I feel sorry for Kate...a breakup is bad enough and the whole world is making such a big fuss over it. It will be hard for her after 4 yrs of relationship + all the speculation. And imagine having swamp of reporters after you - can't even step out of the house with a swollen eye.

I was shocked when I heard the news - it was broadcasted in the evening news here. My first thought was that could this be a method used to cool off the media frenzy around her after all the talk about police escort or oncoming engagement.

No matter what, she will not be able to have a real 'normal' life. She may get on with life but she will forever be the ex-gf of William. Her name will appear when William found a new gf or when he is getting married, just like Eva Sannum in Felipe's case.

Kate is facing the world and seems pretty happy. Is she smiling because, as the the BeeGee song goes, "I started a joke, which started the whole world crying"? Who knows, but it will keep the press off their backs.:ermm:

Kate: New balls please!

BRAVE Kate Middleton rallied yesterday after her shock split from Prince William — by facing the world with a TENNIS RACKET.

The beauty, whose break-up from the 24-year-old future King was revealed exclusively by The Sun on Saturday, carried the bat as she emerged beaming from her London flat.

The Sun Online - News: Kate: New balls please!

SAD KATE WON'T LET SPLIT DRAG HER DOWN

KATE Middleton put on a brave face yesterday and showed she would not let her split with Prince William get her down.
As Wills began his single life yesterday returning to training with the Army in Dorset, 25-year-old Kate spent the day with brother James, 20.
Determined not to hide away, the pair left her family home at 10.15am.
Lips pursed, she hid her eyes behind the now trademark sunglasses as they drove off in their parents' Land Rover.

Okay, forum ladies, for just a lightheartedness from "THE SUN" the game moves on to:

Are you the one for Willy?

ARE you an eligible lady who wants to be a princess?
Whether you’re a commoner or a double-barrelled aristocrat, write your own lonely hearts ad to woo Prince William — and we’ll print it for you in The Sun.
Send us your pictures to print along with your age and we will ask Sun readers to vote for the best one.

well I think moust of the stories of Kate and Will were just that stories. We couldn't get a single statement from them, we could not know for sure if they truley had a relationship! I think we can ask: were they really dating????

Why must they (the unamed sources) and/or the press slam Kate's background? People break up all the time because they want different things.
Because they can't find anything in her behaviour to complain about. They appeal to the masses by inventing and/or playing on the class divide, much as they are inventing the knowledge that they have (or not) of the breakup. The gum chewing would have been frowned upon at any passing out parade, but how many of Williams 'friends' would have been at any of the other events?

Having a secure and discreet girlfriend has more to it than the idea of a potential marriage - here he had somebody to rely on, to cuddle, to enjoy, to trust. And he threw that away.... Well, his choice....

That's the typical reaction of a 24 year old. I don't think a boy that young is looking on someone to rely on.

When the marriage questions first started to surface. I thought that William and Kate were perfectly suited for each other but that William looked too unsure of himself to marry. He seemed ambivalent about his position as heir and he didn't seem to know what to do with his life and that didn't make him a good marriage candidate in my opinion.

Well now he's got a military career of sorts although I think his younger brother Harry is better suited for that career. So he's got some sort of purpose now but that is going to take him away from a steady girlfriend for awhile.

As suited as I think they were, I just don't think William was ready for marriage and I don't think Kate was willing to wait for William to get ready while he was off in base camp and the press was hounding her door. If their relationship had been lower profile and received less harassment in the press, she may have stuck by a mostly absent boyfriend and give him time to sort himself out but as it stood, I don't think she was.

she might be upset inside, bt its great that she is not letting the press get to her
go kate

All you have to do is ask yourselves why there are so many different versions about at the moment. We have the 'phone in the car park breakup', the 'Easter breakup', the meeting, etc, etc. Perhaps that is because none of them know what or when, I mean we even have Catherine announcing it on Thursday to her close unnamed friends! The picture from This London does not show a lovelorn heartbroken woman, it shows someone who is free at last!
Lovelorn match: smiling Kate plays tennis | News | This is London

She could be putting on a brave face though - but who knows...

