I hope the Royals have a nice trip to our city. It mentions the Mummers in the Inquirer article. I sure hope they get to hear one of the String Bands play. They are loads of fun. They are going to see some of the beautiful historic areas of our city. The mural area in West Philly can be dodgy but some neighborhoods are still kept quite nice. They have been talking about it on the local news a lot. I am sure it will get loads of coverage this weekend as we don't get many royal visits to our fair city. I hope they can get a Cheesesteak while they are here. I have never found a good Cheesesteak anywhere outside the immediate Philly area.

British public now fond of affection they share

LONDON - That charmingly buoyant Brit you might glimpse glad-handing his way through Philadelphia this weekend wasn't always that way.

Unfortunately, Prince Charles & Camilla are coming in to Philly on our coldest day since 2005. Today's high will be 23 degrees Fahrenheit with wind gusts of 20 to 30 miles an hour. Wind chills are around 0. Last night the city called a 'code blue'. This means police and homeless advocates go out and round up all homeless people and take them to shelters or the new code blue cafes wheather they want to go or not. They are made to stay there till the doors open at 6AM. Hopefully this will save some lives.

After today. the temps are due to go back to the 30 to 40 degree range.

Hopefully we'll get some nice pics of the ball -- just have to wait and see. And I'm not very good at waiting.

The best coverage (IMO) of their 2005 tour was by CBS, esp when they were in California - including unedited video footage. So far on this trip, CBS is doing the same thing. CBS 3 - Philadelphia's Source For Breaking News, Weather, Traffic and Sports

Default Philadelphia Intinerary

TRH do not have any public appearances this evening. They were wisked away to the Four Seasons Hotel upon their arrival at Philadelphia International Airport. I live/work within 2 miles from that Hotel and am subject to numerous street closures because of security concerns.

Tomorrow AM they visit Independence Hall, followed by the National Constitution Center, and a tour of Philadelphia's fabulous "wall murals" (F.Y.I. the Philadelphia Mural Arts project headed by Jane Golden is fantastic!); tomorrow evening, TRH will attend Philadelphia's most glamorous event of the year -- The Academy Ball -- celebrating the 175th Anniversary of Philadelphia's Academy of Music. They will be hosted by Leonore Annenberg. The "after party" is in the Bellevue ... a building in which I work (drats ... closed to us mere mortals for security reasons ... why wouldn't I go the work on a Saturday night?)

Sunday morning they will attend services at the Arch Street Presbyterian Church which includes a Chapel to St. David (or some other connection to Wales!).

All in all ... a wonderful treat to have royals so close to me!

Cheers!

On Your Toes, Blokes, 2 Highnesses Coming — Charles and Camilla

It has been just over a year since their Wellington boots last sloshed about on these shores, and it’s not as though that trip — billed as their first official overseas tour since being married in April 2005 — came off so smashingly that they, or an adoring American public, ought to be crying out for another.

Prince of Wales and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, have arrived in the US on a visit meant to focus on youth development, urban renewal and environmental conservation.

I have to admit, I am getting tired of it as well.
It really does suit Camilla but I would like to see something different.

I do believe this is a 2006 pic, not a 2007 one.

Yes, I just saw a CBS-coverage. They arrived in darkness and there was only a paparazzi-video from their hotel. Camilla wore a dark coat.
