Britain's Prince Charles is greeted by a crowd on the Georgetown University Campus in Washington, Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005. The Prince was attending a faith Group Seminar at the University as part of 8-day tour of the United States by the Prince and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Part of the Prince's speech from last night: Good sense of humor on him. :)

PRINCE CHARLES: Mr. President, Mrs. Bush, ladies and gentlemen, can I just say what a joy it is for both my wife and myself to be with you here in the White House? It brings back many fond and happy memories of my first visit here with my sister. I think it was in 1970, when we came to stay at the White House for the weekend with President and Mrs. Nixon, at the time when the media were busy trying to marry me off to Tricia Nixon. (Laughter.) And it's very interesting to see the same sort of thing happening to my eldest son. (Laughter.) So it seems to be an entirely hereditary feature. (Laughter.) Mr. President, Sir Winston Churchill, whose mother was, of course, American, and whose bust you have in a place of honor in the Oval Office once said after one of his 16 visits to the United States over some 66 years, "The friendliness of the Americans to the traveler from Britain, their unfailing kindness, their generous hospitality are something to marvel at." Well, nothing has changed, Mr. President. We have both most certainly experienced the same generosity and friendliness since our arrival yesterday. And this has been the case on every previous visit I have ever made to this remarkable country.

Part of the President's speech from last night:

THE PRESIDENT: Your Royal Highness, it is a great honor for Laura and me to host you and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall at the White House. Your visit is a reminder of the unique and enduring bond between the United Kingdom and the United States. Americans know that we have no greater friend than the United Kingdom. And it's my sincere hope that the United Kingdom knows it has no greater admirer than the United States. Our nations are intimately linked through deep historical and cultural ties, through active commercial and political bonds, and through shared values. Nowhere are those shared values more nobly expressed than in our common commitment to expanding freedom in this world.
In the first part of the 20th century, our nations stood together to ensure that fascism did not prevail in Europe. In the second half of the 20th century, we worked tirelessly to defeat the totalitarian ideology of communism. And today we're fighting side by side against an ideology of hatred and intolerance to ensure that the 21st century will be one of liberty and hope.

That dress is stunning on her, the color, the pattern, she hit the bullseye dead on with this one. I love her necklace.

I was not a fan for Duchess's outfit of deep blue much, but she looked alright for the functions today and yesteday but the Duchess looked really wonderful in her new dress at the Reception at the British Embassy. She has done really great work so far, and seems has been charmed the American as well.

I like her hair so much better like that. She has had that necklace for a while but she has finally worn it. I like it and it is not one of her signature pearls. The dress is much more wow than anything else she has worn on the visit.

Lady Marmalade, I couldn't agree more! I can't wait for more and better pictures, so we can see the dress in full. She looks spectacular! This trip should really put paid to those who have been keen to dismiss her as a frump. She's looked very smart indeed.

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum even thugh I've been lurking about for over a year I'd just like to say theat C&C have done a great job on thier visit to the USA and I'm glad for them.

Camilla's choice of fashion too has been quite good nothing to go wow about but a hell of a lot better than me on my good days. She's very consistent with her choices. I hope she keeps it up.

With respect, SOME of our tabloid papers are being catty towards her. Our respectable papers and other news media are not. We have a little more tact than that in this country.

If I were you, I would visit the unofficial royal family pages and then click current news and you can see the job SOME of the British papers are doing on her.

Well, we know what sells papers and what doesn't, and quiet appreciation of a job well done is one of those things that unfortunately doesn't.

I thought the dress was going to be a full length gown. She has gone with a new look with this dress.

I think if it were a full-length gown made of fabric like that, it'd be the sort of occasion where Prince Charles would be dressed more formally too.

I am sorry..I am just not feeling the colors. Last night's gown (at the White House dinner) would have been great in gold/yellow. Tonights gown would have shown better in black/blue. Other than that, I think the dress designs are beautiful.

Tonight's gown was good but a little too shiny in the flash pictures. I'm happy to see a departure from all of the blue outfits. Mrs. Bush looked stunning last night.
I think Camilla has worn tonight's necklace before, a few years ago during one of her debut outings as (officially) Charles' girlfriend.
