No problem jacquie24.

I've really enjoyed posting these bits of info.

It's been really uplifting to see the support these games are getting.

I've come across lots of things I haven't posted - news of new developments in prosthetics and even simple things like better clothing for people in wheelchairs - promoted through Invictus. So much stuff tying in with the event.

Lots of Sydney schools have been involved - posting videos of their Invictus flag-raising, having workshops interacting with the Games mascot acting as a robot, and all the technology involved in that.

I think Harry and Meghan will have a massive welcome here.

Harry is tremendously popular - far, far bigger crowds for his solo visit than a solo visit William made.

Big crowds out in the rain for Harry.

William got great weather and I went along at the last minute. I got an un-obstructed view of William's speech with no-one near me. (Different story with Kate beside him a few years later.)

Harry with Meghan is going to be dynamite I think - and the Oz media will give us saturation coverage of any action they can capture.

Remember Kate and George being filmed across the lake in Canberra?

If Oz media can get a shot, or a quote from a member of the crowd that Harry or Meghan shake hands with, we will al hear about it. And then some. And then some again.:lol::lol:

The opening ceremony will commence at 7.30 Sydney time on October the 20th, and will take place in the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

It looks like it's going to be a great time in Sydney Axeyman.

Some of the events are free/open to the general public, and are taking place in the Royal Botanic Gardens next to the Opera House.

I wouldn't be suprised if Harry and Meghan do a walkabout or some such there, or near there.

I think those are days they are scheduled to be here in town - when those non-ticket, outdoor events are taking place.

Won't be long now.

A "Wellness Walk" is being tied in with the free Invictus events on October 21st here in Sydney.

Starting and finishing in the grounds of NSW Government House, there are two routes people can register for - either through the Botanic Gardens, (2km), or across the Harbour Bridge and back, (5.9km).

Free entertainment is scheduled within the Government House grounds beforehand, with a "Wellness Festival" being set up there too.

Afterwards there will be prize-giving, more entertainment and a BBQ.

Participants are being encouraged to also be spectators at the Invictus sailing and cycling events taking place at the same time at the same location.

If the weather is good, this will be packed.

It's a Sunday, and lots of families and big groups use the Botanic Gardens on that day.

And here is a schedule of what events are being held when - and also where, so if you're watching, you'll have an idea of what part of Sydney is being used. (Even Cockatoo Island is in the mix.)

Many, many trees planted by Royals in the grounds.

The Queen planting hers in 1954 -

(The twisty trunk on the left side of the drive, in the above photo, is her tree.)

And as it is nowadays.

Farm Cove, to the side of the Opera House - location of the sailing events.

(Government House behind the Opera House.)

And Mrs Macquarie's Road beyond Farm Cove - location of the road cycling events.

(There is a big Navy base just behind the Mrs Macquarie's Road area of the Botanic Gardens.)

Cockatoo Island is in the distance - if you zoom in, the island with the large chimney stack.

And this photo also has Admiralty House opposite the Opera House - where I'm expecting Harry and Meghan will stay.

The ABC is going all out for the Sydney Games.

Any Aussies watching "Australian Story", "Gardening Australia", even "Play School", ( a progam for toddlers at home) - will all have Invictus inspired content, along with other one off programs.

There is a one thousand kilometre expedition from Broome through the Kimberley region taking place, and this will be covered as well.

Yay!!! That’s great to hear! IG is going to need all the help with media attention as it can get this year since Meghan and Harry won’t be attending the entire week. It’s be a shame if it didn’t get the proper attention.

Your support for Invictus is wonderful jacqui24.

I was in a rush this morning and didn't add this - (and didn't check the dates in the other Sussex thread before posting there.)

More details of the ABC coverage - many programs, and ABC radio too.

Love the range of people the ABC is reaching out to - from toddlers, to gardeners, to people interested in scientific stuff.

Ninteen pages of ABC programming -

This will be wonderful -

The Kingdom Choir - who were so inspiring with their performance at Harry and Meghan's wedding - will be coming to Australia and singing at the Closing Ceremony of the Invictus Games.

