BB article about Mary's coming visit to New York:

Kronprinsesse Mary i New York | Billed Bladet

It gonna be some busy days, especially the first day, tomorrow Sunday :)

As Mary's first event start already early tomorrow morning, I guess Mary will drive to Copenhagen airport today in the afternoon or evening. New York is 6 hours behind of Danish time and the flight time is about 8-9 hours.

Princess Mary must be one of the busys crown princesses .... And she always looks happy to see everyone

Princess Mary must be one of the busys crown princesses .... And she always looks happy to see everyone

Indeed. It's not without reason she is so popular. It's always a pleasure to see people doing their work with genuine joy.

Mary is in the company of both the Danish Prime Minister and other Danish politicians on the working visit.

Shortly before 9.00 pm. Mary arrived to The United Nations Building in Manhattan where she first held a short meeting with Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
A few minutes later it was time for the meeting "Global Leaders' Meeting about Achieving Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment".

I've had it with this Nordic cuisine routine, where Mary acts as though she's the cook at home. You don't fool me, Mary! :ROFLMAO:

Indeed, what a busy day. I hope there will be some time for her to enjoy NY as well.

Perhaps they should use Frederik more in that role? Not that I believe he is any better than Mary as a cook, but I know up to several ladies here on TRF who would like to see Frederik with an apron. ;)
And aren't men who cook sexy? That's at least what my wife tells me. - Hmm, come to think of it, wonder if she's had me all these years? :ermm:

Nice picture of Mary baking with the kids and their parents:
https://instagram.com/p/8J__YWMtr1/?taken-by=billedbladet

Mary visited the Nordic food festival in New York and baked with children from the renowned Danish chef Claus Meyer. And Mary certainly bring smiles on the faces...

- "Crown Princess Mary is an incredibly warm and present (comitted) person and it always throws a special energy to an event," Claus Meyer told Billedbladet.

Mary immediately began to create cinnamon twirls which chef Claus Meyer think was glorious.

*- "I was quite impressed with it. I had been told the program didn't involve time for baking and I can fully understand when there is 40 cameras flicked around. But she literally took the dough in her hands and began to roll out the dough and took her very good time to it. So it was yet another good experience with the Crown Princess."

*** I remember Frederik has said that Mary bakes with the children and that she especially makes some good coconut cakes (he called them coconut-something, can't remember the exact word) :)

I have noticed Mary always uses good old-fashioned note-books and pencil. And not iPads or computers. It's also in my opinion the best way to learn and not least to remember what you learn.

At The Maternity Foundation event last night:

"(...)And a special thank you to our patron HRH Crown Princess Mary for being a tireless advocate for mothers' global health."

I wouldn't complain :p
If I remember correctly, I believe Frederik said that while they were dating he was in charge of the cooking since Mary wasn't that great at it :whistling::D
And i think earlier this year, he commented about making pizza with the kids ;)

Thanks, Roskilde (and Polyesco).

I make those crocus cookies too from time to time.
- Especially when Lidl has a discount offer for three packs of ready-made cookie-powder. :p

Do you know where she is staying in NY? The Danish consulate?

Maybe these food events are a subtle hint for her to learn how to cook. HA!
Muhler would it be a coconut slice you are talking about.

Don't know.

These are variants of "kokoskager = coconut cakes", with strips of coconut either on top or mixed in with the dough.
Like this:

Or, and that's even more popular with children - and dads - and uncles, chocolate muffins with coconut:

And the all time favorite at children's birthday parties. Chocolate muffins with chocolate or coconut, and no doubt served at M&F's home as well: http://www.madenimitliv.dk/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/002.jpg
Alternatively this more colorful variant:

So, are we talking about the same thing?

:previous: Muhler, these muffins look scrumptious. Now I'm craving some chocolate with a touch of coconut :D. It's good to see Mary out, and about in NYC.

Today Mary is participating in full-day meeting in the High Level Task Force.

Crown Princess Mary yesterday participated in a all-day meeting in the High Level Task Force (Mary is a member) for the International Conference on Population and Development (HLTF). HLTF aims to promote and ensure women's and girls' sexual and reproductive health and rights in the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

So far I can't find more from yesterday. I could almost have predicted that a working visit like this with these long "boring" meetings from morning to night wont get much coverage. We have seen it before (; IMO a little pity that the media thinks we don't want to see also the more serious work.

Busy meetings days in New York. The flight home takes 7-8 hours, so Mary is probably back home in Danmark now or in a couple of hours :)

The man is Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kristian Jensen. I haven't had the time to watch it, so don't know if we also see Mary in the video.

Our treasured member, Roskilde, :flowers: has found this Facebook post by the chef Claus Meyer, who was baking with Mary: https://www.facebook.com/clausmeyerdk/posts/883913464995429

And this is his account in his typical style:
Dear friends,
The day before yesterday I went to North Festival in New York, where I along with my head-baker, Rhonda Crosson was to do a baking-workshop for children.
Crown Princess Mary dropped by and I received her in the festival area on Charles Street in West Village together with the festival manager Kalle and the Danish Minister for Foodstuff, Eva Kjer Hansen.
We walked along the stands together and in to the children who were preparing to roll out soft dough and knead remonce.
The Crown Princess, who through the visit was incredibly present and dedicated, was about to look at the children, but suddenly it was as if a Tasmanian Devil possessed into her. She suddenly told me that contrary to all plans she would actually like to roll out the soft dough.
Holy moly I thought. There wasn't even a chair for her, because the tables were designed for children. I asked: "Your Royal Highness, are you (formal you) sure you want dough and flour on your hands"? "Yes, I am", she replied resolutely, "It's been way too lomg since I rolled out dough".
She rolled like a pro, with an enormous surplus, while she chatted with children on both sides.
Crown Princess Mary soon got to the remonce. The butter was too hard to knead with the tools at hand so what to do now.
With thirty cameras in front of her the Crown Princess either had to quit halfway through the project, like most would have done or mess up her hands and nails in butter, granulated sugar and cinnamon.
Fortunately I spotted out of the corner of my eye what was going on and I hurried to ask her if I could help her with the remonce, please, so that it became a team-job. She thought that was a good idea. A short while later we had folded together the dough, rolled it out again and was working on producing the finest twirls.

On the way out I asked whether it had been a good experience. Mary replied legendary short: (In English) "Oh, yes, very nice to try it... (Danish) It was KONGE = KING" (Slang for great).

I was completely taken aback over that reply. But I couldn't believe what I just heard, so I asked the Crown Princess is she would mind repeating what she just said, to which she replied (in English): "Oh Yes, it would be nice to try it with... perhaps honey".
(Konge and honey does sound somewhat similar).

BT article based on the Facebook story: http://www.bt.dk/royale/claus-meyer-hylder-kronprinsesse-mary-her-bager-de-sammen-i-new-york

- Funny little anecdote. Thanks for digging it up, Roskilde. :)
