Why not? I would understand it if we were talking about a daughter of Prince Charles because women usually have the problem with the ticking biological clock, but a guy? Prince Nikolaos of Greece comes to my mind who's finally engaged now at age 40. William, 27 years old, is in no hurry IMO.
edit: I know that Nikolaos is not a heir to a heir, but I see no big problems if a Prince marries in his 30's. Times are changing.

I agree with Iluvbertie's assumption that he won't marry before 2013 and who knows if Kate by then is still on his side? Wishful thinking is understandable, but not very helpful in this case.
I only hope that William will marry when he's absolutely sure and ready and in love of course!

I get what you're saying, but if he loves this particular girl and wants kids with her then sooner than later is the right move for her. Nikolas was never in the same position as William, so the comparison seems off.

I agree with you concerning Kate. I think for her it could be more problematic than for William, on the other hand CP Victoria of Sweden will marry this year at the age of 32, CP Mary of Denmark was also 32 when she married Frederik.
And again, Williams father was 32 when he married, CP Willem Alexander was 34, CP Felipe 36, so I still see absolutely no problem for William if he gets married in his 30's...

Anything can happen.
They can get engaged, they can set a date, but either one could still walk away.

For the past 10 or more pages on and off members of this forum including myself have discussed, when?
Christmas? thats gone. Kates Birthday? Thats gone. Valentines Day? Thats gone.

Whats left.
Queens birthday, 21st April.
Williams birthday, June 21st.
Diana's birthday, July 1st.
Anniversary of Prince Charles and Diana's marriage, July 29th.
Anniversary of Diana's death, August 31st.
Queen Elizabeth & Prince Phillips 63rd wedding anniversary, November 21st.
Christmas.
New Year.

and it goes on again and again.

I think William once said that he would get married when he was 30 or over, thats put it at 2012.

An engagement in November 2012 and a marriage in June 2013. After training, after the olympics after the diamond jubilee. It's a long way off but it's a possibility.

Neither of them are ready to commit properly to each other, in the form of marriage.

Of course they could choose to get engaged on a day that has no prior meaning to anyone at all.

I would say an engagement in early 2013 rather than November 2012 (due to the royal family's preference for no engaged couples over Christmas).

I am sure you are right Iluvbertie the whole royal family must be so so anxious to have Kate present at their family Christmas celebration,I believe the Queen can hardly wait, hold on, I think she has waited a few years now for this wonderful occasion.
Of course in the meantime, according to the tabloids, Kate has refused so many invitations to this event, one could almost think that she isn´t that keen at all.

We only have the tabloids that say that the Queen has ever invited her and nothing official at all.

Personally I don't think her spending Christmas has ever been discussed formally at all - maybe along the lines of 'family policy is no non-married couples at Christmas' but nothing more than that.

Sorry, irony is hard to convey in a post. I have no illusions about the famous invitation or invitations being refused, I don´t believe for a moment that Kate has ever been invited, nor do I believe that if she were she would ever refuse, that is unless she used the "only if I am engaged" line to try to force things along a bit.

Express.co.uk - Home of the Daily and Sunday Express | Columnists :: Palace concern at Kate Middleton in limbo

Quote:
“The reality is that it’s not much fun being William’s girlfriend when you’re so afraid of putting a foot wrong.

“Sure it’s nice going with him to places such as Mustique but her life is dictated by the Prince’s timetable. She’s a bright girl who hasn’t really been able to use her degree or explore her interests in art and photography. She feels in limbo. And there have been times when, as much as she loves William, she’s wondered what the alternatives might be. On bad days, when she has to think twice about everything she does and people stare at her when she’s buying a pint of milk, she feels trapped.”

He vowed not to get married before he was 28 and he says we'll have to wait a while yet, doesn't rule out this year, but it doesn't look likely.

If prince william did not want to marry kate, he should have told her long ago. 8 years is a long time.

I thought William was waiting until he was 30 (like udyusa said). Anyway, I didn`t expect him to marry this year. It`s interesting that he said, "You`ll have to wait a while yet" when he could have just said "you`ll have to wait and see." That to me says that either William isn`t sure about marrying Kate, or he already has a date planned for when he`s going to marry her, but it isn`t in the next year or even next couple of years.

Or, he could be saying that so he wouldn't give away anything to the media. I wouldn't read too much into what William says about his future nuptials (if there are any in the works).

If I am not mistaken, the "vowed not to get married before he was 28" originated from a throw away comment to the press on the ski trip just before Charles married Camilla. When asked by the Press if there was likely to be another royal wedding soon, William had replied that he had no plans of marrying at the time, and probably not until he was 28 or 30.

This was also the press conference at which Charles had famously muttered to the boys that he really hated "that bloody man", referring to Nicholas Witchell, the BBCs royal correspondant, and the comment had been picked up by a stray mike.

My memory suggests that although these two events took place on the same trip they were on different days - the former at a bar while the latter was the press conference.

I like how they say "Kate Middleton is not ready to get married either"
How do they know she isn't?
Just because William has said we'll have to wait doesn't mean she doesn't want to get married.
