Is it possible that if Swedes feel "they don't really matter" that could lead to a general disinterest in/abolishment of the monarchy?

Possibly.
But since the Crown Princess (someone who does matter) and her family are very popular, it is unlikely.
As the Swedish members of this forum said, Sofia doesn't matter as long as she remains a private citizen; if an engagement is announced, it's a whole different question. Perhaps a compromise could be reached with Sofia acquiring the title of a Duchess but not of Princess of Sweden (as Meraude suggested in the previous post).

Why should she wait for exactly 33 years?

I assume Meraude is alluding to Princess Lilian, Duchess of Halland, the widow of Prince Bertil - the King's uncle.
The Prince and Lilian met in 1943 and became a couple soon afterwards; however, they couldn't marry since such controversial marriage would at the time result in Bertil losing his place in the line of Succession (and because Lilian only got divorced from her first husband in 1945). Prince Bertil's elder brother, Gustaf Adolf, had died in 1947 leaving an infant son as the heir to the Throne, meaning there was a good chance Bertil would at some point become Regent until the boy reaches adulthood (that never happened though since Gustaf VI Adolf lived long enough to see his grandson Carl Gustaf come of age). For that reason, the couple chose to live together but did not formalise their relationship. The new King, who himself married a commoner, consented to Prince Bertil and Lilian's union and they were finally married in 1976 in the presence of the Royal Family, including Their Majesties.
Despite all controversies and difficulties, the couple stayed together for nearly 33 years before marrying - from 1943 to 1976. They remained married for further 20 years, until Prince Bertil's death in 1997.

What would his wife's title be whoever he marries? Is it Princess or Duchess?

Until now the title of the wife of a royal prince have been HRH princess N of Sweden, duchess of (husband's duchy), for example HRH princess Lilian of Sweden, duchess of Halland, but she's always been called princess Lilian, the title of duke/duchess is very little used in Sweden.
It's the king who decides what title a future spouse will get, it's not certain that Carl Philip's future wife will become a princess of Sweden, as Sweden now have equal primogeniture, and both Carl Philip and Madeleine have the title of duke/duchess. When Madeleine's engagement was announced it was mentioned that her future husband would only get the title of duke and not prince, and to make Carl Philip's spouse a princess while Madeleine's spouse just gets the title of duke could very well be seen as oldfashioned and outdated.

I have to laugh at the "we are all born naked" type of defence Sofia is getting from some people here. Yeah, we are, but there is a difference between that and posing with your hand between your legs, smeared in oil for a men's magazine (several times). And for someone who said that as a woman I shouldn't "denigrate" her I would say that she's done that willingly to herself and if she's now facing the consequences it's her own fault and certainly not mine!

I agree. Perhaps we can close this thread and start a 'Carl-Philip and Sofia: engagement and relationship rumours and musings' thread, as this one has already reached over 2200 posts and is no longer about "press reports"

This thread is about the press reports on their relationship AFAIK. And the odd quote from the always blabbering Bertil Tennert of course. In the end it won't make much of a difference, a new thread will be used to post the newspaper articles about Sofia and discuss her past as a soft porn model & her hunger for fame, exactly what this thread is used for.

Or we could just change the title to: Press Reports and General Discussion about Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist.

But can there at least be a part 2?? 112 pages is quite a bit to go through and since more is definitely to be written, it would be helpful to start another thread attached to the topic. The title of the thread isn't the real problem IMO

At SvenskDam teaser a sugary report about how Carl Philip wants engagement, wedding and children. How he and Sofia have made Ökenäs to a lovely family freetime home, "their love paradise". Some neighbour telling that CP and Sofia spend there every free weekend. They have brought new furniture into the house, and those were great.

He seems the only one who is not bothered about her past. So maybe we will have to accept her the way she is! He very much wants to be with her whatever she's done before they met.

Look, he is not going to be king. They seem to care about one another. Her past is past. Charles of England married his mistress. It is time to move forward.

That's the point I am trying to make, he's not going to be king that was decided decades ago. He is not held to the same standards as his older sister or other Crown Princess. On top of that is his parents, family, and whoever runs the SRF are fine with Sofia and her past that clearly there is something there to endear her to them. It could be that Sofia sat down and talked to those in charge about her past and what went on and they all came to terms with it and have decided to move on.

Well, if he wants to keep his succession rights I am afraid his own opinion isn't the only one that counts.

After 112 pages it may be time to open a 2nd thread for prince Carl-Philip and Sofia Hellqvist, which you can find here.
