Methinks Charlene had a chapel train on her "coloumn" gown and very wide aisles to allow for the width of her large and wide train and veil!

We all looked at the whole thing, the dress, the train on the dress, the train from the shoulder's and a not insubstantial veil.

Charlene's gown basically loosely fitted to the waist and flaired almost A Line from just over her hip line.

Charlene's gown was not, in any shape or form, figure hugging! That being said, with a different neckline and train Sofia could really work it.

Carl Philip and Sofia's Wedding: Suggestions and Musings

I cannot see how Charlene's dress was figure hugging or column
Column to me is straight from top to bottom

I have the feeling a certain dislike towards Ms Hellqvist is colouring your judgement. In my personal opinion Ms Hellqvist can look very poised and stylish and I have no doubt that on her big day, she will look every inch a lady.

you are right marg, i can only imagine the criticism she would get should she choose a figure hugging dress - me included. given her past background, i think she will try her wedding dress to be as classic, demure and elegant as possible.

you missed these two other evening gowns of sofia, the first quite nice, the second one nothing special:

I am sure that Sofia's wedding gown will be perfect for her on that day as she will have been given wonderful professional advise. The people that like her will love it. The people that thinks differently about her will hate it. Just how people are and in the long run will not affect her and Carl Philip one bit.

Even in a figure-hugging gown. (As did Pippa btw).

Thank you so much, I was so set on finding the ones I remembered and quite forgot these two.

I wasn't much of a fan of the odd black and white but the dark blue had distinct possibilities some of which may have centred around a fabulous updo. In fact, I am sure I have seen someone wear it or something really like it. I didn't like the way the folds over the shoulder were spread out, in fact I would go so far as to say it would have looked better completely off the shoulder. What was interesting was that the shoulder peices seemed to have absolutely no tension at all, which leads me to suspect that the gown was fitted and possibly even couture

The one thing that did strike me was how lovely the sweetheart neckline is on her and how it flattered her shape and size. So, maybe a wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline.

I have not been keen on some of Sofia's past choice of outfits in previous years, however on her wedding day I somehow see that she will wear something elegant.

I hope the Royal Wedding is late afternoon; I can't be home till 4; and it will be over by then.

Duchess Satin with this Tiara will really set the scene.

Goodness, Charlene was an incredible bride! One of my personal Most Beautiful Royal Brides, definitely in the top ten!

You will get no argument from me on that because I totally agree. but just looking at the visual definition of "figure hugging" and I absolutely do not see that Charlene's gown.

Charlene's gown was amazing, but it was amazing because you could see the by the cut and style was it was all Charlene and she was a very beautiful bride.

I haven't really got a handle of exactly what Sofia's personal style is, yet! I only know that she looks really good with a "sweetheart" neckline but I can't nail down any particular style that would say, "Sofia", or more importantly, Princess Sofia of Sweden.

Just to add my shilling to the discussion, I think a dress along the lines of Princess Charlene's would be fine for Sofia and certainly not inappropriate. Some of the styles back in the 1920,s and 1930's were quite figure forming (as opposed to figure hugging) such as Princess Marina and later her daughter, Princess Alexandra. Charlene is very tall and I think Sofia is much shorter (any one know for sure how tall Sofia is?), so certain adjustments to the cut and style would have to be made.

Like Marg, I too haven't quite got the measure of Sofia's style, although it seems quite modern, quite simple in style generally, though edgy at times.

I'm going to go with a 20's/30's style for Sofia, maybe in lace - or maybe a lace version of Charlene's dress but without the detachable train.

I think so. I doubt they wont, since they broadcasted Madeleine's one.

But there are also mentioned Phoebe Philo, Isabel Marant, Delpozo, Wilhja, Valentino, Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab. Many think/hope that Sofia will choose a swedish designer.
If she is smart, she will.

The 20s wedding dresses are not very flattering for the body (look at the Queen Mother...) and are quite "simple" by todays standards (no train, no volume). I am not so sure about how a 30s gown looks. The waist is higher, right? That is more flattering to me at least..

I agree that there probably will be a rather simple dress. Maybe lace parts but not to much. I wonder if something like Mette-Marits dress would be to her taste? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...a0e6c70ee0.jpg At least the angelic skirt? It's such a nice flow but still keeping it simple.

I really, really, really hope she wears a Swedish design. I think it's the most fitting, graceful and honoring decision she can make.

Flowers, food and music I think they might incorporate both his Dukedom and also Dalarna where she comes from.

I hope Sofia does NOT choose a 20s/30s style gown. They're awful, IMO, as most of them look like nightwear.

In my mind they can be very beautiful, especially with embroidery on. But they tend to look too bohemian for a big royal wedding.

I think Sofia will pick a dress like Princess Marie of Denmark chose. She'll probably show a bit of cleavage (come on this is Sofia were talking about &#128521 and have a dropped waist but a fuller skirt. I just can't see her wearing a slim fitting dress like Princess Charlene.
