What a stupid article! The guardion couldn't help itself and come up with such a nonesense! Made the visit 'irrelevant', honestly.

On a happier note, the Duchess and the Prince of Wales both looked incredibely well during the visit. They are a great team.

I was wondering that too, Avalon. The answer is in the BBC article link that skydragon posted.

Apparently C&C have some common sense along with a good sense of diplomacy and good will. Prince Frederik and Princess Mary were given a pair of Tasmanian devils from an Australian group when their first son was born and those Tasmanian devils caused quite the headache at the Danish wildlife organizations.

I thought that was a very strange gift. Tasmanian devils are irascible little beasties at the best of times.

OTOH, that yak would certainly have kept the grass under control at Highgrove.

I think Camilla is a great asset to the Royal Family. She is so warm and friendly, and she and Charles really get on so well together. It must make the stress of always being on show on these tours, with all the media ready to jump (showing an ankle - for heaven's sake!!), that much more bearable to share it with a loving companion. Well done, the pair of them.

I thought it strange too Roslyn. But I've never been a fan of giving people a pet as a surprise gift anyway even if its just a dog or cat.

I'm sure the Fred and Mary didn't want to offend the group by refusing the Tasmanian devils and that was very kind of them but I think C&C came up with a much more practical and yet gracious response to an unexpected gift.

I don't know what they were whispering about, but it looks really sweet. Thanks for the picture Hornsen.

Probably because there's a reporter ready to pick up every word they say and reprint it in tomorrow's newspaper.

Gifts for Charles fascinate UK

Unusual gifts presented to Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall by commoners during their recent visit to Pakistan have generated a lot of interest in the UK and their details are being discussed here.

And this is why I think Camilla is fab. Re : the hat;

I can't say I disagree with your opinion of Camilla
She didn't just keep the hat with her, she actually put it on, and I must say it suited her!

Here are the pics:

Camilla puts the hat on, Prince Charles admires the effect

I agree! HRH seems to really value the gifts people give her. And it's something that she seems to do all the time. She replied to my letter personally and included a photograph I'd spoken about. She replies to other people's letters, she actually uses the gifts she's given and she really seems to be grateful when people give her compliments - they mean something to her. And in return, she means something to us.

I also like it very much to see the pics, when Camilla tasted the fruits the people presented to her, or when she bought on a market the mortar, as a gift for her son.
She enjoys the contact to the people and her kindness and being down to earth, makes her to a very special and valuable member of the Royals!

It is nice to see Camilla adapting to all this rather well. She seems to enjoy herself, and at the end of the day....that's what is important. She looked good on this trip too.

Found this video

Itīs somehow strange, seemed to be filmed by an Pakistani attendant. At one point it is very sweet, Charles has to undertake a short trip alone and fondles Camillaīs hand for goodbye (between 18th and 19th minute).
