Bad press it is indeed. The Royal Couple should do way w/ the old advisors, and hire a new team of qualified individuals. I was slowly becoming a fan of the couple but when reading/hearing this kind of stories the Royal Couple comes off as spoiled children. |

I think that is the impression that many get, (spoiled children) while in reality they are just testing this mediacode probably. I can't imagine the court being very happy the way this all worked out, much ill-will created about something which is basically nothing. Mind you, if GDP press wouldn't have spoken out there wouldn't be an incident, the photos would just be removed quietly and nobody would know why.
Luckily the amount of goodwill is rather high, and I am sure some lovely pictures of Queensday will give a boost too. We Dutch don't like a fuss, just cover everything with the mantle of love and say it was all a big mistake ![]()

She's on public space without children, she's waving to photographers. So photos can be published. I think that dutch mediacode is necessary to protect children and their intimacy...
They are strict rules in France and there are photos from "famous" adults but not from their children. I dont see "stolen" pictures from them. The attitude of "mediacode " is ridiculous and may be dangerous for the Dutch Monarchy. Julianna and Beatrix tried to bring nearer the Monarchy to people. They are very loved and deeply respected. It will be a great pity that their line of action will/would be broken. |

What is more surprising for me is how the Dutch press chooses to accept this mediacode.
Obviously the press can't print everything they want, they must respect the royal couple's private moments, but I don't understand why they are so strict about pictures where Princess Máxima was acting so normally... Forbidding a picture where the future Queen is waving to the public seems very pathetic to me.

I am so surprised so much has been made of this situation. She seems like a sensible person and wonder if Maxima is involved or just being used to prove a point. It really is a shame.

Boulevard Magazine 'Weekend' put Maxima and the glasses on their cover with the headline 'Why The Netherlands is not allowed to see this picture'.
