Curious indeed. But with today's dollar value that equates to roughly $173,000 per annum.

Norwegianne, AFAIK the Danish Prime Minister told the press in an interview that Joachim will be given ~900,000 DKK more after the wedding.

What does she have for expenses out of that money? Clothes? Staff? Travel?

Here is a short clip of the couple on the balcony for Queen Maregrethe's birthday. Um, her hair specifically her new bangs, looks sloppy. Marie needs to stop flipping her hair every two seconds... such a bad habit. Other than that she looked lovely.

Here is a great photo of the couple with their monogram along with an article. Also, here is an article, with a great photo, from Billed Bladet in regards to Marie's first balcony appearance.

We now have a separate thread to discuss Marie's progress in learning Danish called, Marie's Danish Lessons here. Enjoy!

I have a better idea, let's wait until Joachim's and Marie's first public appearance or official duty so we'll have something to really discuss. This is after all a current events thread.

Thanks,

I know this is rather premature being as they are still on honeymoon but when will they start having events and a calender of their own with their engagements?

I know Marie doesn't have any patronages of her own yet and will probably want to spend the first few months at home getting used to being a wife but will she have to do any events alone or will she accompany Joachim first.

I was just wondering how they begin after they have got married.

Thanks

mary did a solo engagement not long after getting married. maybe the same will happen for marie, although probably after a bit more time, as she is not the crown princess.

i don't think they have any engagements scheduled just yet, but i'm sure they will go to the next ones (after the honeymoon) together.

It is The Royal Guardsmen's 350th Anniversary and The Danish Royal Family will be involved in the celebrations on the 30th June. There is a Gala Dinner that evening so I guess that this could be Marie's first offical engagement.

When Mary & Frederik were newly married Mary did the occassional solo event, but certainly, for the most part (very logically, to my way of thinking) the vast majority of her early engagements were carried out with her husband. (I actually miss this but thats not relevant here...) I think we can safely assume that it will be similar for Marie.

Now that Marie is back from her honeymoon with Prince Joachim it's time to get down to business.

First up: A concert with the Danish Drengekor at the Odd Fellow Palace in Copenhagen. Then, along with Prince Joachim, she will attend a reception for French Ambassador. Finally, she will attend the Rosenborg Tattoo 350th Anniversary extravaganza on June 26 with Prince Joachim. Finally, after a long hard week they can retreat and relax at their castle.

Only time will tell when Marie will tackle royal tasks on her own. One reason: She has not yet been selected as a patron for any organization.

Just a friendly reminder that this topic is reserved for the discussion regarding Prince Joachim and Marie's Current Official Events together. General news and information that may not "fit" anywhere else may be discussed in this topic, General News about Joachim, Marie, and Family.

Thank you

Billed Bladet has a bit more information about the concert. According BB, guests eagerly awaited the arrival of the couple and once things got down the business the audience were treated to a great musical and entertaining experience in the company of actors Preben Kristensen and Tomas Ambt Kofod and opera singer Susanne Elmark and Gert Henning-Jensen.

Marie and Prince Joachim appeared to be entertained, as well as the rest of the audience, who were chosen to spend Sunday afternoon at Schackenborg.

Sønderjyllands Symphony Orchestra provided the music for concert at Schackenborg under the musical guidance of conductor Peter Ettrup Larsen.

By the way there is a photo attached to the article. Click the link and there you go.
