Help with a mystery Diana press photo
Hi
Does anyone have any information on the Diana photo in the link below? http://royalrelic.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ I know that it was taken at Lambourn stables but would like to know the exact date and source so that I can get a better copy. Its appeared in a Diana book but again dont know which one, if you know, again please let me know. I have a feeling it may of been taken on 28th February 1981, 4 days after they announced their engagement, but not 100% sure. Thanks in advance. |

I doubt Diana would be chased by photographers like this AFTER the engagement. I may be incorrect but I think she would have been safely tucked away and shielded from the press by the palace machine, until her first public apprearance later in March 1981.
There would also be no point to chasing her, the press had their story of the engagement, unless the pic was taken right BEFORE the announcement. |

My impression of the photo, when I saw it, was "NOT" that she was trying to get away from the press, but that she was telling someone "to open a gate" as though she was in a great hurry. (but, this is only mho. I may be wrong in interpreting it as such.) It was during the time when Charles' "edict" was not to be photographed with anyone he was dating at the time in order not to spoil the relationship. He was given that advice by his honorary grandfather, Lord Mountbatten, according to what I have read since 1980.

Very thanks for posting these pictures
 I think the fourth one is of 1991 or 1992 because of the hair style, the first of 1995 and the second of 1997 because of the same reason, but I'm not sure, sorry ...

It is a thin white shawl and she is wearing green clothes. She looks a bit up in the sky :)
