The Danish Prince Joachim had a royal laugh at some of the pictures from his travel with care. Mr Jesper Bruun Rasmussen was autioneer at the birthday of the relief agency 'Care', where the Danish Prince Joachim also was present as he is patron of the agency. The agency held its 60 year birthday and in this connection an auction was held. Dinners with famous Danish people were auctionend away a the highest bid

A note in Billed Bladet #33, 2010

informs us that Joachim will go to Africa in his capacity as patron fo Care. Here he will be looking at climate projects in northern Ghana.
The purpose of the project is to find new crops for the hot and ry climate there.

Our Marie will not go with him.

You may remember Joachim's visit to Mosambique some time back? Which unfortunately didn't get the attention it deserved.

_____________

I fear this journey won't get much attention either if Marie does not
accompany him. Joachim is not such a popular prince, at least in
the foreign press, so I doubt there will be much media interest
without a beautiful princess next to me - sad to say. Have they
added when the trip to Ghana will take place?

On Tuesday, August 17, Prince Joachim attended a seminar organized
by CARE at the PA Consulting Group in Hellerup, but I haven't seen
any coverage on that.

Here is the BB article - Source

Pity Marie wont be going but at the end this is his patron alone.
According to the article, he visits every two years, do we know why its every two years?

Joachim is a model prince and he would have been better as first in line to the throne. Pity he has had such a troubled private life.

How has it been troubled? :ermm: He seems very competent and has achieved a lot. He is a farmer, environmentalist, politically aware, educated, articulate - and has had two spectacularly lovely partners. And he is raising three beautiful children!

A first pic of Prince Joachim's arrival, the start of his CARE journey in Ghana:

Prince Joachim arrives in Accra, Ghana and is received by the Danish Ambassador
in Ghana Stig Barlyng, October 18, 2010.

Why was Ghana picked, rather than another country ?

Its always good to see Joachim get attention for the work he does, he is so often overlooked by the media

The fort Christiansborg in Ghana, was a holding ground for slaves, before being shipped to the Americas.

In the 1700's Denmark flourished as a trade nation, while the rest of Europe were involved in wars.
Danish ships quietly sailed goods to everyone and everywhere. That included slaves and lots of them.

Unsurprisingly that part of an otherwise proud maritime history has not been mentioned much in the history books until recent years.

Ghana has been chosen to mark the 15 years of the existence of Care
International Ghana!

Day 2 - October 19

Thanks for all the info & pictures so far.
I really liked this picture of Joachim, its quite a fun one.

I was very surprised that Joachim has been Care-Denmark's patron since 1989.............that is a long time, and he visits every other year

Summary of note in Billed Bladet #42, 2010.
Joachim i flydrama - Joachim in air-drama.
Written by Indius Pedersen (freelance).

When the Airbus with Joachim onboard were to land in Acra airport in Ghana, the captain spotted another plane on the runway and had to hit the throttle and go up again.
After circling around the airport the plane safely a few minuttes later.
Joachim was recieve by the Danish ambassador to Ghana, Stig Barlyng and said afterwards: "I've tried that before. So I was fairly calm. But it's certainly no fun that a plane suddenly go in another direction".

Day 3 - October 20

Prince Joachim visiting several Care projects in Biambong during his 10 days
visit in Ghana with Care. The farmers received 12 cellphones so they can be
updated with the prices on their products.

Pic 1 is my favourite of this gallery :) And it's nice to see that Joachim
was willing to wear those traditional clothes.

Day 5 - October 22

Prince Joachim visiting a village for excluded women on October 22.
If a village has decided that a woman was a "witch", she gets excluded
from the society. Care Denmark has created villages for women like
these where they try to bring them back to the her original village and
society that had excluded them.

Bravo, Joachim, and thanks iceflower for posting. And maybe the "air scare" explains why it was Joachim, not the heir to the throne, who made the journey!

I'm sure his loved ones at home will enjoy those fun and adventure pics as well :)

Wow! Since he remarried Joachim has gone from strength to strength.

Tall, impressive, committed, caring. A good and present father, seems to have become a besotted and faithful husband. He is articulate, and takes his agriculture profession seriously. He is helping bring relief to the hungry, the homeless, the marginalised.

He also seems to hold his own in any company, including the equally committed and articulate Haakon.

What a prince of the realm of Denmark. I hope Margrethe has plans to further reward him - I'm not sure what that would entail, but no doubt there is higher recognition, extra feathers in his cap that he could be given.

Wonderful galleries, thanks! Has anyone seen pictures from the beach without watermarks?

Joachim made the journey because he is the patron for CARE.
