Thank you for the picture and video links, Roskilde! :flowers: Mary looks beautiful and the pictures of her greeting everyone are just lovely. Also I can't believe Frank Jensen couldn't count to ten, honestly what a let down :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if the tree will survive. We have a storm going across the country right now, with gusts of strong hurricane force.
If the weatherman on TV2 was right, you are going to be hit bad in an hour or two in Roskilde.

:previous: My thoughts exactly. The massive Christmas tree didn't survive the storm Bodil in 2013. Perhaps they had been better off postponing the whole palaver a couple of days or four :D

One more nice video where the Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, for the second time counts wrong down from 10  Mary had a good laugh like the rest of the crowd and she had to wait patiently before she could turn on the lights on the tree :D

Thanks, Roskilde. :flowers:

I can assure you we have been hit here in Roskilde now. Doors and windows are shaking:hiding: It must have hit Copenhagen now as well. I hope Mary's big Christmas tree will be still standing on Copenhagen City Hall Square when we woke up tomorrow.

:previous: Weeeell, I'm not a Copenhagener but some might claim that the mayor, Frank Jensen's inability to count is consistent with the way he handles the budget. :D
Of course I wouldn't say such a thing, perish the thought...:innocent:

:previous: Dont worry we have quite a few politicians that have trouble counting as well, among other things :bang::whistling:

But lets say it was just nerves and the cold ;)

Today, Crown Princess Mary visits The Children's House (Kindergarten) SIV.
Besøg i Børnehuset SIV - Kongehuset

During the visit Crown Princess Mary will be shown around in the Kindergarten SIV which is an institution for seriously ill children and their families. The children have a variety of diseases, including serious heart disease, leukemia and severe immune defects.

Crown Princess Mary will have the opportunity to meet the parents of the sick children and greeting the children.

Crown Princess Mary handed over the Danish Cancer Society Award to The Children's House SIV in 2014, and Mary herself has therefore wished to visit and see the kindergarten.

She is so good with children! I can imagine this is an event where not many photographers have been with inside - simply to protect the seriously ill children.

Thanks, Roskilde. :flowers:

They sure look frail some of these children.
When looking at these photos you realize that your problems are really pretty trivial in comparison.

Mary's authenticity and presence strikes me every time. She is just so much "there".

Thanks, Roskilde. :flowers:

Indeed. Also when you once in a while think your children are... well, you know what I mean... But looking at these pictures you realize how lucky you are to have healthy children. Starting your life with starting to fight for it is just not fair.

Like wanting to wrap them up and return them to the maternity ward - without a return-address? :p
Been there. :D

But at least the little critters are sweet when they sleep. :innocent::innocent:

I agree with all the above comments. I don't know what to say here. I have no words. Absolutely made my day.

BB has the same 8 press pictures + an article:

I think I was right with my feeling yesterday. This visit had only one photograph Keld Navntoft with inside - simply to protect the seriously ill and immunocompromised children for too many bacteria. These 8 pictures we got published on the DRF's website yesterday is now embedded as "Press pictures".

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #50, 2015.
Written by Ulrik Ulriksen.

Before leaving for Australia Mary visited the Children's House SIV in the town of Farum. This is an institution for seriously ill children and their family. - We are talking children who may not even live long enough to reach adolescence.

When Mary last year presented the Cancer Foundation award to SIV, she asked if she could come visiting.
The leader of the place, Sussi Olsen told afterwards: "The Crown Princess started out by going down on her knees and play. Many of our small children are pretty reserved, but she got through to them right away. She has a way that makes children want to go to her. It was unique.
In lightening speed she learned the names of all our eleven children. That in itself is impressive. Mary is a lovely person.

Little Marie, who was the flower-girl, asked where the princess-crown was, because the Crown Princess naturally arrived without such a thing on her head. Mary replied that it was only for the big dresses that she wore one. And that the princess-crown right now was locked into a safe".

There was a mini-concert and while a couple of songs were song Mary sang along with a child in her lap.
"Mary was deeply moved by the seriousness in our house, but when she came here she also experienced the joy in the day-to-day life".

The house is the only one of its kind in DK. I.e. a kind of commune for sick children and their families until they get better or...
As such it's very much dependent on donations.

