Great pictures, Catherine. For some reason I love that photo of them on the train with, perhaps, their advisers? Thanks.

Yes, he's an F16 pilote and still flies now and then at the military base. He also has a helicopter (in a garage behind the castle of Laeken :)) that he flies himself. When Elisabeth was born a journalist asked him if he had been nervous during the delivery, he answered "No, I'm a pilote, I'm don't easily get nervous" Yeah yeah

There are some other princes like prince Charles and Andrew of England, who knows how to fly. But they are only roost-pilotes, that mean that they never did a flight alone. Our prince is a real pilote, he flought an Alpha-jet, Mirage and F16. He did 30 solo-flights. So in fact he was a real professional. But because now he doesn't fly enough to get to the limited minimum of flight hours, he only flies togheter with another pilote. That means that another pilote gets the plane in the air, and that Philippe does all the rest.

New years reception at the royal palace for the chairman and vice chairman of the European Parliament; the chairman, vice chairman and members of the European Commission; the permanent European representants and other, lesser known branches of the EU, which I won't bore you with enumerating here :)

Hannelore -- That last set of photos -- is it from today? I can't imagine it is but since purple seems to be a popular choice among the royals this fall it has made me wonder.

No, all the pics where she's wearing the blue (or purple or whatever) outfit are from January 24, 2004.

If anyone cares, the prize is 9.000 € and all the publicity of course. It originates from the financial donations made for their wedding.

Do you mean the 9,000E comes from funds received/invested from monies donated at the time of their wedding? What a fantastic idea. Do you suppose December 4th will be the first time we see Princess Mathilde following Emmanuel's birth?

Yes.

I hope it will be a bit sooner. Each year on the 15th of November king's feast is celebrated (the day the Belgian dynasty is celebrated), I'm hoping Mathilde will be present too...