Thanx for the article it is quite hopeful, according to the article. Kate and Wills have spoken on the phone and she has been given 'campassionate leave' from her job. According to one paper i have read she has headed of to Jamaica...lucky for some.

As for her career, maybe she will stay in the Jigsaw job. I mean it took her 18months to find a job after graduating. Maybe she is not that ambitious? Who knows...i don't think she necessarily took the Jigsaw job because of her relationship with Wills though. Also i find it strange that Wills as been made out to be the villan here, while Kate has been made out to be the victim. I think that this breakup is much more complicated than that to be honest.

Like some have said i like that way that Kate has handled herself throughout her relationship and the break up. The media stories are filtering out now, so within a week or so; she'll be able to get her privacy back - let's hope.

Kate and William have time to think about their future, and If They want to live together. If They want to tie the knot.

Well, despite the fact that I thought that they seemed to be a nice couple together and these wasn't the news I was expecting, what really annoys me is how William handled with the situation.

I'm not talking about him hiding himself in the army, but what really bugs me is that if he didn't want to go further with the situation, why let kate take part of some official events with him and the royal family?? If since the beggining of the year "it wasn't fun anymore", why let her pose for papparazzi with him when they where at the Alpes or at the rugby match.

He, and also his father, who might have been aware of William feelings (because everyone says the imature little prince always discuss his life with his father), shouldn't let things get this far.

I always take as a good example the way the Danish Royal family dealt when Frederik was having his girlfriends. And in the end, the only one who made an appearance at a official event was the woman he married. This is the respectful way of dealing with girlfriends when you are famous and expose them to the media.

IMHO the ending was humilliating to kate, but one can always say she knew the risk of dating someone who always gets drunk and acts stupidly when with his snobbish friends.

It sure it was the best for Kate, and I hope that Willian find someone as he wants, because the loser was him.

Finally, is it an european way of living to think that 24 is too young to sttle down or is the ideal age to party like a dumb teenage? IMHO after graduating from University you should be a little more responsible and not act like a brat. And i don't think it's too young to marry, actually, if you aren't a minor and law allows it, it's just one's personal choice.

I wonder if Kate returned the "friendship" ring Will gave her?
Just wondering...

I remember seeing a picture of her on another website and the caption said she was wearing the friendship ring. I can't remember the page so don't quote me on it:flowers:

Scrap that RachelD I found it! It was in the hellomagazine.com article: Still wearing a friendship ring given to her by the Prince two years ago, the pretty brunette bravely did her best to ignore the furore, quietly lunching with her parents and sister Pippa over the weekend.

HELLO! (posted the link if you would like to read the full article)

Well, to be honest, I thought after a decent time they would get married. I didn't like Kate in the beginning but she prooved stable, and knew how to act in public( in the occassions she was invited). So, this news surprised me.

But, if it's amicable, and her wearring the friendship ring maybe prooves that, then it could be possible that William will think it over and get back with her. JMO.

I guess I am tired of the William bashing going on. The official line was that they broke up amicably and that it was a joint decision. The other trash being printed is simply the media making up stories to try and explain the break up. The tabloids (I certainly won't call them newspapers) don't like the idea of not knowing the full story, and since neither William nor Kate is wanting to disclose that information, the information is made up. The sources are questionable at best. One reporter even mentioned that their real friends aren't talking. It is people who hardly know them that are wanting to spill stories. Yes it is disappointing to some that they broke up. Others are happy. To me they were both mature enough to accept that the relationship was over (and we don't know when that conversation or conversations took place) and they are keeping the details to themselves. They say they want to remain friends. Why can't we just respect that? Why do we have to make anybody at fault or guilty of doing something wrong? Why listen to sources that have been wrong so many times we can't even count?

Where do you get this "official" statement from? The critic's (including mine) opinion is based on the fact that there was no official statement, so the reports you (rightfully, IMHO) mark as "trash" were "invited". To tell something about William's behaviour out of the fact that there was no statement protecting Catherine's reputation is a valid reason. IMHO.

