Ages ago, maybe when William was named for the Thistle (?) I posted who got what and when in the family. Others have made similar posts, just not here. The Queen does not just shower orders. There are usually life markers that she rewards and she makes people wait long into life for much of it. We are a bit off topic, but there is a lot of this kind "who got that when" stuff on the royal orders thread. ;)

Yes, let Harry be a Colonel of one of the regiments and ride at the Trooping of the Colour!

The Queen might not 'shower Honours' but William hasn't had to wait long for his. He already has the Garter and the Thistle, and he isn't yet 33.

This is understandable with a very elderly monarch on the throne as no-one knows whether (God forbid) William could wake up as Duke of Cornwall tomorrow.

I do think Harry will get the Garter at least, in the next few years.

Prince Harry has paid tribute to British service personnel killed on combat operations in Afghanistan saying they "will forever be in our hearts" as he unveiled a memorial to their sacrifice. Dedicating the Bastion Memorial, inscribed with the 453 names of those killed, he said: "As we sit here amongst friends, we can take comfort in the knowledge that they gave their lives doing a job they loved, for a country they loved, and amongst mates who loved them dearly."

That one picture where Harry looks to be wiping a tear away...You want to reach through the screen and give him a hug. The memories that had to be going through his mind during the Ceremony had to be overwhelming at times. His speech though...Well done Harry. I especially loved the part where he said how the names of the Fallen were engraved on the Memorial in Gold, just as they are in our hearts. Spine chilling and so very, very true as well.

Is there a close up of what he wrote on the card on his wreath? For some reason, I'm unable to get links from the Daily Mail to work for me any more on my iPad and is more than a bit annoying to boot. Thanks in advance!!

I'm in London now and I saw her drive by. Or rather, I saw a heavily protected car drive by and I was told she was in the car.

I think he received them in a formal room of William and Kate's appartment.
It seems to be the same room as where William did his United for Wildlife video message.

You are right. And it explains why Palmer was so unhappy. Journalists want to get inside KP to write stories about Cambridges' apartment, their taste, their furniture (brand, price), etc.

P.S. I like that Harry uses their official rooms

Well, I think the press expected that since Harry was meeting the First Lady, some members of the media would be present. The same goes for The Queen and Charles when they meet VIP's and Heads of State at Buckingham Palace and Clarence House.
 
Do the press get reporters for when the Queen and PoW meet VIPs/Heads of State? Or it is just a pool photographer and a photo is released afterwards? Because that is what happened here with Harry and Michelle.

Harry's tea and biscuits expenditure pales against the cost of the Air Force plane with Limo inside that flew the Michelle, the girls and her Mom to the UK.

Usually only one photographer makes pics when The Queen and Charles meet VIP'.

? Almost. Funny thing is.. It was a British lady who told me and she was like "hmpf... If that had been the queen it would only have been 2 cars". And yesterday I saw two cars with loads of police protection so that might have been hm QEII. When right after that I heard and saw 5 or 6 police cars (incl unmarked cars) driving at Hyde park corner. About 5min. walking from where QEII drove.. Are you still following this??

And the only people paying any attention where tourists like me. ?

It could have been Harry- Kensington Palace is on the west side of Hyde Park. The U.S. Embassy is near the east edge of the park so it could have been Mrs Obama but I think they are in Italy now. Are Charles and Camilla back from Waterloo? Anne, Andrew, Ed and Sophie all have rooms at BP/SJP but I don't think that they would get the police escort that Wales family /Queen/Philip would.

It could just been regular police going somewhere. The royals usually have a motorcycle outrider and unmarked cars such as a Range Rover

No trust me... Police car, police motorcycles (whistling at people) to black cars (type Range Rover) and more police. Can't remember if the last ones were cars or motorcycles though. Seemed awfully official.