And they have invited the Royal couple to celebrate their anniversary next year, when they are performing at the Albert Hall.

They also have an album out now.

And Braille coins now released in Oz, to mark the Sydney Games - $1.00 and $5.00 versions.

Good for them! I'm very happy to see this choir doing very well. Looking forward to seeing them at the IG, and I hope Harry and Meghan do take the opportunity to see them at the Albert Hall. It would bring all those wonderful memories of their wedding back.

How many coins are they planning to release for this IG? This is the third one I’m hearing about (maybe the two previous times are just two releasss for the same? But still.

These latest coins jacqui24 - the Braille ones - are for collectors.

A $2.00 coin was released to the general public some weeks ago - though none have come my way in change. (Not shopping enough perhaps.)

The new $1.00 is to also have colour frosting, and some of the $5.00 will be gold covered silver.

There is also to be a commerative photo book of the Games. Orders are being taken already.

And here's a photo of Harry doing Bridge Climb back in 2005 -

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/newpix/...00000578-6242829-image-a-17_1538722523629.jpg

That's Harry on the left.

Everyone has to get kitted up like this to do the climb.

Even the hanky you get given - sometimes windy up there and runny noses - is on an elastic band that goes around your wrist. Nothing is to fall onto the cars travelling below you.

This time he'll have our new Prime Minister beside him to raise the Invictus flag.

Part me is disappointed Meghan isn’t climbing the bridge with Harry, but as someone whose afraid of heights, I totally get it (though this might not be why she’s not doing it). I can go on roller coasters, but this? Nah. I’d be holding everyone behind me up because at some point, I wouldn’t be able to move up or down from the height.

That's a description of me, jacqui. I'd be saying thanks but no thanks to that experience!

I know everyone is excited for this year’s Invictus Games Sydney 2018!

Good on you Harry.

Long time Australian TV show "Australian Story" is having an episode around the Invictus Games.

I've just seen the promo and Harry has acutally filmed an introduction for the program.

The episode is airing this coming Monday evening Oz fans.

Here's the promo - (the top video.)

And a longer version of Harry's intro in the clip a few posts down in the Invictus Games facebook -

https://m.facebook.com/InvictusSydney/

And a convoy of vehicles is rolling around four states of Australia, raising awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

It will complete it's journey at the Invictus Games.

(So many different things tying in with Invictus.)

Sun Lion, I just want to say a big THANK YOU for keeping us up to date with the 'going ons' leading up to the Tour and the Games. It's always interesting to hear from people on the 'frontline.'

No problem JuliannaVictoria - it's been great fun.

I'm don't think I will see the couple in the flesh though - I'm expecting massive crowds, even if the weather cracks up. (Still very unsettled here.)

The area where Harry and Meghan will mingle with the general public at the Opera House will be open at 8.00am, but that is several hours before they will appear.

It will be closed once it reaches capacity.

(There will be security screening and bag checks to go through.)

I think there will be several hours of standing and waiting.

I think you have to go early to be sure of getting in, but plenty will.

I'm expecting plenty of helicopter action though - I live in the same suburb as Admiratly House - and there will be lots of noise whenever Harry and Meghan come or go.

The first official Invictus Games merchandise shop opened today.

Wouldn't suprise me if Harry made a quick visit.

Can't see how being stuck indoors - even at Admiralty House - would make them perky after the flight.

Despite being a rest day, best thing is not to sleep - especially if you got some on the plane.

Better to tune your body into the time of where you've arrived, and then get a good sleep tonight.

Thanks Dman. Just when I'm thinking I need to start looking for where I can watch something online, you're right there providing the information. :flowers:

Does anyone know what time the opening ceremony starts?

7:30pm, according to what I've read. At the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House.

For us in the US and the east coast, it all starts in two hours. 4:30 PM EST. I don't think I'll be awake to watch it but will catch it somewhere tomorrow if I can.

KP has tweeted a photo of Harry rehearsing his speech and Meghan watching from the audience.
