Sofia has committed mistakes in the past, but she has changed since. It's not like she was still posing naked last week or planning to do those things after she's married.

But some people here think they're a perfect and can judge people forever. In fact, when I read some posts here, the only thing I can see is: "I don't like her... blah blah blah... she's not good enough... blah blah blah... look how repetitive I am... blah blah blah... look how bitter I am... blah blah blah... look how jealous I am... blah blah blah... I think I'm perfect".

If you can judge Sofia, I can judge you. It's so boring and stupid.

It would have been hopelessly naïve to think that Ms Hellqvist past would be left alone by the public with access to social media.
Prince Carl Philip chose to get engaged and marry the woman he love and find very suitable for royal life in the Swedish Monarchy and his family agree with him because they know Sofia and have spent a great time with her publically and privately.

Those who are busying themselves by judging Sofia harshly and posting inappropriate things online and Madeleine's Facebook page, are most likely those who the royals don't like and will disapprove of.

So she did not claim low esteem causes rape, as some claim now, though it isn't the most fortunate remark indeed as it led to confusion. Perhaps some training before going public with such issues would have been advisable. At the time some posters were in doubt if an organisation with a modest budget like PP could afford to provide adequate professional help to council rape victims. The organisation seemed rather amateurish at the time, it was said that for a while Sofia's personal bank account was listed as the bank account number for the organisation for example.

Anyway, people who talk much have a lot to awnser for. And she certainly talked a lot to the press. Naive maybe, calculated maybe, but often not the most intelligent comments; and at times proven to be incorrect. For example: in the same interview she said that she spend several months for PP in Africa that year, while it was later established that in 2012 she only made 3 short trips to the continent. In different months though.
Many thanks for clearing it up

I really like Daniel and admire his discretion and simplicity and how well he adapted to his role but it was already iffy getting a personal trainer to be crown prince of Sweden.
I remember people complained about letizia, a divorcee, becoming queen or mette marit, a single mum, becoming a queen. This is taking it to a whole new level...

Royalists should only brace themselves. There will be more controversial choices of partners for existing royals, though I agree Sofia is likely the most controversial to date, by a long shot and I don't think it's fair to lump her in the same category as Letizia.

Funny thing is, the next European prince may announce tomorrow that he's marrying a known professional escort and they would still have fans and there would still be apologists and people who'll make excuses for them.

I find your view quite simplistic, Daman. Just because Person A thinks Person B is wonderfull - everybody else has to join in?

I very much doubt, that you act according your words in your own life. Otherwise everybody would find everybody else great..

I'm just pointing out that with all the noise online about Sofia and her engagement to Prince Carl Philip, the actually people who know her much more personally, have embraced her because they already know who she really is and most likely not paying much attention to her past pictures and have moved on.

I think posting the pictures on Princess Madeleine's Facebook page is just rude and way over the line and it don't look good when people are cheering on that sort of behavior. The only people who look bad on the end is those who are posting the pictures.

It's also about showing some respect for others. Those who are posting the pictures and rude comments wouldn't want the samething done to them, so why do it to others.

Sofia has had over 4,5 years to learn to be a royal girlfriend. She has learned nothing. She has broken every possible "etiquette" that has been practiced in Sweden. So how she would learn in one year to be a princess?

I have reservations about Sofia but I have reservations about Carl Philip as well. I find him pretty but unsubstantial much like his fiancée. Saying that I wish them the best going forward. Though I hope they remain very much the sometime royal(appearing at the big events with a smattering of charity work).

Also, IMO Vitctoria at least has accepted Sofia as have the King and Queen. The 3 sibs seem to be very close. There's a YouTube vid of the Wedding Waltz at Frederik
and Mary's wedding wherein before the newlyweds appear we get see various royal gathered to await their arrival. Madeleine is chatting with Martha-Louise of Norway and CP pops his head on her shoulder. Madeleine gives a little smile but keeps talking. IMO this shows a great fondness for her brother. Madeleine has also said that as their parents were away a lot she and CP looked to Victoria for comfort and guidance. This speaks of a strong bond between the sibs. This IMO mean that they CP enough to love whomever he loves. I have that attitude with my friends. Victoria has already shared a few pieces of clothing with Sofia. I think the family has already accepted her and will support Carl Philip wherever his life and wide take him.

I also think the whole family, especially King Carl, having watched the suffering of
Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian, learned the lesson of keeping young love apart.

Saying all that I still think it would be best if the couple married an took a big step away from royal life OR Sofia learns to act with dignity instead of the over excited toddler that she's been over the last 4 years. JMO

She a gorgeous woman with an even more lovely body and she will be a gorgeous bride.

She's been kind and has held her head up high and with a smile. She's working hard on with Project Playground and promoting the charity and have traveled on it's behalf. She has been very graceful when attending events with the royal family and Prince Carl Philip. I'm not understanding what else people want from this young lady?

I knew it was coming! I was never a fan of Sofia in the first place, I mustn't lie about it, we can't like everybody can we? But I'm happy for the engagement, at least they love each other.

