From a family standpoint switching denominations makes sense. However, I wonder whether there is a translation issue in the royal musings article as it talks about being baptized in the Catholic faith. As the Roman Catholic church recognizes Lutheran baptism, I don't think her introduction into the Roman Catholic church included a baptism.

I have two questions...how does Alexandra's choice affect her inheritance rights in the House of Hanover?

And why did she do it...she must know that her father will probably be very disappointed.

For a while now it has appeared that Alexandra is more Grimaldi than Hanover. She not only spends more time in Monaco with her maternal family, I cannot remember even seeing her with Ernst-August since she became a young adult.

I always thought that E-A very much wanted a daughter so this is surprising and sad...unless his rumored disease has impacted and damaged the relationship(which often happens).

She looks more Hanoverian and is close to her half brothers E-A Jr and Christian, but the link with her paternal side seems to end there.

Life with an addicted family member is hard. I cannot imagine what it's like when it's your parent. I'm sure Caroline and all of her siblings have been a tremendous support in her relationship with her father. After all, she's the youngest.

If course we can say that it does not mean anything but I don't believe that prince Ernst managed to fully hide any moments spent with his daughter. For these type of celebrities it is impossible to completely escape from papz. We saw Alexandra spending time with her entire family except with her dad.

I never thought of Princess Alexandra being that religious but I don't think in 2016 its really a big deal even for the Royal Houses of Europe. I firmly believes ones religion is a private matter.

I wonder if there will be a meeting with the Pope?

I agree. Alexandra has always seemed closer to her mother than her father, though she still seems to socialise with her Hanoverian half-brothers (and I'm sure I've seen photos of Caroline with them on occasions too). I agree with Moonmaiden too in that she seems to definitley be more of a part of the Monegasque family than the Hanoverian family.

She may have done it some time ago. It makes sense that when others in the Lutheran church would have been confirmed she most likely wasn't as she probably hasn't attended a Lutheran church for a long time (unless her Hannover-brothers take her to church when she is with them - but one of them married a Catholic, so not a staunch Lutheran either). So, at some point she apparently decided that it would make more sense to be confirmed in the church she at least visits once in a while with the rest of her family.

Given the lives of the Monegasque family few of them seem to take the church's teachings seriously. Nonetheless, as long as they formally are Roman Catholics the Pope and bisshops will happily receive them.

Princess Alexandra of Hanover has been removed from the British line of succession according to Point de Vue-magazine.

The 19-year-old princess is the daughter of Prince Ernst August of Hanover and Princess Caroline of Monaco. The Princess has recently become a member of the Catholic Church and this the reason why she has been removed from the British line of succession. However, she remains the 12th in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne.