Among the children Mary met was five year old Mustafa. He has lost a leg to cancer. Mustafa was initially a little shy but that subsided and then he asked Mary if she would sit with him. Sure. She then asked him if he knew the book Mustafa's Kiosk (*) and he had, so they chatted a bit about it and made snowballs out of dough. Towards the end Mustafa asked for a picture with him and Mary. A piture his mother took.

(*) I'll claim everyone who has children or smaller grandchildren here in DK know that book! And Mary having four children, probably know it by heart.

Thanks Muhler :flowers:

Mary is a delight with children and people. Mary handed over a prize to the Children's House SIV last year, and she had herself wished to visit the Children's House to follow up. Children can immediatley feel genuine warmth and interest.

*

Tonight TV2 will send their big Christmas Show. The show was recorded a few weeks back and you may remember Mary was invited as a guest, she got a good laugh when Martin Brygmann (a popular Danish comedian) suddenly stood on stage wearing very little clothing. Martin Brygman has met F&M many times - also in private.

TV2 has posted the clip from the show:

 It reminds what a now dead neighbor of ours said, when she told Mrs. Muhler about another neighbor walking around in his backyard wearing only his cap: "That can put you off thinking about menfolks for the next three months"!
She must have been close to 80 back then. :D

DR1 had a longer feature with clips of Crown Princess Mary at work in their programme "The Year of the Danish Royal Family 2015". A Crown Princess with something to say. A Crown Princess with a cause.

Crown Princess Mary herself describes it as: "It's a feeling that I want to do what I can!"

The clip begins with facts: "Crown Princess Mary is not only the DRF's most popular member in the latest Gallup's.. she is also that member the Danes think contributes most positively to the royal family."

I have this feeling that the Mary movie is going to be added into Channel 10 and their subsidiary channels' "go to filler" roster. I've already seen the movie a second time after it premiered in November (it was on a few days before Christmas if I remember correctly).

Anticipate a monthly screening! :p

CP Mary has had a couple of quiet weeks because her official visit was canceled in the last minute due to the terror attacks in the country. But then she has had extra time for all the preparations for this week where a tightly packed calendar with more events per days waits for CP Mary.

:previous: A nice little article from Mary's event yesterday from BB:

Crown Princess Mary was the modesty herself to large price ceremony:
Kronprinsesse Mary var beskedenheden selv til stor prisfest | BILLED-BLADET

Crown Princess Mary handed over - at the large event for 200 invited business men and business women - the prestigious Women's Board Award to Lundbeck Foundation CEO Lene Skole. Crown Princess Mary made sure to give the winner the jury's special reason in a speech that was delivered alternating in both Danish and English.

Mary who is known for her humbleness was the modesty herself during the speech and didn't want to seem too clever.

- I do not want to seem too clever. I'm just telling what I have read recently, said the Crown Princess and mentioned that she a few days earlier had read an interesting article that focused on diversity in management. Mary talked about it's important that female business leaders serving as inspiration to others, and that in every way it is wise to go for equality and diversity. Among other things because it's good for the bottom line in the companies.

************

Before CP Mary going on an official event it would be a shame not to bring pre-information about it. Because Mary is obviously not a royal who just show up and give a speech. The main theme of the event is the Mary Foundation's own work.

Right now, for example, Crown Princess Mary visits Danish Red Cross in Slagelse where she participates in the Mary Foundation's and the Danish Red Cross' network groups "Værket" for adults with prolonged loneliness.

Behind "Værket" stands the Mary Foundation and the Danish Red Cross who has developed an offer that allows lonely adults the opportunity to meet in network groups. More than 100,000 Danes aged 30-60 years struggling with serious loneliness, but the help services for this group has been very little and sparse. That was the rationale idea for that the Mary Foundation in 2015 established "Værket" - network for adults, a help and a offer for adults who experience prolonged loneliness.

In 2015, "Værket - networking groups for adults" has been tested in seven Red Cross local branches. The good results will now be disseminated to an additional 10 local branches and today HRH Crown Princess Mary visits a local branch in Slagelse to experience and see the work of the groups with her own eyes. In addition to meeting the participants and working volunteers, she will also have the opportunity to participate in two exercises that are part of the network groups.