About her past, well, it's unfortunate, however she didn't know she will be a princess someday. You learn from your mistakes and unfortunately for Sofia, is learning the hard way. Being exposed on Public and how it works the social media and how easy it is to research on her past life, it is hard for anybody and especially Sofia to move on without regretting painfully about what she did on her past.
As my mom says, good deeds are remenbered but soon forgotten, and bad deeds will follow you until the end of the world... wise words, because it happened to me.

We can't erase the past we regret, but we sure can change the future and the mind of many. It's not to late for Sofia to win the people's heart and for her to be finally happy.
I'm positive about this choice of theirs, and hell guys, we are getting a wedding!!! This means, tiaras, jewels, dresses and all lovey-dovey atmosphere!!!! Be more happy about this, there is always a positive side

Respect is not a given because you marry into a royal family, that is one of the silliest thoughts ever. I don't have rose colored glasses in regards to her, not at all. I don't treat her like she walks on water like so many here do.
Time will tell and only that when it comes to this girl, and I will be the first to eat my words if she turns out to be the *Perfect Princess* and that will take decades of very hard charity work without any mistakes, can she do, again I won't hold my breath. She and her prince deserve each other, 2 peas in a pod, work shy, enjoy the fruits of the taxpayers without any thought that you should be working for Sweden. I really would like to know how many hours a week she and her prince actually work, 5/7 or maybe even 10 if that. 9 to 5 jobs like most ordinary folks, not on your life. Project Playground............sure!

SElizabeth: so Sofia must do decades of hard charity work without a mistake to earn your approbation. Sigh.

It must be such a burden on you to always be perfect with never a mistake in your past. If you became a princess, I'm sure you would have millions of fans as you would never be less than picture perfect and there would never be any jealousy over the fact that you were chosen and others were not.

Get over it. Prince Carl Phillip has little or no public role in Sweden. Marriage to Sofia will not bring down the monarchy. They probably will not be called upon to represent Sweden except at perhaps a wedding.

Sofia brings plenty of positive press to Sweden as she is not shy about giving interviews and being available to them. This results in the press fawning over her. Sure there's going to be a few mags showing her risqué pics, but so what? It adds interest and he's not the heir, no matter what his father prefers. Many people have eccentric and black sheep relatives. Carl Phillip I is just one more. I don't think the Swedes judge her harshly and they are the ones that count. Your demand that she conform to your vision of what a princess should be sounds needlessly harsh and very judgmental to me.

Wait, why would Sofia - or Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland - ever need SElizabeth's approbation? I doubt that lovely young woman who's planning to build a family is giving a damn about the perfect human beings from TRF who decided they can judge and condemn her forever.

Truth is that Sofia has moved on with her life, she can't change her past, but she's building a happy future with the man she loves and the family that embraced her. Too bad the online armchair judges are trapped on the past. Too bad for them of course.

1) She doesn't need to earn anything from me, she needs to earn by hard work for the Swedish taxpayer are going to be paying her for her rich lifestyle, not me, thank goodness. I have seen pretty little girl like her and they are a dime a dozen, try having a conversation with anyone of them and that shows their intelligence.........done with that!
2) I never said I was perfect, you did, don't like my comment, who cares? I don't so I will be sure to tell you that I am the last one that is perfect in this world, I know is who perfect and that is not of this earth. The young people of the world today think they are perfect, they have a lot of growing up to do as she does and so does her prince.
3) PCP brings nothing to the people of Sweden, he is know for just what he is: a race car driver, a party boy, vacations and girls. He steals other people's designs of pottery and tries to past them off as his, he is not a very honest person now is he, by the way that was in the news around the world, I did not make that up. He gets paid do excately what he does, nothing.
4) SH needs to learn to shut her mouth, I guess you don't understand the media of today....they want dirt, news of any kind and for what? To make MONEY and she opens her mouth and gives it to them......being a royal means keeping the mouth shut and don't say anything that they can use.....
Her record stands all by itself and she is the only one that made it, end of discussion. I am done with people on this earth that are just so ignorant and arrogant that they think posing naked is okay and something we all should do...........give me a break. She is what she is.........period. I didn't make her, she did this all by herself.

So that being said......end of discussion with you and your friends!

Oh, do you believe in morals? I believe in regret and forgiveness. And I don't like hypocrisy. You're missing a very important point: if you can judge, you can be judged, so you shouldn't be so shocked.

Believe me I am not shocked by anything in this world, I have probably lived longer then you and so nothing shocks me anymore. It saddens me to see that the morals of our society have gone so far done the drain that it is starting to smell and I don't just mean this marriage either. It's called society in general...........yes time change and not always for the better such as now in that day and age. One thing people just don't learn in life, history has always repeated itself, always. Being a history buff, and having hundreds of books on it, people should start reading their history and learning from it yet they never will. Yes times are changing for sure...
As for being judged, that has happened to me all my life and at this point I could care less, I don't need nor want to impress anyone anymore, that is a waste of time. Things you learn as you grow older, you gain more wisdom!

SElizabeth, royalty are human beings and they make mistakes in life just like everyone else because none of them are perfect. I'm sure with the right guidance from Prince Carl Philip, the royal family and palace officials, Sofia will do just fine. She'll most likely stumble a few times but I think she'll be okay.
