Its really sad if she really quit her study, maybe if she's no more interested in philosophy then she can change to be a graduate fashion designer or enter any publishing house... is she really quit? We haven't receive any Charlotte's news since last week, so I think the fall semester has begun.. is it correct?

I do not think you were wrong, actually. I didn't mean to imply it, by any means. I truly think you might have been right. I think, yes, that she has some friends who are accomplished, but at the same time, she has friends who seem ........ how can I say it nicely? I can't.
Well, case in point: Eugenie Niarchos. What is she besides a socialite? An heiress? She studied at NYU, I think, but what did she study? Does she work? No.... She goes to parties, fashion shows. That's it. Or that's all we see. This is the kind of person I would be sad to see Charlotte emulate.

I might be wrong but I think the French universities start the term in October after the Toussaint (All Saints) holiday. But Charlotte has her degree, her License of Philosophy, now. So if she doesn't want to go further with academics, I guess she is done. I hope she will proceed in academics, though I know I've said this dozens of times already.

^ I think you were right when you said "that's all we see", and truth to be told we don't see much, just occasional photos (esp. during the school year) exept in summer. So they might be doing whatever, studing, working, etc. I think almost all of them come from old money and classy families where education probably is a must. IMO

It seems to me that familes from old money seem to have limited options, whether this be by nature or merely by choice. We are all commenting on Charlotte and the possibility of her not continuing her studies. But, say she were, what exactly is she to do with it? What can she do?
I mean, all of us on this forum probably have gone or are currently going to university and continuing our education (in whatever means possible) and afterwards we are going to walk on several beaten paths to be able to support ourselves - and our options are open because we desperately need to find a way to 'replenish' ourselves. But when you have the inheritance that the Casiraghis have, what's the point? They don't have to work a day in their lives. I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't want to see that happening to them. But unfortunately it already seems to be the case for Andrea. Hopefully they can do something fruitful and exciting and not merely just for show or representing a symbolic event.

Shappica, I understand your point. I do think of this, that Eugenie could be working or studying at anything, and we would probably never find out because, let's face it, who in the media cares to report on it? It's not like news about her makes copies fly off the shelves.

Talula, I also understand what you mean, but I can't agree. On one hand, yes, what is the point of trying, studying, working when there is no fundamental motivation to do so? On the other hand, in exchange for the lack of fundamental needs, they have the financial freedom to make their dreams come true. They can do anything they want, utterly uninhibited by the need to put food on the table.

I'm very sorry to the moderators. I won't say anymore on this topic here. This is for pictures, I know. I'm sorry again for taking the thread in the wrong direction.

Moderators, please redirect the thread in the direction you feel appropriate, but I really want to reply to the last posts. As I am currently reading on Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, I realize that indeed old money, a tradition of education, social values and public service can highly motivate you to follow into the footsteps of your forefathers as Caroline Kennedy demonstrated by going back to school to study for a law degree, passing the bar exam at the age of 30, while pregnant with her first child. If anything, it gave her credibility in her further enterprises. I think the young women CasiraghiTrio has been talking about are made of the same mould and there is no reason Charlotte, with a ruling prince as a grand-father, can't also find a worthy goal in life, doing her part for the improvement of the world, again, with credentials most of us can only dream of. In my opinion, she just needs the proper stimulating environment, and certainly, as CasiraghiTrio pointed out, it's present in her life. I have high hopes for this young woman. In my opinion, socialites are a thing of the past, (honestly, who reads society columns nowadays?) and Charlotte is very much of this century, endowed with the strength of character and discipline of both her grandmother and mother and more (meaning, in this post-feminist age, maybe knowing she can accomplish more than just heading charities.)

I agree with all of yoy but mostly talula because the truth is that we (who study in order to get degree and find a good job) can't know what the motivation for someone who is loaded for life, might be. But I imagine it's very different from ours!

Yeah..what's the value of a degree to those group? They have all they want in life...however, sometimes we need direction. Cert can be bought but not the knowledge.. I'm not really sure what can 'philosophy' contributes to Charlotte's skill in the future but since she may be a bookworm, so that can be applied. For Pierre, they did state that he has ambition to handle his father's business, that's the reason he pursue for economy course. Andrea..he might rule someday, so any degree good for him..

CasiraghiTrio, seriously I'm not really aware abt the system in France's universities. You did mention she already has a degree, but did she graduate?.. I mean maybe a ceremony. But if she continues her study this fall, what's next (which certificates)? ..

Charlotte does have some very successful friends: Juliette has a degree in business (interestingly enough, as I think she is now pursuing an acting career) though she is also a graduate student at HEC Paris. Olympia Scarry is an art student and writes art reviews in London; interestingly enough (there's that phrase again) she wrote a review of one of Dellal's (imho horrible) exhibitions at Hoxton Sq.
Are any of her reviews online?...I love her! Ever since I read her social diary in British Vogue a few months back...I thought she was great and that article the times did on her.

There is something, but I made a mistake. I forgot Olympia didn't actually write this review. She is an artist and one of her works was featured in a show at the Hoxton Sq gallery of Alex Dellal and Adam Waymouth. The review is by one Laura K Jones.

A pic of Olympia's featured "art" precedes the article. Further down under the next art, Olympia's work is described by the author.

Wow, great pic. Mario is enjoying that, isn't he? Alejandro looks good next to her. He's much older but doesn't look it. He's single now, right? I know he dated Eugenia Silva but apparently no longer. Single, handsome, rich!

She is distracted. She was talking to that hottie Alejandro, and Mario came up and touched her arm (as evidenced in the pic) and insisted on the quick pose for the photograph, quite taking her off guard.
