Do we know why or the purpose of this visit? Did she open the exhibition?

As I wrote Mathilde visited the exhibition, she did not open it. The exhibition runs from May 22 till September 23, so it's already in its "final phase" ;) There are several reasons for Mathilde's attendance - Belgian museums have lent artworks by Rubens from their collection for the exhibition, Rubens has lived in Antwerp in different stages of his life and according to the official website Belgian art historians and members of the Fund Rubenianum managed by the King Baudouin Foundation are involved in exhibition.

Queen Mathilde participated in a round table discussion with the theme 'The strength of intergenerational projects - Transmission and sharing of know-how', organized by the Princess Mathilde Foundation in Brussels today, September 30:

Later today, Matilde attended an international conference on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the New York convention, organized by Belgium and France to gather the European Union who had signed the convention, at the Egmont Palace:

Yesterday, October 8, Queen Mathilde has received Sister Angélique Namaika, who has won this year's Nansen Refugee Award for her work to support vulnerable displaced women and children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Queen Mathilde has attended the performance of the play 'Heb jij ze wel alle vijf?' (Do you have all five?), a contemporary story about and for young people to raise awareness of the new poverty and intergenerational poverty, at the Beursschouwburg in Brussels, today, October 14, 2013.

Queen Mathilde attended a roundtable meeting in Brussels organized by UNICEF Belgium on the occasion of the International Day of Children's Rights today, November 20, 2013.

In the afternoon Mathilde attended a concert of Brussels children choir Shanti! Shanti! also on the occasion International Day of Children's Rights.

Today, December 5, Queen Mathilde has held a speech during the opening ceremony of the Business of Design Week (BODW) in Hong Kong and met with Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.
