I'm just not comfortable with how her own achievements are downplayed, and now that she's dating Harry, she's made it big. Everything she's done in her career, she has done on her own, before she even met him. Having 100.000 more twitter followers won't get her new roles. Her clothing line will sell more, I agree, but it was a seemingly successful one even before she met him.

I'm going to make a wild guess, and say, that Meghan might chose to keep her career as it was before, if it kept the racist, misogynist, and intruding people away from her life.

I'm thinking this relationship is far more serious than we're guessing, or Meghan might've walked away before Harry made any statements. I'm thinking this won't end any time soon, they're both very committed to this. Jmho of course.

If she really intends to be with Harry, long term as in marriage...she won't be able to keep her current lifestyle. The acting won't be able to continue and maybe not even the clothing line ASSUMING she and Harry would go into full work with the Firm.

Whole-heartedly agree. I think she would choose the life that didn't include the mass bullying as well considering she was talented, accomplished, and educated prior to her meeting Harry.

But that's not to say that benefits won't come from her new relationship. Just as the negative will comes as well. I don't see it as quite so black and white. Dating Harry will neither be entirely negative nor entirely positive. As with everything there is a mixture of both.

I'm not sure if you were referring to me or not, but I have not called her own accomplishments into question. I am actually going to be disappointed if she marries Harry and just becomes the 'model' of what the BRF would like her to be. I would like to see something different. I'll admit that is for my own rather selfish reason of just wanting to see a cultural shift taking place. It would be rather hard on her. To be clear, I don't blame any female member or the RF for being as they are. However, it would be so interesting to see a woman in a position of power be vocal. Of course, anyone is free to disagree, especially including Meghan herself.

No doubt Harry is serious about her or he wouldn't have issued a statement.

But to go from dating for a 'few months' to becoming a royal duchess is a long and bumpy road and in the meantime Meghan as a celebrity/actor can leverage her new found a-list fame into bigger and better opportunities. She's on the cover of this week's Hello Magazine as 'Harry's New Girl'

Not a bad deal if you ask me.

'Dream on'.. the future Duchess of Sussex [whomever she may be] will not be 'vocal'.. which is not to say she cannot achieve MUCH..

It's not a black and white situation. There are tons of pluses no doubt, but the negatives are huge as well. It will be interesting to see how this develops, for sure. Right now, I think, they're both serious about each other and this relationship.

Did Meghan give an interview to Hello, or is it just their own article?

Meghan is highly educated, had already a clothing line and has been involved with 3 high profile charities before she started dating Harry. Yes, now her name is in the papers, but that doesn't guarantee her any more success in her career than she had before meeting Harry. Having her name on daily mail would guarantee her spot on reality tv, but nothing suggests, that this is what she wants. I still fail to see how dating Harry will benefit her career, or make her more successful. Having her name dragged through tabloids just isn't a career success story.
No one is dismissing Meghan,s accomplishments, but let me just ask if you,d ever heard of her, or her show, before the news broke that she was dating Harry?

I admit I never did.

It is a double-edged sword unfortunately. All entertainers have social media pages and aim for more publicity. However, that will sink Meghan's chances of being Princess mighty quickly.
The question then is should she shut down those social media pages and become more anonymous because of her relationship that may *or* may not end in marriage?

Their own article. Hopefully no interviews for awhile.

Yeah, I've actually followed her career from the start of Suits. That's kind of how I found my way here. She's not an a lister or a big movie star, but Suits is a successful, long running tv show, and Meghan has done well with her career.

There has been a lot of 'She's loving the attention, she went from a nobody to a known celeb just because of Harry' all over online, not necessarily here. Lot of 'she got her big break now', which just infuriates me.

I don't think that anyone in such an insecure profession as acting should be asked to close down or go quiet on revenue producing avenues like blogs etc. After all she doesn't talk about her love life on her blog, just food, drinks, clothing etc. Meghan is still contracted to 'Suits,' which has ceased production until next Spring.

This is one of the dilemmas connected with dating a prominent member of the BRF. However, while they are still getting to know each other I think it would be a bit unfair to ask Meghan to stop acting or finish her successful blog. Making her Twitter and IG accounts secure yes, but how far can a person in show business in their thirties go in putting their life on hold if there is no marriage proposal in the offing, (and I certainly hope there isn't yet!)

I would hope no one will start thinking Meghan should shut down her life because she's dating a high profile Prince.

Remember that Harry has not put a ring on it, she's nowhere on becoming a member of the royal family at this point in time.

Let Meghan Markle live her life in peace.

I agree with you both, it would be really unfair to expect her to change her life around just because she's dating Harry. She has her full life built for herself, and unless there's a proposal happening, I don't see why she should change her life around completely.

I feel a bit bad for Harry, too. Dating must be quite hard for him. He seems to be passionate about many issues, and might find equally passionate women attractive. But once the relationship gets serious, the lady has to quiet down publicly about it all.

I think Meghan needs to educate herself very quickly about the British Royal Family and all the boring the duties one has to sit through when you become a member. As a member of that family [if she should become a member] she needs to realise her life will be mapped out up to six months in advance, with official duties.

It is such a pity they can't carry on a relationship in private without disgusting / overboard media speculation.

I was discussing the KP letter about Meghan with Richard Palmer on twitter last night (he's angry about the letter and thinks journalists have behaved appropriately)

When I asked if he was condoning harassment, he cited others who have said KP shouldn't have done this and mentioned Nigel Farage. I pointed out that it's not surprising the leader of UKIP would be ok with harassing the biracial girlfriend of a member of the royal family.

Didn't hear back from Mr. Palmer after that one.

Richard Palmer and others in the media need to get it together. Harry and KP let everyone know where he and palace officials stand on Meghan's privacy and racial undertones in the media reports. They need to show some respect.

I hope this doesn't get ugly. Don't agree with pap photos but she's walking through a gate at KP. I guess the madness begins for real.

Perhaps yes, perhaps no. However, I'm sure at one point the same was said about a British prince dating a bi-racial American. That's the funny thing about the future, unheard-of things can and do occur.
