I am surprised by many responses here because I find Maxima to be one of the more naturally beautiful crown princesses. By this I mean that, unlike many CPs whose looks have improved after the grooming they received post engagement, Maxima, to me, was an eye catcher right from the start. She didn't need the expensive clothes, the beauty professionals. Certainly her skin is starting to show signs of pre-mature aging and sun damage, but I have always thought that freckles were quite charming.

I just saw the pictures of Maxima in the threat, " crown Princess Maxima pictures threat 1" and i desagree with you , you can see there how she change from the first photos in New york in the biginning of the relation, eyes brows done, hair, make up etc...... she has qualities of course, beautiful smile, tall, but she is a product made by the royals and a group of people surrounded her, how to walk, to pose, make up specialist, hairdresser, expensive outfits, jewellery, I belive that a lot of us if we would have the money and the group of people working with us like she had or have, probably we will look as good as her!

Gosh, the movie 'Shallow Hal' comes to mind when I read these posts.
Why should their looks, skin complexion, height, weight, etc have anything to do with the fact that they are princesses. Princesses are people after all, freckles and wrinkles and all

Well, when she met W-A she was ... eight years younger! That may explain some of these 'changes' (which I consider not really noticeable). Sometimes the use of heavy makeup for some official engagements where she is photographed at, tends to highlight this 'lines of expression' - I wouldn't call them 'wrinkles'. And she's been through 3 pregnancies in 6 years (gaining weight/losing weight). She looks pretty well for a 36 year old woman...

The freckles come with her since her young age I believe...

And I hope she NEVER gets into the botox craze ... Beatrix is full of wrinkles, so was her mother Juliana, and I believe the Dutch wouldn't really like a Silvia kind of Queen - in terms of facial treatments...

I was just about to write a similar sentence! The Dutch love their wrinkly Queen therefore nothing to fear for Maxima

I do hope that the old generation who is able to age gracefully (at least the majority such as Queen Beatrix, QE II or Queen Sofia) won't be replaced by a follow up generation (the current CPs) who do today's full package and transform themselves into some ageless and irrecognisable dressed up dolls, instead of allowing their faces to show the strains of life. It's just natural.

I was really happy when i saw this thread because now I can write that I love natural beauty and little wrinkles. These makes human face so beautiful and shows that people don't afraid to be herself. If Maxima don't feel disturb and shines all time then is everything ok. I really-really hope that Maxima (and other young royal women) don't never use botox like Q Silvia!

wrinkles or not, frekels or not, she looks fantastic becasue she has a group of people around her taking care of her look, hair, make up dresses, shoes etc..... she looks better thant when she met W-A , you can see the difference in the photos from New York at the bigining of the relation.

I think Maxima is very, very beautiful. She's very natural, very real-looking, as compared to some of the other royal ladies. Wrinkles come naturally as you age, she might have had a bit too much sun- but she's much less wrinkly than Stephanie of Monaco, who has leather-skin practically. I've heard she's a smoker as well, so that may contribute, but mostly I think it's just the aging process.

As for freckles- they look kind of like the type you get when you sit in the sun a lot. Of course, you can get a ton of freckles naturally- I've got lots of freckles all over, especailly around my nose and on my arms and back. I guess those can be exposed to the sun the most, and I'm not very good about putting sunscreen on.... but I'm not a sun worshiper. Besides, freckles give you character, as do wrinkles!

Maxima doesn't seem obsessed with how she looks or ages, and that's the most important thing. She even seems to be comfortable with her freckles, I have no clue how she does it! My freckles embarrass me more than any part of my appearance!

I love Maxima, and think she's a low maintanance type of active woman but some of her freckes and wrinkes are due to not using sun protection. As a mother of 3 girls I would hope she set's an example of good skin care, don't wear gobs of makeup, wash the face gently, moustirize and always use sun screen. Their Grandma grew up in generation of people who didn't realalize how harmful the sun can be> it would be awful for their mom to wound up with skin cancer down the road.

I love her too, I am sure she use plenty good creams, expensives too and she probably has some kind of facilas, she knows she is a public figure , so I am sure she take care of it, she might not be obsesive with her looks but she knows that everytime she is on duty she has all the papparazzi for her and to see the quick way that she loose her weight after each pregnanacy, you could see that she takes care of herself, she has probably the motiviation and the economic situation to do it.

I've never thought of Maxima as beautiful, however she's isn't by any means ugly. Sun, cigarettes, and heavy make-up are starting to take their toll.

She doesn't need Botox but she does need some sort of skin regimen(sp) because she looks alot older than 36!

yes, i am quite surprise that she doesn't look even to have any facil or anything, she need to have some kind of care, she is very tall and elegant and it is a pity that she looks much older than she really is.

I agree with all of you....take care (as much as you can) of your skin, but wrinkles are also a sign of life.....and the way I look at it......I've earned every wrinkle....or as Hubby would same laugh-lines (isn't he sweet)

She has the wonderful laugh lines around her eyes, and freckles. If she had plastic surgery around her eyes it would not take long for the wrinkles to show up again as much as she smiles and laughs. WA is the one that loves her and her looks. I think she is very pretty. I am sure neither one of them care what any of us think. She is a lovely woman, and brings us all joy seeing her out and about. None of us are perfect.

Personally I appreciate Maxima just the way she is.
She doesn't seem look a person, who will have a surgery to improove her looks. Or even expensive/long treatments. To me, she seems like someone, who is completely comfortable with her looks. And since everyone around her seems comfortable too (her husband looks like he adores each and every of those wrinkles and freckles, as well as anything connected with her).

I like Maxima how she is. She seems to be comfatable with her lines, freckles etc.

I know Maxima spends alot of time in the sun and does smoke's (no sure if she stopped) sun and smoking are one of the first things that do show on a person imo. She doesnt seem to look much older than her age to me at all.
I dont think Maxima is pretty nor ugly, i find something very attractive and cute about her, which could be her simplicity in everything

I dont agree with a few members who claim that Maxima doesnt take good care of her face. How do we know that? how do we know she doesnt use sunscree etc? Some people, lines show earlier than others but that doesnt mean lack of care. For ex, people with olily skin tend to get wrinkles later in life than those with dry skin.

W-A seems to like Maxima just the way she is, thats who he married and I think that that is what counts. Personally, I find her freckles different which I really like, she seems to know how to show them off in a nice way imo

If Maxima tends to go for botox I wont be bothered either but a few shots only. Im not for the pulled, plastic look face at all. But if a few shots would make her feel better than why not

Well, I am afraid that ´spending a lot of time in the sun´ here in Holland isn´t exactly possible . And considering that she lived in NYC for years I doubt that she did so there.

I hope that Maxima (or any other woman) will stay away from any cosmetical surgery.
