Usually I love what Mary wears. Not this time. It seems too casual for the event for one thing. I did like the trousers. A more formal blouse would have been nice.

I agree. I thought she would have been a bit more dressy, but she still looked lovely. I'm sure the recipients were thrilled to meet her, the scholarship is a wonderful idea in my view and Mary is quite popular here still.

Mary presented at grant to two Australian students at Copenhagen University. Stephanie Arrowsmith from Perth and Johanan Ottensooser from Sydney.
However due to a flower arrangement on the table more resembling a jungle, almost covering up Mary completely. So Mary joked with the photographers and played a kind of peek-a-boo with them.
The grant form 10.000 DKK to each of the recipients was presented and then it was time for a little reception, where the two students chatted with Mary.
Whom they afterwards described as: "...is much more beautiful in real lige than in pictures".

Stephanie has a Danish boyfriend, so she'll probably return one day as she put it. (Another Australian export it seems, and a very pretty one at that)!

:previous:Mary looks quite lovely. thank you for the pictures:flowers:

I you think the young man at Mary's side looked charmed by Mary - you're probably right. Cameron Hunter, who studies China Studies at the University of Sydney said:

''I was absolutely honored to meet the Crown Princess Mary. She is humble, she is down to earth and she is a beautiful woman that makes me proud to be Australian.'
It is just the most incredible experience to be able to meet the princess of Denmark and feel really welcomed and a part of Danish society. It is a country that I really love,''

that is such a sweet quote
nice to read

This noon, Crown Princess Mary met with the Danish recipients of The Crown Princess Mary Scholarship in Frederik VIII's Palace.

After the receiving, Mary, the recipients of The Crown Princess Mary Scholarship and UTAS Vice-Chancellor and Professor Peter Rathjen from the University of Tasmania posed for the photographer on the garden steps in Frederik VIII's Palace.

Thereafter Mary held a reception in the Globelin hall.

There was no press access,
but Kongehuset.dk has been quick and published a little gallery:

:previous:I just love this scholarship for Australian Students to study in Denmark, and Danish students to study in Australia. Great connection and experience

:previous: hmmm "such a sweet lady and family"
that would be really nice if they did. Maybe in the reception, at least Frederik

I can well imagine the twins, in particular, crashing meetings from time to time.
That's what happens if your workplace happens also to be your home.

I'm intrigued by the photo taken inside (see: Mary's daytime fashion thread), such a soft and beautiful interior and I love the mountain landscape painting on the wall... I wish it was in my house! ... Who's it by?

I don't know who's it by, but it was a wedding gift and it could be from Greenland.

As you know Mary presented the Crown Princess Mary Scholarship Award at home at Amalienborg. To be precise in the room called Fanegemakket = The Colour (as in flag) Chamber.
Here she received Australian students, along with representatives from Copenhagen University and University of Tasmania.
Apart from posing for the cameras down in the garden they had a chat as well and all that took a couple of hours in the forenoon. After a late lunch, Mary dropped her stilettos and jumped on a bike and pedaled down to the kindergarten a few hundred meters away to pick up the twins. The weather was great so Mary wore no jacket, so we can see she wore the same thing as during the audience. Josephine is seen explaining something to her brother.

- I guess the twins don't attend the same room at kindergarten, so they probably have something to talk about on the way home.

That's a modern down to earth royal. Mommy Mary just picks up the children on bicycle between two official duties :flowers:

And I see we see a Josephine with her arm finally free from the plaster. It's also so much easier to explain brother Vincent the way with both arms intact ;) They are so cute and lively, Vincer and Phine.

Thanks, Polyesco.

And the picture in Daily Mail: Princess Mary of Denmark transports her twin children in a cargo bike | Daily Mail Online

ADDED: I notice that Mary in the text is referred to as "an Australian treasure". Is there some special meaning in this expression? Or is it just a general compliment?

I think its just a compliment from the press, seeing that Mary is very likable (to most but of course not all:p) and seems to be charming

In the US, actress Sandra Bullock has earned the nickname "America's Sweetheart" for her very likable nature and sweetness

Yes its very lovely to see pictures of Mary and Frederik on their bikes picking up the kids. I guess they have maybe a year left before both kids no longer fit. ;)

That's what is nice with having your children in kindergarten only 3-4 minutes on bike from your home. Mary had an official event in the morning - although she again had an official event in the evening, she could jump on the bike and pick up Vincent and Josephine early from kindergarten after her first event and have a good long afternoon with them before her event in the evening :)
