Princess Caroline & Vincent Lindon

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I've seen the third one before and thought it looked like they were arguing but didn't know what event it was from. I love the look on everyone else's faces. They're all just like "What? What argument? I don't see an argument, do you?" :ROFLMAO: Even Jean-Cristophe isn't smiling! When's the last time that happened? Even though I think it's a little unsavoury to photograph a couple arguing, I bet the paps were like "SCORE!" Thanks Anne!

I wonder if Vincent had any contact with Caroline's young children after the break-up. He was a loving father figure for many years. It would be upsetting to the children to suddenly lose their father figure, VIncent. And just as devastating as when they had lost their own father, Stephano. Ernst was in their lives for 10 years, now he is gone. Granted, the older three were adults when Ernst left. But just the same, Caroline's children have been given all the love and maternal care that Caroline could give. Sadly fate prevented the protection and love that a father provides.....has anyone seen recent pictures of Ernst? Did he just dissapear? Or no one wants to take his picture?

Well, he was photographed in Libya for Gaddafi's 40th year in power celebrations, then there were photos of him at that calendar premiere and then the photos in Thailand. I think the answer to that would be a rather resounding, no, they don't really want to take his picture anymore. I think they only ever did because he was married to Caroline. I mean, I'm sure he has merits of his own but the main reason the press paid so much attention to him was because he was Caroline's man.
I too have often wondered how the trio felt about just losing someone that had been a fatherly, protective, stable influence in their lives after the death of Stefano but they no doubt understood. If they broke up around 1997 (?), that would have made Pierre ten, Charlotte eleven and Andrea thirteen - they probably understood a great deal. I'm not trying to minimize the emotional factor here, because after that long a period of time, you naturally build a bond with someone, and no doubt it would have been painful for them but I'm sure (and particularly so with Caroline as their mother) they understood and probably accepted what happened. Besides, I don't think Vincent disappeared totally from their lives. As far as I can remember, he was seen somewhere with or around them (can someone clarify that for me? :ermm:) in the early part of the last decade. I only think though, I can't remember for sure. :ermm:

I just had a random thought in relation to my previous post - surely they still see each other occasionally. It is a rather tenuous link but Caroline is friends with Diane Kruger (Diane apparently bonded with Ernst over them both coming from Hanover) and Diane became friends with Vincent when they worked on "Anything For Her" together. I'm sure there are other connections to, just because of who they both socialise with. Maybe only through acquaintances they bump into each other at a party once in a while. I'd like to think they do. I think Caroline is mature enough to see that Vincent got her through a rather difficult period in her life and her children's lives and I'm sure she's grateful for that. Or maybe I'm just over-romanticizing it. :ermm:

Vincent Lindon came into contact with Caro and Charlotte at the exhibition of Princess Grace jewels by Mikimoto in December 2001. Caro and Vincent chatted and there was a pic of caro bringing char into the conversation, with her hand on char's shoulder, and vincent was smiling so broadly as he looked at Charlotte. He looked so proud, like a father. :)

Yeah, I remember that! :D This is the pic you're talking about, right? And the play that Caroline went to see that Vincent was in. Sort of gives the impression that they're still friends. Happiness all 'round!

Have you ever seen that picture from another angle.
He doesn't look like Vincent to me.

Thecia , the man in the photo you have posted is not Vincent Lindon. He seems much older.

I would argue that for being five (?) years younger than Caroline, Vincent has always looked older than Caroline but yes, I think you're right. However, I was repeating what was said by CT in this post.

Okay, two years younger then. The five years thing was just off the top of my head. ;)

Princess Caroline and Vincent Lindon began their relationship in 1991 - I was living in France at the time and I remember the press was speculating about the nature of their relationship as early as March/April 1991.

She attended the launch of Pacha with Prince Rainier (and possibly, Albert) in the spring of 93 (if my memory serves me correctly) - I remember a very chic greyish or beige suit and a scarf and she had had her hair cut into that very short bob again.

Thank you, Florestane! I find the years with Lindon very romantic. I was watching Caroline through the press and I admired her strength and courage.

I also remember reading in the American tabloids that Princess Caroline was in a romance with Vincent Lindon only a few months after Stefano's death, even that they were living together by spring 1991.

