Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil. Duke of Sodermanland,I like it but I'd never have guess Alexander as a first name!

I'm quite surprised that little prince got 4 names, just like princess Estelle.
I like the names.
Welcome Prince Alexander!

Because the Mistress of the Robes, Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke, is on her way from New York with the queen, Anna Hamilton, the First Lady of the Court, is with the prime minister, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Marshal of the Realm at Statement of witness.

Victoria looked great today.

Classic and lovely, not exactly traditional though for the Swedish royals. But considering Estelle, Leonor and Nicolas, he isn't alone.

I assume Alexander is simply a name they liked. I don't think there is a family link is there?

Prince Alexander - classic and regal name.

PS: Don't remember seeing The King looking so happy and with such a big grin on his face since...like never. He must be really thrilled about this baby.

Surprised that the new prince got 4 names, also surprised he didn't get Bertil's duchy of Halland.

3 or 4 names, well that's up to the parents to decide. Nothing strange.

I also think that Södermanland is a very logical choice. Carl Philip inherited Ökenäs, an estate in Södermanland, a couple of years ago. He and Sofia spends quite a lot of time there. It's also not too far from Stockholm. I can imagine that Alexander will one day inherit Ökenäs from his father, and because of that have a strong connection to Södermanland. The kings country estate/castle, Stenhammar, is also situated in Södermanland.

Beautiful names!! No surprise i think the 4 names, they don't want to leave out the names of the grandfathers and of course the name of Prince Bertil!

Yes, I admit that I had not thought of their house of Ökenäs, and saw they like particularly the place, all this logic.

I like the name Alexander.

Exactly like I thought, original with traditional names sprinkled in. I like it! And Södermanland is close to my heart for ancestral reasons. Do you think Prince Carl Philip's cousin Prince Hubertus of Hohenzollern is a possible godfather?

He got a duchy which was previously held by Swedish monarchs. The King is obviously happy because, unlike what Expressen wrote yesterday, the birth of Prince Alexander does not secure "the royal succession", which was already secure with Estelle and Oscar, but it does secure the continuation of the agnatic line of the Bernadotte family, which has been constitutionally irrelevant since 1980, but may still matter personally to the King.

Xenobia: I have a question. If I understand it correctly, the testamentary disposition of Stenhammar says that the estate should be leased to a (male) prince of the House of Bernadotte. Is it possible that Carl Philip and his son may be the Stenhammar's "heirs" instead of the Westling Bernadotte branch of the family, which, under Swedish law, will inherit the throne ?

I like those names though i am surprised that they choosed Hubertus instead of Carl. Maybe Willem-Alexander will be a godparent again :)

Duke of Södermanland was expected. Carl Philip will as a Prince by blood inherite or atleast inherite the right to work and live at Stenhammar Castle. The first owner of Stenhammar stipulated that it should be rent out to a male Prince by blood from the Bernadotte family, preferably the Duke of Södermanland if there is one. That's why the last Duke of Södermanland Prince Wilhelm, younger brother to Gustaf VI Adolf, lived there.
