Already tommorow evening Mary has a official event at home in Denmark... And she has even finished her working trip in NY yet :coffee:

Thanks Roskilde and polyesco for keeping us updated with Mary's busy and important schedule, she certainly keeps up a fast pace.

As I had predicted this official working visit has not gotten much coverage. It's a shame.

But with Mary and Frederik already in six days begin their journey back to the United States on their official business visits in Washington and Boston the Danish media have been waiting to travel to the big trip.

Mary? Yes she returns home in the few days between the two visits - and when she just reach to attend 2 official duties at home while. Such a thing could I, as a royalist, dream was spread more out to the people.

A video from TV2: Øllebrød til USA: Mary og Løkke i begejstring over Meyers madtempel - TV 2

While Mary was in New York and as a prelude I guess to M&F's upcoming visit, Mary with the PM Lars Løkke, went to see a show of very traditional Danish food.
One thing being "øllebrød" = bread in beer.

It's an acquired taste... Even though I got it on occasion as a child, it does not belong to my favorite dishes but many swear to it.

It's basically rye-bread boiled in beer and added water until it gets the consistency of a thing porridge. You serve with milk or cream.
It's actually pretty nutritious and full of calories and as such it was very much eaten by the poor or simply by those families that had twelve children and counting...

It's also a light dish, so you will get a good meal without feeling like you've just eaten a brick! Which is a problem for many in the morning, myself included.
And don't worry there is no chance you, your children or your dog will become tipsy from the beer.

There are of course variants of øllebrød, but how to make it?

You can of course get it ready made or as powder, but no, no, no - that is an absolute no go! Homemade is best.

thanks for enlightening us on danish gastronomy, mulher! :flowers: bread on beer does certainly not sound like my favourite but it is interesting to hear about specific dishes of different part of the world.

like the first skirt she wore, i liked mary's skirt on her last day too with its bold colours.

Do we know where she stays in ny, hotel or consulate

usually such details are not released, although we did find out where royals stayed for some of their official visits in the past. i assume it is due to security concerns.

in general, when we do find out where royals stay, they stay in hotels, but i assume that they do stay in consulate / embassy accommodation if they have the facilities to do so. there's probably only a few of such embassies that have rooms for people to stay in, so i guess this is not what happens for most visits.

in cities like NY, the press usually spots royals entering and exiting their hotels so at times we know where they stayed.

A good article from the serious newspaper Politiken:

http://politiken.dk/mad/ECE3393895/...-foedevarer-i-usa---foerste-stop-claus-meyer/

Mary tells more details, so if you have time I recommend reading the article.

Mary says among other things that she loves the Danish food culture and it was easy to get used to it:

"I can't point out a favorite food, but I'm generally very happy for the Danish food culture. There are so many different dishes that I like. I like everything from a sausage to the traditional Danish Christmas food," tells Mary.

While entering the restaurant Crown Princess Mary tells that food is something she and her family get's very much into.

"We live in Denmark so yes we eat very Danish. And we eat according to the seasons."

A summery of a brief article in Billed Bladet #39, 2016.
Written by Karina Didriksen.

Wearing a dress by Mark Jacobs Mary recently went to dinner at the Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, hosted by the Carlsberg Foundation Research Prize 2016.
The Minister for Education, Ulla Tørnæs had also edged her way in. (Perhaps she just got up from the coffin she sleeps in down in her basement? :p)

There were 250 guests and after the first two courses Mary went to the rostrum to give a speech and announce those who received the prizes. First in Danish: "Good evening. (Neutral/formal greeting) I'm always looking forward to this evening, because we pay tribute to science". The switched to English.

----

There is also an interview with PH about him being an artist. As far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with his mental capabilities.

indeed, interesting to see how they store 'historic' items and other memorabilia. specially since the storage of royal clothes is a recurrent question here in the forums. now we know! (at least for the most memorable clothing)

like you, i would have expected it to be more orderly too, but... i can't blame it, they must have so many items to store!

Is it just me, or is the dress in the bag actually the one Daisy wore in 2002 to Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee and not the one she wore to Fred's wedding?

Thank you Muhler, for giving us the opportunity to go through BB - very nice! When I read the article about John Donaldson celebrating his 75th birthday in Copenhagen, I wondered when was the last time he and Susan Moody were seen together. Could they have split?

These photos are from the exhibition, aren't they? I guess the items are arranged accordingly. I would guess it's not how they are normally stored.

It's Susan Donaldson. Moody is the name she uses as a writer.
I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere, that John and Susan were spotted together in Iceland last spring.

You are all welcome. :)

I wondered about that as well.
But perhaps she's simply busy? I don't know how well her books sell, but authors can be very busy indeed.

Of course - a mere question on my part.

Thanks for the remark on her name. I had no idea the "Moody" was a nom de plume. She seems to have quite a good sense of humour then :) . Susan Horwood is her real name.
