Carl Philip crashed again in Gothenburg. At the first qualification he got out of the track and his car was damaged. He was 11th at the quali. He was so disappointed that he didn't want to speak with the press.

The qualifying session of Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte ended in the barriers. He had set the eleventh fastest time before the incident and showed promising form in testing which was held in dry conditions where he was seventh fastest and nine tenths from the fastest time.
”I locked my brakes and aquaplanned after that. It was unfortunate, especially as things went really well in testing. We will bounce back tomorrow,” said Bernadotte.

That's too bad, he was really looking forward to race and then having to retire with a technical problem is a shame...

Maybe he would have crashed out anyway...

The retirement of Bernadotte was caused due to a broken tie rod.

Carl Philip was 9th at the second race and got two points. This came partly because two drivers couldn't start to the second race because their cars weren't ready on time after the crashes at the first race.

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte had to retire from the first race as well due to technical problems while he finished ninth in the second race from eleventh on the grid to score his first points of 2014. ”It has been an eventful weekend and I am glad to have ended it on a positive note by scoring my first points this year,” said Bernadotte.

Carl Philip will be racing on STCC in Falkenberg on Friday and Saturday. The tests and qualifying on Friday and two races on Saturday.
Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte is also on the hunt for revenge this weekend after a tough start to the season. The 35-year-old took his so far best STCC finish in Falkenberg last year with seventh position.
”I am not pleased with the start of this season. The speed is there but we’ve had a lot of bad luck. I like Falkenberg and my goal is a similar result as last year here,” said Bernadotte.

He had some problems with his car at the other test. Photos, Carl Philip has gone back to using glasses, he has had them only in few photos when he was younger.

At the first qualifying Carl Philip was 11th and didn't get to the second qualifying, which is for the eight fastest cars.

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte is going to start eleventh in both of the races, a position he was not pleased with.
”I am not pleased, we lack some speed in order to challenge for the top ten where my goal is. But we’ll be back for tomorrow,” said Bernadotte.

I watched the first race from SVT. One car drove off from the track and two cars collided so Carl Philip got to 7th place, when he collided with another car. He span. The collision was his fault and he got 30 seconds time penalty for unfair driving and finished as 10th.
My country woman Emma Kimiläinen was the first woman to start on pole and she came 2nd at the race. The first podium position for her. Good for her.

I can imagine he's not please, 11th doesn't sound bad, but it's from 13 cars in total, so actually third from behind... His teammates do a lot better, so the car can't be completely bad, let's hope he'll make top 5 or something at some point...

Carl Philip will race in STCC in Knutstorp on Friday and Saturday, tests and qualifying on Friday and two races on Saturday.

After a tough start to the season, Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte has scored points in the past three races and is chasing more points at Knutstorp.
”I had a tough season start at Knutstorp in May, I am aiming to turn that around this weekend and continue to score points for the championship,” said Prince Carl Philip.

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte had technical problems with the gearbox and the mechanics were forced to work hard to get the car ready between testing and qualifying. With just seconds left ahead of the start of the qualifying session, Prince Carl Philip was able to join the track and is going to start 12th for both races.
”The team made an amazing effort to get me out in time, a big thanks to them. But I am not pleased with my position in the qualifying session, but we lost a lot of important time due to the technical issues and I made a step in the right direction in terms of lap times from testing to qualifying,” said Prince Carl Philip.

Carl Philip's first race in STCC just started, live:
Motor: STCC, Ring Knutstorp | SVT Play

The other race at 15.10 swedish time.

Carl Philip was seventh at the first race. He drove as 12th or 13th but then came a big crash, many cars broke off the race and Carl Philip was 5th after the safety car left the track open. Two cars went past him and he was 7th.

:previous: thank you:flowers:

I don't know much about motor racing but it seems that he has won and also has got to the podium 9 times....

Carl Philip drove in 2012 together with Jan "Flash" Nilsson, they drove a serie where there were two drivers in a team. And he won some invitation race.

Today Carl Philip started from 12th place to his second race, but there was only 10 cars at the start.
The king was already yesterday in Knutstorp and now SVT showed him watching the race start.

Carl Philip was sixth at the second race, he was perhaps a little lucky because of the misfortune of other drivers.

6th doesn't sound bad, but how many drivers finished the race? If it was 6 then it's still not very good..

You can find out more about his racing team here: Polestar Racing - Volvo Cars official Motorsport Partner

He is currently last of 13 in points for the year. You accumulate points by your position of finish in each race of the year.

The last two years he has driven the Volvo S60 in STCC class (touring cars). In previous years, while driving a BMW - he had some decent results - but no podium finishes in two years.

At least in the US, this class of racing is a combination of sponsored drivers working their way up in class and people who have enough money to fund their own ride (or to find sponsors to fund their own ride). In general they are nice people to be around, living a dream that many of them have. It's a fun sport to follow!

Hmm, so heat 1 7th out of 8 finishing and heat 2 6th out of 7 finishing; i don't think he'll be happy with that..

In the first race Carl Philip's lap time was clearly the slowest of those who were able to finish.
Resultat | STCC
Also in the second race his lap time was the slowest of those who completed the race.
Resultat | STCC

He is normally much slower than the other drivers who race for Volvo Polestar Racing with the same car Volvo S60. He is racing against some very experienced STCC-drivers, there are at least three drivers, who have over 100 races in STCC.
But there are also drivers to whom this is the first season in STCC, like finnish young woman Emma Kimiläinen, who already has got one podium place this year.

According to the court website Carl Philip is at the military exercise on the Baltic Sea on Friday and Saturday, but according to his STCC team Volvo Polestar's press release he is racing in Solvalla:
Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte had his best ever STCC race weekend at Knutstorp with sixth and seventh. A tough challenge awaits him this weekend as he has not raced at Solvalla before.
”I have only driven one test session at Solvalla previously, so the challenge is great. But I am strengthened by the results from Knutstorp and my goal is to continue to score points,” said Prince Carl Philip.
