I just saw the programme 'Oranje boven down under', there was a small interview with the Prince and Princess. They commented on Maxima feeling a bit tired and skipping a part of the programme: she said she would be of no use there while feeling unwell & she was able to get the batteries charged. The Prince also stated that before the visit he and his wife discussed if Maxima was able to go ahead as planned. She said she wanted to try to join him, but would tell if she wasn't able to do so.

Another part was about their children. Maxima said that HM The Queen is taking care of them (and added that they were in good hands). They call often and usually Amalia tells loads of stories. Amalia has an idea about Sydney because 'Finding Nemo' is one of her favourite films, and some of the film takes place in Sydney.

Thanks Marengo for telling us about the broadcast :)

Yes, thanks Marengo. What a lovely story!

aww, poor maxima. that's one of the drawbacks of having long hair... :(

lovely story, marengo. what a sweet detail that they mention that finding nemo is amalia's favourite movie. they look like those type of families that sit all together and watch movies like finding nemo... :)

An aide-de-camp is an officer from the armed forces who is detached to the Military House of Her Majesty The Queen. They are no 'guard' for her but do escort her and also form the visible part of the 'royal entourage'. They are recognizable to the golden or silver 'ropes' they wear as a distinction mark of their position.
Wow, what an answer! Thanks for elaborating, Henri M.!:flowers:

Some first pictures from the official dinner at the Government House. (ppe, more can be found here)
Great great great dress!

I'm with the concensus here on the visit overall: I think we can really conclude it has been a success so far! These two royals are trying hard, one can tell. They're doing something right, kudo's where they are due! :flowers:

I like her brown outfit. She looked very pretty. I think her hair looked nice, too (well, until the wind changed it at all  ).

"One for the father, one for the mother and one for the country"

On another poster was stated:

One Australian participant told the Princess that she & her husband in fact had listened well to the general advice by the Australian Government, which stimulates a couple to have 3 kids....:

" One for the father, one for the mother and the third one for the country"

To which the Princess replied dryly that in her case the first one was 'for the country'

It's so pity that Maxima's hair is unattended.
She must give more attention on the hair.

I think she has been looking very nice it must be hard being pregbant and still carrying out this tour. Her hair looks fine it was just the wind blowing it happens to us all.

I think Princess Maxima looks wonderful, can't stop the wind blowing your hair or even a skirt for that matter.

I agree with you both too- all of the professional people I know wear their long hair pinned up- loose hair is for casual events. I do wish the long haired princesses would do better hair styling- certainly Maxima looks lovely with her hair done up. And her day outfits need to be a bit longer- seeing knees is not a very attractive thing- make your skirts a little longer or shorter Maxima.

I think that CP Maxima is elegant and knows what colour suit or not.
Pink, brown, kaki, deep blue, violet, purple, grey suit her very good.
She often wears orange clothes :  a clin d'oeil, I suppose ;-)

She always wears nice and elegant shoes and has original purses.
Who knows the designers ?

Her overall image is destroyed

For sure the Princess has an elegant garderobe with her, but her overall image is destroyed by the horrible coiffure.

My assumption for the Princess' garderobe of this week:

Natan Couture Collection 2006 (Edouard Vermeulen) Bruxelles

is very similar to = Valentino Couture Collection Spring/Summer 2006

I think it is Valentino Prêt-à-Porter Collection 2006

Yes..She must be more careful with her hair, but she looks splendid, all the same. And if you looks at her carefully...you may easily notice that the baby is right there! ;)

Vanesa.

She looked great on the 6th day. like the necklace and top of the shoulder.

I also very much like Maxima but the pictures in front of the Sydney Opera House were absolutely horrible..The hair and those awful sunglasses! No, she needs to be more careful and polished..
I loved all of her dresses though and her coiffure was excellent for the formal dinner in the white dress..

And thanks, a little late, sorry, for the information about her entourage..

I think Maxima looks like a movie star, she is well dressed and incredibly beautiful (and it looks like her two daughters will look like her, lucky them) in my opinion the loose hair just make disappear the formality of the events in a nice way
