I agree. Twins can happen more during advanced maternal age (Age 35 and over) because the body starts doing odd things so two eggs can be released during ovulation (which is what happened since Mary had non-identical twins).

Probably a good idea till they have gotten used to the idea of having new siblings. Perhaps we well see them with Frederik and Mary and the twins instead when they leave the hospital.

Regarding the comments about her figure, for a normal woman with 4 kids will have hardtime to get her figure back I think in the case of Mary having babysiter and personal trainings are very easy to go back to her all figure, specially if she didn't have c-section, she has everything she needs or want at her feet so everything it is easier for her than for all of us . Still she did a marvellous job delivering twins via normal way!so congratulations!

Whatever happens after this ashelen one thing is for sure and certain the struggle to regain the post baby figure we all have will not be Mary's. Life is so different here and what's for dinner and putting the washing on the line and so on aren't questions she would need to ask ..... so good luck to them and happy days

In Denmark we operate with the terms "Gudfar/Gudmor" and "fadder".
"Gudfar/Gudmor" (Godfather/Godmother) is the one holding the child and saying the name out loud at the christening.
"Fadder" is just a witness to the christening.

The Churchbook is a book in which all christenings, confirmations, weddings and funerals are written for the future. It´s the priest who do this or the "Kordegn". I don´t know how to translate "Kordegn".
In "The Churchbook" there are no difference between "Gudfar/Gudmor" and "Fadder". They are all the same. So it´s not the church that make this difference between the one holding the child and the witnesses. There has to minimum two and maximum 5 "Faddere/witnesses" and one of them is the "Gudfar/Gudmor".
But as we all know then the DRF are a bit special at this point :flowers:

My family has a gown of white silk with a yellow ribbon (to fix the bonnet) and a few yellow flowers on the long skirt/train. So it is easily used for both genders.

I'm Lutheran as well (but German). Normally we have two godparents, but you can have more than two. I have 3 godparents. They have the same "rank", so their is no difference made between them in advance. I am closer to one of my godmothers, but it developed when i was older, because she is living very close to my parents and she is my father's sister, so i'm seeing her a lot. She is also the only one which i call "Dote" and not "Patentante" (Pate means godfather, Tante means aunt).( "Dote" is the Swabian word for "Patentante". "Dote" is a bit more individual to me.)
The godparents (all of them) have to be christian. At least one of them has to be a confirmed Protestant.
(Protestant means in Germany mostly Lutheran or Reformed. Most Protestants would call themselves "evangelisch" in Germany and hardly anybody differs between the Protestant ways. So most churches are united churches - so both reformed and lutheran.).

We have light pink and light blue ribbons to adorn the gown and then a very old lace hat.

No, it´s not that different from what you have in Germany

It´s just me who can´t explain it easily :flowers:

But also here in Denmark all the witnesses have the same rank according to the church, but the one holding the child is a bit more special in the eyes of the laymen :flowers:

It's not something they take that serious...

I'm an atheist and I haven't been a member of the State Church (Folkekirken) for many years and nevertheless I've been a wittness/fadder twice. Once at a Lutheran ceremony and the other at a Catholic ceremony. And my own children are both baptized. (Of consideration to Mrs. Muhler's family). I was never even asked about my faith.

So I see this more as an honorary thing.

Only a thought on my behalf, nothing more, so don't start scolding me for suggesting the possibility of Mary having an abdomnoplasty in conjunction with the birth

Even if she had a c-section (and I haven't read anywhere yet she did) why do you think she needs abdominoplasty to tighten anything? I had abdominoplasty (after gaining about 50 pounds in 1 pregnancy, which required a c-section). This is a serious procedure to fix abdominal damage done during pregnancy and I don't think Crown Princess Mary has endured this problem from this or any of her pregnancies - she is very careful not to gain too much wait and stays active throughout. Just because you are pregnant and deliver (even via c-section) doesn't mean you have a damaged tummy and need such serious surgery to fix it. Mine was definitely due to gaining too much weight (from overeating) and I don't see Crown Princess Mary having that problem.

I always thought it is the other way round. Since so many people are confirmed and leave church as an adult, they started to controll the godparents before the christening. From my experience the priest asks for the certificates of christening and confirmation (each a copy of the church book).

Pardon me for asking but as a woman with no children I've always wondered... Are there some kind of belts or supportive garments etc. to be worn after childbirth until the skin and tissue on the stomach area firms up again? I do not mean to be insensitive but one would think starting exercise or just moving around again might feel a bit weird at first when suddenly there's all that excess skin in the midsection after giving birth.

I also think Mary is young and fit enough to be able to get back in shape without a surgery but then again, what do I know. If she needed some kind of a surgery later, I wouldn't judge her for it.
