I can help you out and end the investigation

The pics with Keith Haring were taken in August 1989, I have a
magazine with an article about the event, here it is:

** Caroline and Keith Haring in 1989 **

On one of the pics you can also see Princess Antoinette!

Thanks Ice!
I love that there's just randomly a telephone in the middle of this huge art piece. It's whimsical, to me. I remember that there was protest in Monaco when Keith being commissioned to do the artwork. I think the argument was something along the lines that it was a "potential danger for future generations", or something like that.

Ah, what a star! I can only hope to age as gracefully and eloquently as she. :)

The dress she's wearing in the aforementioned pic actually reminds me of Caroline Kennedy's wedding dress from 1986, especially the upper part:
http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/503...AFC5CF6109BBC7

By the way, thank you to whomever posted the link to the exquisite picture gallery of Princess Caroline. It took me about 2 hrs. to browse through them all ~ each like looking at a wonderful piece of art ~ Stock Images – Corbis

I had forgotten how extraordinarily beautiful Princess Caroline was as a young lady. She looks like Natalie Wood in the very first pictures. Her beauty truly rivals her daughter at that age. She must be so proud. And in turn Charlotte can look at her mother and see how serene and lovely she will look at Caroline's age. :)

Physical beauty eventually fades away over time, thus the reason why inner beauty is so important ~ kindness, compassion, strength of character, intelligence, duty, a sharp mind, resolve, wit ~ these treasures are worth a pot of gold in comparison to transient beauty. I hope when Princess Caroline's daughter, Charlotte, eventually marries, her future spouse will see beyond her outward physical beauty, and marry her for the wonderful person she is inside. When one does so, the marriage will last forever, in my humble opinion. :)

ps: I speak from experience.

You're 100% right, Nadine. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Charlotte's 'Mr. Right' choice. I am posotive that Caroline, a marvellous mother, is very much experienced, wise and caring, will not let the history repeat letting her daughter marry too young, like Grace did, even though the situation was a bit diffrent back then. IMO best for her would be marrying someone similiar to her - modest, intelligent, not the flamboyant type.

Princess Grace did not "let" her daughter marry too young. Princess Caroline gave her parents little choice in the matter. They were opposed to her marrying anybody at the age of only 21 and said so. Caroline informed them that she would live with Junot out of wedlock if they refused their permission. The Prince and Princess wished to avoid the scandal that this would have caused in Roman Catholic Monaco in 1978 and so they relented.

I doubt Princess Caroline will have much influence in the man her daughter eventually marries either. Parents usually do not.

I agree. And I feel that Caroline just wants her daughter to be happy. I don't think it really matters to her if her future son-in-law is a bad boy or whatever, and even if she did disapprove, I doubt she'd show it.
I'd like to point however that Caroline has a better mother-daughter relationship with Charlotte than she had with her own mother, if only because both Grace and Caroline had very strong wills and when they pulled in different directions they really pulled in different directions, you know? I'm not trying to make their relationship out to be some sort of soap opera style though. I'm only saying that Caroline is like best friends (okay, maybe not best friends, but very congenial) with Charlotte. I don't think you could say the same of Caroline's relationship with Grace. They're the sorts of people that would have never socialised together, were they not related. JMO.

I never got that impression of PG and PC. I always felt that PC was rebelling against being a royal and even the Monegasque/French culture. PC seemed close with her American cousin Gracie and saw how much more freedom American girls had at that time. PC alluded to that in her Barbara Walters interview. PG also remarked in her last interview what an eye-opener it was for PA when he went to Amherst. How much more independence American teenagers were given than Europeans.

Of course, Caroline married for freedom, in the same way that many young European girls of the time did. However, I don't like this whole idea that Europe was austere during that time. It wasn't. Reserved, and nowhere near as wild as America, absolutely but for some people to make it out as though Europe was some Draconian place struggling against the development of freedom is a little... melodramatic. It's not like Americans had every freedom and Europeans none.
If geography had any part to play in Caroline's decision to marry, I think it was for freedom from her small corner of Europe. Monaco is a small town. Caroline has written and talked about that. In America they had more freedom, but they had that even in Paris. She, along with Albert and Stephanie, wanted adventure and excitement, which they couldn't get in Monaco. Partly because of the way the Monegasque people are. They're warm-hearted and like Caroline said in 1985, they own you bit. I sense that they truly love the Grimaldis (I hesitate to point out that they are a Roman Catholic country, as I don't want to put any prejudice on them but in truth, back in the 60s and 70s, they probably thought along the same line as every other Catholic in the world). But it's partly because their parents made it that way. That's one advantage of owning the entire town - you can monitor a person's every move within it. Rainier and Grace were not the sort of parents to forbid their children from doing something - in fact, in terms of parenting, they was quite ahead of their time. But they had very firm conviction in their beliefs and their ideas of right and wrong. I feel that Caroline tried to rail against that, or at least distance herself from her parents' authority, as every teenager does in a bid to discover their own autonomy.

Out of all Princess Caroline's children, I'm the most curious to see whom Charlotte will marry. Will she end up like her mother? married three different times? to three rather wild men, whom flout society & its rules, and dary I say God's law & commandments? Or will she choose a totally different route?

So far Charlotte has managed to avoid marrying at 21 yrs. of age to a man almost twice her age, a cheater to boot! But she's still so young, I wonder what life holds for her?

She reminds me so much of her mother in terms of looks (twins really), but totally different imho when it comes to personality. In that I mean she seems more reserved, shy, sensitive, and most importantly seems to listen to her parent, something headstrong Princess Caroline never did imho. I hope she continues to listen to her mother's advice, whom has lived life & seen it all, and can look back on it and see where she could've made better decisions...

My sincere hope is that Charlotte does not end up marrying a bad boy, but I know females tend to be attracted to the bad boy instead of the good guys. It will be interesting to see what she does...

Thecia I think you and I are basically saying the same thing. Nadine I think Charlotte looks like PC but has PG's personality. She is shy but also tough, and seems so far to have alot of common sense. Alex allows her to live a little on the edge and get it out of her system. I don't see her marrying him. If she is truly serious about her horse riding, I don't see her marrying anyone until she is around age 30. I agree it will be interesting to see what happens.

^It's a funny cute photo, and the Princess resebles me on this one

And it's great to see members of our forum supporting this poor woman. I hope there won't be any miscarriage of justice there. The whole thing is just horrible.

So the both of us are Caroline's virtual sisters from the 70's/80's? Actually I was from 50's through the late 80's, then I've developed some health problems, but that's life...

I think Caro married Junot with a great deal of personal initiative and sense of independence to break away and create because she anticipated the marriage of Pa before 2011 -and that she would be sidelined anyway so why not make a life of her own?And she went into with all the good intentions and was we know Junot did the cheating so Caro had to leave as she was still young and would not tolerate a husband that did not suddenly have the values he said he did.
In all pics that I have seen of Caro in the seventies and eighties she is radiant and has that star quality which still emanates from her today.
In the seventies her face is a bit fuller and her eyebrows thinner and I think she was more tanned. in pics- and that is about all that has changed. Caro was photogenic then and continues to be so now

Woh rerehh what a lovely selection. Thank you. I laughed at your 1984 pic - not the best time for fashion. Loving the earrings in 1986, & the second image in 1987 is a very glamorous Caroline (I think at the Red Cross Ball that year).
