Currently there is in the Norwegian papers a lot of writings about Haakon and Mette-Marits powerful friends I’m going to try to give a summary but its tricky

Two weeks ago Haakon and Mette-Marit attended the wedding of Hege Duckert and Stein Hernes. Whilst the other guest arrived trough the normal door on foot Haakon and Mette-Marit were driven to the back door.

Hege Duckert is currently editor of Dagbladet which is one of the 3 biggest papers in Norway, she is temporaray eidtor at the moment, usually she is cultural editor I think. Her new husband Sten Hernes is active in the labour party currently in government in a coalition government, he has also worked at the Prime ministers office, now he works in as a media advisor in Burson-Marsteller

After Se og Hør published the picture from the Duckert/Hernes wedding Aftenposten had an article describing the Crown Prince couples "new" high profile friends/acquaintances.

Ofcourse they still have their low profile friends but since they never talk to the press or do any interesting they are not really written about. In the Aftenposten article some of the people who are mentioned as their "friends" Are the minister of forreign Affairs (Labour) Jonas Gahr Støre, The Minister of Forreign Aid and devellopment Erik Solheim (socialist lef party) I really don’t think you can call these two friends, the article is mentioned Haakon often talk to them about Aid work and world issues which is natural as he meets them often, both are busy men who mostly seems to be abroad

From the church life former Bishop of Oslo Gunnar Stålset, very well known that he is close to them and esp to her. His son Sturla Stålsett is head of the church missionary center which the couple works a lot for. Also the Christian comedian Bård Tufte Johansen and his wife (there were picture of H and MM attending his show some weeks ago in the magazines)

From the entertainment life Frederik Skavlan (well watched talk show host, he was also commenting their wedding) and his girlfriend Maria Bonnevie (former girlfriend of Swedish Bad boy Michael Persbrant) singer Bertine Zetlitz and her husband, (she is the front figure of the fashion label Maggie Wonka which MM has started to wear recently)

Some time ago purple_platinum found the blog of John Hope Bryant who had posted some private pictures from Skaugum on his blog, he is an American with a huge contact net that includes all the big shots in USA, he is involved in the young global leaders which Haakon is also a part of. Some time ago Aftenposten found a picture of the CP couple with Bryant and Duckert/Hernes (circle) on his blog with this caption

After it was written about the picture was removed from the blog, but it seems Aftenposten/Vg publishes it anyway (Is that not copywrite violation I wonder). See the picture here:

Aftenposten thinks it is problematic that a media top like Duckert is so close to the couple, she on her side says it is not a problem since she does not write about the royals


Some time ago Vg had an article saying that Hege duckert helped the couple expand their circle of friends/ acquaintances.

Hege Duckert has interviewed Mette-Marit in 2003 for Dagbladet, it was when she was patron for a charity fundraiser for the red cross when she was pregnant with Ingrid. VG asks if she has helped pick out the Crown Prince Couples friends, she says she does not recognize that description.

Duckerts friend Columnist Anders Gievær in VG says he stopped writing about the royals since he met them trough mutual friends 2 years ago, since that he has met them 4 or 5 times. He told his boss immediately.

As a curiosity the editor of VG Olav Versto is the brother of the information secretary at the palace Astrid Versto, it really is a small world the Norwegian media circle it seems

It seems not everyone is Dagbladet is amused with this friendship either. Dagbladet is a republican paper and has been so since they were established. Yesterday two of the most influential columnists said to VG it could be difficult if people persived dagbladet as to not beeing neutral, and the real test would come the day Dagbladet want t put a negative royal story on the front, which actually they did just a few weeks ago, about the King using to much electricity compared to the swedish King who heats his palace with pellets

Duckert says to VG that in Dagbladet it is the news editor who is in charge of the royals, but she is still currently stand in editor of the whole paper for the regular editor Ane Aasheim

Here is another article about the crown prince and princess and also the king and queen. I don't speak Norwegian, but there seems to be some criticism of Mette-Marit who is still insecure in her role, while Hakoon is praised by reporter Linda Nyberg. Maybe somebody who speaks Norwegian could add a short summary of the article.

Haakon and Mette-Marit at the NHO conference today. NHO is the main organisation for Norwegian employers. Membership consists of more than 16 000 enterprises ranging from small family-owned businesses to large industrial enterprises.

there is no pregnancy anounced, and she is deffenetly not 5 months pregnant. It is a mistake from PdV

I noticed that looking at those pictures from Rex that we were given a link for, MM's son from her previous relationship was named "Prince Marius....". Was that a faux-pas on their part or did I miss something?
