The documentary was intersting. Marie seemed very descent, sweet, natural, optimistic like any other girl. I think one of the chanllenges she will face will be getting used to the press at the beginning, specially to all the rumours and stories they make up now & then, also learning danish.
but I'm sure she will get all the support from her hubby. love her english accent, I never knew Joachim spoke french, they were talking in french in some of the parts of video. I wish her all the best. ![]() |

I'm watching now. My favorite part so far is when she yells at Apple: "Apple! C'est fini maintenant!"

I liked Marie a lot after seeing the documentary. She seemed very down-to-earth, unaffected and more likeable than previous press. This is coming from someone who disliked her before, so I'm not biased towards Marie. While I still think there may be problems down the road given her need for independence, I really admired her frank and realistic perspective of what being a princess is like, how to be a stepmother, how to have a good marriage, etc.

I watched parts of the documentary and found her quite likeable although I think she can be tough when she wants to be.
I never saw the documentary about Mary (I presume there was one) and it gives you an insight into how much work goes into being a princess especially if you are from a different country. It will be interesting to see Marie grow into her role within the Danish Royal family. On a lighter note we know the church will probably have white and yellow flowers and greenery. I wonder if yellow will be in any other part of the wedding i.e. the bridesmaids etc. Last edited by LadyS; 05-21-2008 at 03:50 AM. |

I hope they don't have yellow flowers as the main focus in the church because Joachim and Alexandra had yellow flowers, that were the main focus, in the church and in her bridal hand-held thingy.

In the documentary she mentions the white and a little yellow because the church is so colourful and she doesn't want the flowers to compete too much - I don't know who the man with them at the church is but he suggested the green elements. Maybe the yellow will just be in the church - did Mary have her bright pinks etc in the church (I can't really remember). |

I just saw the documentary - thank you for providing the link.
![]() I really like Marie - but then I have liked her from the beginning. I think the way she approaches her new life is one that has a good chance to be successful. The way she talks about the stations of her former life was moving - she obviously learned a lot from her being only part of patchwork families from the beginning. I didn't know she has two sets of stepbrothers, elder and younger ones, from her father's and her mother's side but no 100% sibling. She has never been able to find roots but adopted to life as it came along. Now she seems to feel that she has found a man and a country in which to settle for good ans she seems to be willing to work for that aim. I really liked how she talked about Shakenborg to her mother and her elder brother, she stressed that it's away from Copenhague, that it's in the countryside and that Joachim is a farmer there enjoying that work. That the castle, while being a castle, is cosy and a home - she really seems to share Joachim's unpretentious lifestyle while on the other hand she obviously is willing to do her duty as a princess for the Royal family and for Denmark and its people. She appeared to be rather guileless and somehow I believe that's what she is - her first experiences with the media show this side of her and that she broke up with Joachim to think about what life with him would mean had a very honest quality to it. Yes, she convinced me that she really never wanted to be a princess but that she searched for an honest man to trust and to base a family on that trust. I wish them all the best. ![]()

Will the media have access to the ball? I know that only the Palace Chapel is open to the public, generally, so I'm not so sure we'll see very much of this ball which would be a real shame.

As a wedding gift, Joachim and Marie have received a bathtub which can hold 790L
The bathtub is 180cm long and 140cm in width. "Big enough for the whole family" as the article says ![]() jp.dk - Arkiv |
