the perfect example how the RF is putting the needs of the people it serves ahead of any drama their members decide to air out. i loved how charles (and other members) just carries on doing his bit to support the country - it speaks volumes that they released a statement on the sussexes saying they'll deal with it in private and carried on doing their usual work at a time when it matters the most.

as michelle obama recently pointed out, public service is about the people you serve, not about you, and charles is putting that into practice.

According to Victoria Ward from The Telegraph, The Prince of Wales and The Prince's Foundation are reportedly planning to open a new "craft training base" at Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire. The Highgrove Estate is also rumoured to be used as a home for these students/trainees. Unfortunately the article is behind a paywall.

I love the idea of Palaces on Wheels. For those interested Sanjeev Bhaskar (Kumars at no 42 etc), who is an Ambassador for the British Asian Trust is taking part as well.

Another "cash for access" scheme uncovered by a newspaper investigation: The Daily Mail obtained an email sent by Michael Wynne-Parker, a "society fixer" and friend of Prince Michael of Kent, on November 15, 2019.

His email stated that the client would pay a fee, suggesting £100,000 for two people, "to Willam Bortrick [editor of Burke's Peerage] representing HRH". It went on to state that Mr. Bortrick would remit 20% of the fee to the client, 5% to Mr. Wynne-Parker, and the balance to Dumfries House (a country residence of the Prince of Wales and the headquarters of The Prince's Foundation), and in exchange, the client would secure an invitation to dinner with the Prince of Wales and an overnight stay at Dumfries House.

The Prince of Wales, The Prince's Foundation, and Mr. Bortrick say they were unaware of the scheme. The Prince's Foundation announced it will cut ties with Mr. Wynne-Parker and Mr. Bortrick and its ethics committee will investigate.
 
Sounds rather concerning... And the response by the palace refers to them not knowing about 'middlemen' being paid. They are clearly fully aware that a large donation buys you access to the PoW.
 
The first one with Ben Elliot and Mr Amersi was only particularly interesting because he later became the Tory Party chairman in 2019 and involved a lot of political infighting that wasn't much to do with Charles. The dinner Charles had with Mr Amersi was years before that happened in 2013.

And yes "friends" defended that Charles has dinner with people looking to donate to The Prince's Trust: Friends have pointed out that Prince Charles has a number of charitable interests and it is no surprise he seeks funding from wealthy benefactors.


And he then joined the board of TPT for 5 years, so it was clearly a successful donor dinner.

Of course Ben Elliot allegedly using his family connections to earn personal money is suspect but the political aspect only happened years *after* Mr Amersi's dinner.

This latest one sounds a bit more complicated but it's not necessarily unethical for Charles to wine and dine wealthy people with the idea that they will make a large donation to his charities. Knowingly getting involved in everyone getting a personal cut would definitely be though. Which is why the ethics committee investigation.

Michael Fawcett, a longtime close aide to the Prince of Wales, temporarily resigned as chief executive of The Prince's Foundation after The Sunday Times and The Daily Mail revealed a letter written by him in 2017.


The bombshell letter, written by Mr Fawcett on August 18, 2017, to Busief Lamlum, an aide to Dr Bin Mahfouz, says: ‘In light of the ongoing and most recent generosity of His Excellency... I am happy to confirm to you, in confidence, that we are willing and happy to support and contribute to the application for Citizenship.

'I can further confirm that we are willing to make [an] application to increase His Excellency’s honour from Honorary CBE to that of KBE in accordance with Her Majesty’s Honours Committee.’

Writing on headed notepaper in his then capacity as chief executive of the Dumfries House Trust, he said: ‘Both of these applications will be made in response to the most recent and anticipated support [of] The Trust, and in connection with his ongoing commitment generally within the United Kingdom.

'I hope that this confirmation is sufficient in allowing us to go forward.’

The Sunday Times also obtained an email from William Bortrick, the editor of Burke's Peerage (who also allegedly represented the Prince in the previous cash-for-access scandal linked to The Prince's Foundation).


In an email obtained by The Sunday Times, William Bortrick, the editor of Burke’s Peerage, wrote: ‘[Michael Fawcett] needs to keep to his side of the bargain and sort out the Hon OBE immediately.’

The sheikh received the honorary CBE, for services to charity, from Prince Charles in a private Buckingham Palace ceremony in 2016.​


The Prince's Foundation says there will be an investigation. The donor, Dr Mafouz Marei Mubarak Bin Mahfouz, says he has "not had personal or direct communication to either request, influence or make any arrangements regarding citizenship or knighthood with Mr Fawcett, or anyone connected to HRH The Prince of Wales or The Prince’s Foundation".

Today's DM claims that The Prince's Foundation is bringing in an outside senior forensic accountant from one of the big firms to investigate. This might not necessarily be the impartial review that is implied.

According to Tom Bower's book "Rebel Prince", a number of these big firms do pro bono work for The Prince's charity organizations and in turn get invited to dine with Charles. They were excited to associate with The Prince, and even speculated about knighthoods. (page 212)

It's quite a tangled web!
