A speech by HRH The Prince of Wales at a reception at the National Botanic Garden of Wales

First of all I would like to thank you for this honorary fellowship. The Fellowship scheme, launched today, is an important way in which individuals in particular can develop their support for the Botanic Garden and its activities, and I am delighted to be asked to be its first member. I hope to be a jolly good honorary fellow!

Prince Charles is an ale natural

Anyone who has paid twice the price for cardboard-tasting organic vegetables that may have been stuck on a truck for a week, then cold-warehoused for a month, knows that organic isn't always the best deal.

Latest from Clarence House: TRH visit the Brilliant restaurant in Southall (west London)

Quote:
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall today visited an Indian restaurant which is backing a new campaign encouraging customers to ask where their food was produced.
Their Royal Highnesses sampled cheeses and vegetables at the Brilliant restaurant in Southall, west London, and chatted to restaurateurs and food suppliers.
The restaurant is part of the Just Ask campaign, which was launched earlier this year and aims to raise public awareness about the origin of food and reconnect consumers with British farming.

FARMERS across West Lancashire have received a boost from Prince Charles.
They have welcomed his calls for people to buy locally-grown produce.

I Thought this was only one of the signs up for consideration, but the Sun probably knows better!

^ Tetbury does seem like the kind of place that is touchy about things. I'm sure they will sort out the mess, though. In the end, Tetbury's council people must remember how much The Prince has done for the area since he bought Highgrove near three decades ago. I am sure they were already a fine area without him, but it can't be denied that he has brought so much more prestige and cachet, and the reputation of Highgrove has put the area on the world stage as far as organic gardening and produce are concerned. Say Highgrove to someone who really knows about organic agriculture and gardening, and it's a safe bet they know exactly what you are talking about.

I thought Prince Charles wants food to be organic, I guess he considers animals organic.

In Sting's autobiography, I think it was that I read, that he had been a vegetarian but when he acquired his estate in Wiltshire? including a home farm, he started eating their own meat "because it is organic and good". I really wondered about that. As if for organic meat no animals had been slaughtered.

But I do prefer buying organic meat as well, it's not that much more expensive but you get a much better quality.

I think you are a little puzzled about the difference between organic and vegetarian, as are many people. Then of course there is the difference between the various 'stages' of vegetarianism.

Organic meat is considered to taste much better than non-organic meat - with the quality of feed and treatment of the animals being key factors.
Indeed, there are a number of dimensions to the production of organic meat. Firstly it is necessary to feed animals with 95% organic feed annually

Organic meat has to be produced under a strict code of practice to ensure that the animals are treated in a humane way throughout their lives. We rear our herd in a traditional manner which produces healthy and contented animals which in turn produces fine organic meat. As they live in natural, stress-free conditions they produce the highest quality beef and lamb you can buy. Our Aberdeen Angus herd graze on lush pastures on our organic farm in Perthshire, Scotland. The organic beef and lamb is processed locally by a traditional butcher, to ensure the cuts of meat are of top quality and the animals are not stressed by travelling great distances.

The Prince of Wales: 'If that is the future, count me out'
August 13

In his most outspoken interview yet, The Prince of Wales attacks the 'disasters' of industrial farming while speaking to Jeff Randall.

(...) Were the Prince not heir to the throne, he would make an effective director of Greenpeace. From the delights of Scottish beef, he moves on seamlessly to the broader challenges of tourism, the landscape, buildings and waste management.

I think I, like many, totally agree with Charles. It is the ministers who are out of touch and don't understand the ramifications.

I´m sure Charles would also be criticized when he wouldn´t talk about important questions of human life.
What a boring Prince he would be.... ...maybe so interesting like is brothers are...
I know that people think he shouldn´t tell us his opinions because he will be the next King.
But at the moment he´s ( only) the Prince of Wales and I adore him because he wants to fight for a better world and i totally agree with his refusel of GM food.