This surprised me since the memory of her grief at his funeral was still so vivid at the time.

I always figured they were already in a relationship. I never believed the fairy tale story of her second marriage.

:previous: Neither did I, honestly.

But her grief for him at his tragic death was genuine. That was definitely real.

I also wonder how shortly after Stefano she was involved with Lindon. What do you mean, Frelinghighness, about the "fairy tale"? I thought this couple was truly in love.

I remember also, around March 1991, only 5 or 6 months after Stefano' loss. It quite early after such an enormous grief. On the other side, she was only 34 with 3 kids, life goes on. I believe that even with Vincent she was still mourning. She never become as before.
I strongly believe the perfect love with Stefano. Pictures can not lie. The Stefano périod she was absolutely glowing, this can not be feinted.

I believe you and Moonmaiden are wrong, Fandesacs. P. Caroline met Lindon at a literary dinner while Stefano was still alive. Stefano died the 3rd October 1990 and the first pics of P. Caroline and Lindon came out in the spring of 1992, a year and a half after Stefano's death... :ermm:

I believe that anyone going through a traumatic loss and / or grief is not thinking very clearly. The shocking circumstances around his death for Princess Caroline and the children are unimaginable. Alot of people bounce into relationships after a death/seperation/divorce. I know when I seen that funeral my heart went to Princess Caroline and her Children.

I'm sorry i made a spelling mistake. Caroline was seing with Vincent in March 1991 (not 1992, as I wrote) and this I m absolutely sure.
What I do not know is when and where they met. But meeting someone does not mean having a romantic affair.
I refuse to believe that Caroline being with Stefano, was "seing another man"
Firstly because she was fully in love with him, secondly because sge was in Monaco constantly with her official role and her kids and thirdly because paparazzis would not have miss her! They managed to find her in Galapagos with Guillermo Vilas, or years after in Thailand with Prince EA.

Actually, I still have magazines from that period and they are definitely from spring and summer 1991. Also, I was no longer living in France in 1992 and I remember the speculation in the press as to the nature of Caroline and Vincent's relationship while living there. It may not have been romantic so early but he was present in St. Remy often enough to cause discussion. There were even pictures, just before Caroline cut her hair short, of her wearing exactly the same shirt Lindon had been seen in - a dark blue Provençal print.

You are right that they already knew each other before Stefano died and I don't think there is any suggestion they were romantically involved before his death.

From my own point of view, I think Caroline was genuinely grief-stricken when widowed but also, life is for the living. Until very recently, she was certainly never a woman who seemed able to function without a romantic partner. I think Vincent London was there for her during a difficult period of her life and I liked how they seemed as a couple - I think he appealed to her more intellectual side.

It is true that we never saw pictures of them showing any feeling situation, they were just two good friends spending time in the countryside together with kids. But of course they had a relationship, otherwise what was Vincent doing with them?

Just because Caroline and Lindon were only first photographed together in 1992 does not preclude their involvement before that.

I distinctly remember reading about Vincent Lindon spending lots of time with the widow Caroline and her children in Provence only a few months after Stefano's death...in both the French, American and British gossip press. This was in the spring and summer of 1991. As Florestane has pointed out, Caroline was a very passionate young woman..in love with love apparently. Up until her marriage with Ernst-August, she was always linked romantically with a man since her late teens, always. She has changed and mellowed a great deal from those days.

I have always suspected that at least part of the reason she decamped to Provence from Monaco so soon after Stefano died was to grieve in peace...and to carry on with her private life away from gossip and prying eyes in Monaco.

For the record I do believe Caroline and Stefano loved one another but I have read enough about how they got together and Stefano's background to believe that it was not a fairy tale perfect marriage.

Moonmaidem, could you please, write some odetails about Stefano's background and their acqaintance?
Concerning Lindon, I remember after Stefano's death Caroline spent her first Christmas in Jamaica (not in the snow) with her children, Rainier and Stephanie. After New Year's eve she stayed alone with children and an old friend of hers: Robertino Rosselini. I had seen some pics of them in the mags. She was also involved with Robertino after her mother's death. Until then she was with Villas.

So why they drifted apart?
