In Denmark, you have to register the name of a child no later than 6 months after the birth. If you don't do that, it is said that your child will be given a name by the authorities. I have never heard of anyone who have experienced it so don't know what that name would be.

The child gets his or or personal identification number just after being born.

We pronounnce the name just lige Tyra Banks you know a famus model..

The name sounds like Thy-ra in Danish and in English and American it is Ty-ra

I really hope they don't call her Dagmar. I have said it before but I just really dislike the name.
Thyra would be very pretty as would Louisa

I'm still putting my chips on Thyra. It's a beautiful name, hasn't been used much and is a traditional Danish name.

Thyra Margrethe Ingrid Henrietta

I think in Poland the parents have only 2 weeks time to register a child.

Maybe they will name her Emma? I think that's a popular name in Denmark now. But I hate Thyra, awful name. The names of HH Princess Elisabeth are Elisabeth Caroline-Mathilde Alexandrine Helena Olga Thyra Feodora Estrid Margarethe Désirée.
So maybe Estrid instead of Astrid? But I still prefer Astrid, it's the best name for the little princess

I still think they will go with a traditional format of

Ingrid Dagmar Henrietta Margarethe

The only other option I see is to honour the fact tha Mary must have just had her pregnancy confirmed when they went to St Petersburg for the return of the late Dowager Empress

Maria Dagmar Alexandra Ingrid (the last name for Fred's Gran)

When watching my DVD of "A Royal Family" I noticed that Queen Margrethe pronounced the name as "Tew-ra".

Well, I think the Queen is a suitable source for the pronounciation of the name. The way you said she pronounced it matched the way someone else said (a Dane) said it should be pronounced: T- the "u" in the French word une - ra.

So I think that's our definitive answer. The name Thyra is pronounced Tew-ra.

I dont think they will call her Elizabeth as her first name because we already have a princess Elisabeth in Denmark(8th in line to the throne)

They don't need to have anything to do with each other. I can't see them naming the baby Ingrid, with Ingrid Alexandra in Norway. With the babies this close in age to one another, it's doubtful they'd give them similar or identical names.

But it's just a coincidence that the Danish Royal Family announce the name at the christening and that the Spanish royal family do not, so, IF Frederik and Mary have already decided their daughter to be named Sophie, they will not change it just because, 8 days after their daughter is born, the spanish princely couple get a daughter, whom they choose to call Sofia.