It doesnt shock me it takes a while before you get rid of all the material things you are used to when you are in a relationship. For instance I still have a couple of earings my exbf gave me and it has been 5 years!

Her attitude towards pics makes me wonder if this is absolutely true, I`m going with the teory it is a plan of wills. especially cause looking back at the races pics they look so inlove. Who knows?!. I will miss seeing Miss Middleton around

Does all this mean that now Prince William can marry Princess Theodora? It always surprises me that King Constantine hasn't engineered this union yet!

I'm with you on the William bashing. I think that will surprise some? or not? Anyhow, It's not all him, it's hardly ever one person's fault completely when a relationship ends. Nor is it usually just one reason it's over. Generally, it's a combination of things building up over a period of time till it reaches a breaking point. I imagine that's what happened here. Also, I believe the Sun's version of the breakup, that it was amicable and mutual. After all, Harry gave the Sun an exclusive interview recently, so in my book that means the Sun's authors can't be too far off mark. IMO

Now, I think William was being an ass the weekend or two before the breakup letting his picture be taken with the girls. I totally think that was on purpose.....IMO.

I will say this. IF it is William's friends bashing Kate in the media, and he doesn't stop it.....Then Kate would be a fool not to write a kiss and tell book and make some money. I really doubt that would happen, but if the trashing continues I wouldn't blame her a bit. William might want to think about that and muzzle his buddies IF they are the responsible parties.

The comparisons between Kate and The Princess of Wales is starting to get a bit annoying. I hope Kate can lead a somewhat normal life now that the relationship is over.

I don't know what happened, and I don't care to speculate but I'm glad it's over. I never thought she would be a good princess, she seemed to me to love this new found fame of being his girlfreind a little too much.

hopefully now he can hook up with princess Madde from Sweden and they can have a grand, glorious wedding one of these days.;)

The tennis racket comparison is nutty. I don't understand how Diana and Kate could be the only women in the world to hold a tennis racket....

If this is legit, it really saddens me. I especially feel so sorry for Kate, who seems to have made a lot of sacrifices in order to keep the relationship going. But I suppose it's better to back out sooner rather than later...

don't be sad...they don't know you either... reserved your sadness for yourself...lol

I hope it is not truth otherwise itt will be unkind of William to terminate their relationship over the phone.

Remember that the press likes to spice things up to sell magazines...or get our attention with the tabloids placed at the supermarket's checkout line. I am guilty of reading them while I wait in line

But I do hope things go well for Kate now that she is assumed to be out of the protective circle surrounding the Windsors. Until the next girlfriend comes along she will sure be hounded by the press. That brings to mind all the security issues involving her being the companion of Prince William. Come to think of it, all we read is that he seems to be the one who distanced from her, but what if it was the other way around? What if she could not handle all this pressure and, for her own good and sanity, decided enough is enough?
Some questions will remain unanswered and, if Kate is as discrete as she has been so far, the break up will be added to a long list of historical mysteries for others to decipher.

William is horrified at sneers about Kate's mum

Prince William is said to be horrified by the 'hurtful' attacks on Kate Middleton's mother following his split with his girlfriend.....

"A friend said: "William does not believe that anyone genuinely - or even remotely - connected with him would say such things and is horrified that these reports have emerged.
"He suspects there is a great deal of mischief-making going on - although who by, he has no idea - and thinks it is extremely unfair and totally unnecessary, particularly for Kate and her family."
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palaces sources moved to contradict reports that the Queen disliked Mrs Middleton.
"There has never been any meetings between the two and the Queen certainly wouldn't voice an opinion on her," said one.
A senior aide said: "The reports which allege that the palace was horrified at Mrs Middleton's socalled behaviour simply aren't true and are really quite offensive to all those concerned.
"To suggest that the Palace was snobbish in any way about Miss Middleton and her family could be very damaging. That's just not the way things work nowadays"

I bet he's horrified. All those nasty comments about Mrs Middleton are completely beyond the pale. As if we'd believe for a moment that he would have said something unkind about a woman whose hospitality he accepted not just once but many times over the years.
