In the afternoon HRH opened part of the nature development center Noorderwaard near Werkendam,thus ensuring the water of the rivers Rhine and Maas/Meuse to connect and also to have more "space" to controle high water levels in the Biesbosch delta.

I usually find it odd when they actually remove/demolish land to make place for water/nature. I know it is the trend and usually needed for the defence against water, but still... it seems against our national character .

Same here.Feels like a contradiction,we exist because of our fight against the water,and we will exist just a little longer by giving the land back to the water bit by bit.
