In theory the birth can also take place on the 29th.
After that date I suppose the doctors will induce

On the official site of the BRF they post an engagement with Prince Philippe on April 17th. It's French and I don't understand it - can anyone translate if there is truly an engagement planned?

Because I'm thinking, why would he schedule work during a time his 4th child is expected? Maybe they know for sure a C-section is happening before the 17th?

The Baby is due 15 April not 17 April

Why would she have a C-section? she only had Elisabeth with C-section. The boys were born on a natural way.
May be we should be more patient . As I said it could well be later.

If my wife is due on April 15th - I naturally assume the baby will be born some time close to the 15th. Which could be either the 13th, 15th or 17th,etc..... Naturally I would make sure, as a husband, that I will be arround during that time. However, Philippe has an appointment on the 17th, chances are that Mathilde will be delivering their child in just that very moment. Hm?

My question: why would they schedule a work appiontment for Philippe on the 17th if not for the sure knowledge of having the baby in well enough time (say scheduled on the 14th)?

I'll be patient now.

Oh, I think Mathilde and Philippe have enough experience to deal with this in a reasonable way.
Activities can be cancelled or they could send Laurent instead. The distance Duffel-Anderlecht is less than 50km and Philippe is in the lucky position to be escorted by police. If necessary, he will be back rather fast. They already practised this stunt when Elisabeth was born and Philippe had to leave a work meeting in Flanders.
Happy waiting! ;)

Well, I don't know how things are planned for senior royals in Belgium, but in the UK their diaries/schedules are prepared up to a year in advance. This is to allow for all preparations (both for the organisers and for security) to be fully completed.

If this is so in Belgium, the event may have been agreed before the date of the pregnancy was known. Unless there is some emergency with the birth, he will no doubt carry out the official duty and fit his personal life around it. This is one of the 'down sides' of being royal or even a top politian. You have obligations.

I keep checking the this thread, hoping to hear of a healthy baby have been born to the Crown Prince and Princess...guess I'll just have to be a little more patient!

Dear Beck, I am also so excited when the little prince(ss) will be born. Nearly every second I hope that the baby has been welcomed to the world. But the ends of every pregnancy are so exciting and so thrilling. Let's see, on which day the baby is born. My feelings are for this week.

I too cant wait , I am all vase thinking that she just gave birth to a Beautiful Princess.

Did Mathilde also anounce that she's going to have a cesearian, or only that she is due the 15th? Because if it will be a natural birth there's no guarentee the baby will be born tomorrow, it could also be today (wishful thinking) or in 2 weeks. Sure hope the baby will be born tommorrow, can't wait to know if it's a boy or girl and what his/her name will be

There's a full moon next Sunday..:D so if she doesn't have a scheduled C-section tomorrow, wait until the end of the week!

No, she didn't say anything about a caesarian. Maybe, maybe not, we don't know. Elisabeth was a caesarian, but Gabriel and Emmanuel were natural births. So I would think she would try this time again a natural birth, but who knows.

I hope that Princess Mathilde is able to get a good night's rest at this point. IMO, the last few weeks of pregnancy can be uncomfortable.

Princess Mathilde kept a very busy schedule during her fourth pregnancy. I hope that all goes well for mother and baby.

I hope that everything will be good during delvering with both.

Why not due on 20 April? My name-day

I hope she has a easy time and a healthy baby. I also hope she has the baby on the 15th, it is my grandson's birthday.
I would love to see another Princess in the family.

does any body know at what time is the C section?

We don't know if there is going to be a c section and whether the baby is to be born today. Mathilde said she was due today, but if they have chosen a natural birth, there is no way of knowing when the baby will be born! So I guess we need to be patient

Would be a lovely birthday gift for daddy too if the baby decides to arrive today,as he celebrates his 48th.

Good heavens. She must be ready to explode by this point!

I thought that they would have induced labor by now since her due date was today, but some doctors like to wait and see if it will happen naturally

No, the due date is a guess date, it can be earlier or later, but normally they don't necessarily induce if it is only like one or two days later.
With my mother they waited two weeks (I think this is the most they wait) after the due date until they induced.
But one or two or three days later, no problem, just like one or two or three days earlier.

For a natural birth you have a birth-period of three weeks before due date up to two/two and a half weeks after due date.
Since this is baby nr.4 and it is supposed to be a natural birth you can assume that this birth will take place somewhere between March 26th and May 3rd. This period is perfectly OK for a birth a terme.
After May 3rd there will be an induced birth.
