The hall at Huis ten Bosch is really beautiful. Uncomparable to anything in Noordeinde. I wish they will use it more often, though I this case I suspect that security reasons may have led to the dinner being here. Huis ten Bosch is easier to guard than Noordeinde, which is in the middle of a busy street.

A pity that they used the same technique of photographs as they did during the dinner at the Rijksmuseum ar 29 April 2013. The panoramic view has a very weird optical effect, it seems that they are eating within an elaborately painted egg.

I'm such a sucker for Maxima! I think she's gorgeously colourful, and as the queen, she now has the best jewellery stash imaginable!

Yes sure she had some help she looks stuning

I do prefer Maxima in stronger, brighter colours, but it can't be all the time, can it? And doesn't have to be either. - But I always like the way she does it, exuding energy and joy! That's my kind of lady! :)

And a good time was had by all! What I like about Maxima is that she seems to have a knack for creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere wherever she goes. For her ability to relate to everyone around her I think of her as the best queen there is.
I think highly of EII, and do understand she is much older and a queen of another era.
I am more than happy for Queen Maxima to reign!:)

Right. I'm clinging onto the thought that Maxima had taken off her black jacket off momentarily. If not; well, either she's cold or the others are sweating, and why a sleeveless dress with stockings in late October? - In the end, all I can say is that the dress is not good. - Maxima is my favourite of royals, but this outfit is not!

Nice that they are creating new knights in this order again. And also nice for the ministery of defence that they found another one after Marco Kroon, who received a lot of negative press due to his private life and has a court case coming up soon.

It was a wonderful ceremony. Infantry Major G.P. ("Gijs") Tuinman, a former commander of the Special Forces (Corps Commando Troops) was visibly emotioned by the honour.

The King
Queen Máxima
The Minister of Defence, Mrs J.A. Hennis-Plasschaert
The Grandmastress, M.L.A. Baroness van Zuylen van Nijevelt-den Beer Poortugael
An Aide-de-Camp from the Regiment Grenadiers
An Aide-de-Camp from the Royal Marechaussee
An Aide-de-Camp from the Marines' Corps of the Royal Navy
arrive on the Inner Court for the ceremony:

"Major Tuinman, leave the ranks!" - the major steps forward and greets the King:

The King praises the brave gallantry shown in the most difficult circumstances and tells why the major has deserved this most rare decoration. Before receiving the knighthood, the major makes a solemn vow: "I solemnly swear to act as a true and loyal knight, ever ready to have my life at stake for King and fatherland, and to prove -with all what is inside me- to be worth this dignity, allowed to me by The King. So help me God almighty!"

The King makes the major a knight in the Militaire Willems-Orde by giving a firm pat on the shoulder:
