I remember seeing a documentary about the trip to Angola. very interesting and princess Diana did a great job working for a ban against landmines.
But the pictures taken on a field, where she´s holding a lindmine and laughting, is a little "disturbing" imo.
I wonder why she laughed?!

I looking pictures thread when she wores same dress in about 1995 i think so! then later in 1997 same dress! when Diana was in Angola i knew it Diana love same dress for special occasion.

Excellent pictures jun5! Such a shame that just as Princess Diana was involving herself in such an important cause and bringing so much attention to landmines and helping victims and elminiting the use of landmines, she died. But glad to hear that other royals, including Queen Noor and Princess Astrid of Belgium, are taking up the cause now, despite the void left by Diana.

´this trip must be one of the moust famous trips made by the princess

Yes, and it's a much healthier way to remember her than all that cavorting around the Mediterranean with Dodi.

A+ for Di's Angola fashion

When Diana visited Angola, she got her fashion right. It was natural, and it was casual. Princesses like Mary, and the Crown Princess of Belgium nowadays go for elegant/glam casual while visiting Africa. While it still works, it does not come close to hitting the same note, and the message sent out is not as clear.
But unlike Diana, these ladies are not as naturally elegant. They have to sometimes use their clothes as a tool to portray elegance. Diana never had to. While she used her clothes as a tool to communicate, Diana never had to use them to portray elegance. She just was elegance.
JMHO....:flowers:;)

I never looked at clothing as a way to portray elegance, but I can see how it can be (and is) done. I always noticed Diana's good deeds and acts of kindness, and didn't even know she was a fashion icon until after her death, when it all started to pour out (and when my mother became obsessed with having a Diana-style hair cut). This woman was extraordinary, because she managed to capture people with her personality, kindness and compassion (and even those of us who have never had a chance to meet her in person).

I respectfully disagree with you:flowers:. I think all three women are part of these anoying women who look good in everything they put on:ermm:. They just have different styles in their clothing. The most important thing is though, that what they wear don't distract from the issue at hand, and IMHO they succeded in that. Besides the press would have a field day if Mary or astrid turned up in cropped chinos and a sleeveless shirt:whistling:. They would be accussed of copy catting.

I see your copy- catting point. And people do wish to see royalty look like royalty.
But there is a difference in the 3 women's outfits, though all outfits were suitable.
There is no way a person could look at a photo of Diana in that outfit , and say anything but " This woman is here out of nothing but pure compassion." No questions or doubts. She was 100% simple natural elegance. She did need clothes to comnicate with the public, and to do her job, but not as a tool to add elegance. She already naturally was.
Mary and Astrid however, look at their clothes, however, simple, but still bordering on glam, and you might wonder, " Are they trying to say " Look at me, and all my good works"
Now, IMO, Astrid and Mary are just as compassionate as Diana was, but to some people viewing their photos, their clothes might send out mixed messages.

Paula Dos Santos must be a tall woman, because Diana in those heels would have been six feet tall!

Yes wasn't the Princess around 5''10?

Sadly some men find that intimidating in a woman.
