Are you surprised? Years from now when she is a stooped, blue haired granny that's probably the information will headline every story written about the HRH The Duchess of Varmland....not Project Playground for certain.

Unless she cures cancer or negotiates peace in the Middle East, she is always going to be topless Princess.

But the die is cast. The SRF is just going to have to make the best of things now.

The Daily Mail is irrelevant in Sweden. What matters is how Swedes and the Swedish press see Sofia and she seems to be doing far better in that respect than Mr. Christopher O'Neill for example. I would say Chris is a much bigger concern for the SRF than Sofia right now.

But he IS Mr. Christopher O'Neill is he not?

Why would he be a concern for the SRF? Have they had to quash dicey photos or video of him? Was he a gigolo in NYC, living off some wealthy older woman? Did he do a stint on "The Bachelor" having his bare backside rubbed down?

No, he grew up and got a superior education in America and Europe and parlayed his business acumen into a successful career in finance. He refuses titles for himself and prefers to work for a living. He is dignified and discreet.

All Royal families and their citizens should have those kinds of "concerns" about the married-ins.

I emphasized Mr Christopher O'Neill (in English), as intentionally used BTW by the Royal Court in the guest list, to stress how detached from Sweden and Swedish life Chris is perceived to be. Sofia, on the other hand, is a home girl who is seen as willing to devote her life to the service of the Swedish people after marrying into the royal family. I don't think her past is a major concern except for prudish Anglo-Americans. And, besides, I'd worry much more anyway about the secretive business life or tax returns of Chris (with potential legal jeopardy for Madeleine ?) than about "dicey photos".

The Swedes (some here) and other Europeans have been every bit as prudish as any Anglo American about Sofia's past. I've pointed it out a few times that it's odd to me that a country and region that claims to be so progressive socially would have such an issue about her being topless.

I think it's weak that Luxembourg doesn't send anyone, looking at the delegation that went there in 2012, even though Carl Philip's position isn't similar. They could at least have sent Félix and Claire if Guillaume and Stéphanie and Henri and Maria-Teresa have other commitments.

Spain and Monaco, okay, understandable I suppose.

I like the LRF but I must agree with you. Why didn't they send M-T? I don't think she is in Baku for the games.

Well, I am not Anglo and I'm surely no prude, just ask my boyfriend.;) But I think a Royal princess with photos of herself nude and in handcuffs and with her lips glued to those of a hard core porn star IS a problem.

For the soccer mom in suburbia who is not the public face of a prestigious Royal House, who no one is going to see sitting next to a Nobel laureate at a formal State Banquet, no.

No concerns.

Looking truly regal, Princess Takamado departed for Stockholm, Sweden.

I am surprised that the British royals will be in attendance. Overall, it is not surprising that less royals will attend this wedding.

Wow. Princess Takamodo is a very elegant lady indeed!

As far as attendance goes, for Scandinavian weddings it's mostly their fellow Scandinavian Royals that "count". So Norway and especially Denmark are the really important guests here, they are all virtually like family.

It's the same for the Benelux(Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) Royals.

Expressen has reporters in the town. Expressen tells that there may be wedding fever in some people, but there are also many, who walk by and wonder why there are TV-cameras, what is happening.

Volvo Cars is delighted to announce that it has been chosen by Sweden’s Royal Court to supply 35 new Volvo XC90s as courtesy cars on the occasion of the wedding. Volvo Cars has worked with the Swedish Royal Court previously. In 2010 the Swedish carmaker supplied a fleet of 85 specially designed Volvos for use as courtesy cars at the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. In 2012 Volvo Cars supplied 50 white Volvo S80s and XC60s on the occasion of the christening of Princess Estelle.

Interesting that such a fuss was made about selecting 'green' cars for Victoria & Daniel's wedding but this time they use 4x4s.

It's a perfect wedding day here in Stockholm. 20 degrees, mostly sunny and a few clouds. Hopefully the good weather stays for the rest of the day (or summer for that sake) ??

We had the same weather in Adelaide, South Australia :)

The media interest from the international press is much less than when both Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine got married. The press service of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs tells that today at the wedding is about 250 accredited journalists, at Madeleine's wedding were 450 and when Victoria got her Daniel there were several thousands of journalists reporting from the wedding.

A lot of the British press aren't there as it's Trooping the Colour and a picture of Prince George sells for much more than CP and Sofia sadly.

Sophie looks lovely at her arrival. Does Edward's tie have hearts on it...?

Aftonbladet tells that Victoria and Mette-Marit have been seen walking at the Haga Park at the lunch time, so they prepared to the wedding that way. They were laughing and having a good time.

Do we know when the royal guests arrive to the church?

Danish television transmitter first from 3:45 pm (and the wedding ceremony is already 4:30 pm)

Probably around then yes.

The doors will be opening soon for everyone else.

Courtesy cars. Does that mean they loan it and then take it back. Then the cars are suddely "second hand" aren't they? What do they with these used cars then?

:previous:

The courtesy cars will continue to be courtesy cars for other people at other events or be sold as practically new - I'd be happy to by one full price had I known it was used at a royal wedding!

Victoria and Mette-Marit have been very close friends for years. One of my favorite photos from Victoria's wedding shows Mette-Marit watching Daniel and Victoria disembark from the boat ride immediately after their ceremony. The tears were flowing down MM's face.:)

Most guests are in white tie and in long gown, however I notice guests too not complying to the dresscode. I just saw an elder gentleman going over the red carpet with a backpack... if I was a security officier, I would be most alert with such a dude with a backpack, demonstratively posing for the cameras...

Was he a comedian or something?

It's different dress codes. White tie for those who are invited to the dinner. Morning dress for those who are only invited to Church.
