Also the concert for Diana, and several charity polo events. Cressida has so far been a more private relationship.

But we've had several polo games and Cressida attended none.

I think it is sensible to let relationships develop away from the scrutiny of the press and public {if this is indeed what is happening.} The pressures are great enough as it is...

That's a good point.

You know, she could be a good sport "front" for his real relationship, with whoever that is.....

I think its more the media and public that are trying to marry Harry off. As much as we'd all love another royal wedding, I don't think its really a priority on Harry's mind but what do I know?

It'll happen when he's ready.

Harry may find a girl he loves but in the Britain of 2013 that may not be enough.
I disagree with this, Catherine's family put themselves out there, they are in the public eye. Pippa has her book deal, her columns in newspaper, the family have a multi million pound company, then there's Uncle Gary who does nothing to help himself. They are seen out and about, But if Henry ends up marrying a barmaid from Leeds, her families not going to be down in London dropping thousands of pounds in the nearest department store every week. The tabloids use the Middletons as canon fodder because they're easily available. You don't see Dave Clark's family trotted about in the front pages every weekend, or Eugenie's partner. You never saw pictures of Chelsy Davy's family except the rumours about her father.

I also dislike your generalisation of "in the Britain of 2013", most of us couldn't care less who Henry marries, most of the people in the UK only know him because of his Vegas stunt.

Hasn't there also been a rumor-actual story-something, anyway- about the Queen requiring a years-long courtship before approving a marriage? If true, Harry has years to go with Cressida before he could marry her.

Oh come on now. You know darn well that Prince Harry's been know to most of the people in the UK since his birth, and that he's been well known to the public for his entire life, particularly after his mother's death.

I agree with you that not everyone who marries into the family will have their family go through as much tabloid trouble as Kate's has, but you're really going to imply that Prince Harry is only known because of one relatively minor tabloid story about his vegas trip?

That's nuts.

I hadn't realized that the state school system system had deteriorated so much that the general public would not know who Prince Harry was. Sad state of affairs Cool Britannia left us I guess.

I think that's a rumour.

In my 15 years of education I have never once been taught the current royal family and I don't know anyone that has. Seeing as we live in the UK, it is probably assumed that we know who our royal family are. Not sure how this leaves us in a "sad state of affairs" when frankly there are more important things to learn.

Relatively minor? You are joking right? A naked Prince on the cover of every tabloid which dare, and practically every internet site you could find, is hardly minor. He was a laughing stock.

I disagree, you catch a stranger on the street and show him a picture of Henry he'd probably go who's that? Genuinely. People in the UK are not bothered by any other member of the RF than The Queen, Cambridges and George now. When Henry represented his grandmother at the Olympics last year, because he was called by his actual name people assumed he was foreigner. We're not taught the names and members of the royal family at school anymore, they're not of interest to people unless they do something outrageous. When Henry marries he'll get coverage, but people have lives to lead and unless you're a fan of royalty it's the celebrities that get people talking. If I wasn't a royal watcher, I probably wouldn't know who he was.

Actually not enough said, the curriculum in the three schools I attended have remained exactly the same under the Conservative government we've had in power since 2010. Your comment makes no sense.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Even here in the US, I think it'd be hard pressed to find a boatload of people on the street that could tell you the names of Obama's daughters. TBH, I really don't have a clue what they are.

Most of us during the course of our lives have had access to newpapers, television, magazines etc. We did not have to go to a class on who are the members of the royal family, they just are part of the fabric of the nation that gets absorbed into the subconsciousness. Maybe things a different in your part of Yrokshire but I doubt that the majority of Britons could not name most of the senior royals including Harry. If you were talking about the Kents or the Gloucesters or even the Wessexes I would agree with you, but I do think the general population can name the 2 sons of the Prince of Wales without having to take a class on it.

Exactly. Especially anyone who's old enough to remember the death of Princess Diana- I have a hard time believing anyone who was old enough to be aware of what was going on in 1997 doesn't know who Prince Harry is.

Your comment was in reference to the "state school system" hence my comment that I have never been taught about the current royal family. Nothing was mentioned about newspapers, television, magazines etc. None of which Henry has been in since his return from Afghanisatan, we've barely seen him. When Henry was in the newspapers, tv and magazines for his Vegas trip, everyone got to know him. My 80+ grandmother even got to know him.

Just to add, we get the big city newspapers, magazines and tv in my part of Yorkshire dear. Don't you fret for us with your derogatory comments.

My main point in this was that for Henry and his future wife and her family it'll be a lot easier than what William and Catherine are/been going through. Okay guys?

A laughing stock? From what I recall of the polling, most people, especially young people, thought it was all in good fun and didn't think worse of Prince Harry because of that story.

I think you're projecting your own rather disdainful view of Prince Harry and the royal family in general on the general population.
