Juding from the last picture, Frederik must have bitten her.....:p
Okay, still a chilly day today.

Mary is patron of the Day of Research, which lasts not 24 hours but several days, from the 19-21. April.
In that capacity she presented the Research-Communication Prize on behalf of the Ministry of Education to a professor Albert Gjede.

- I'm afraid it doesn't say what the purpose of the whole thing is, presumably promoting science.

The youthful looking, curly haired man looking through the telescope, faking interest, is I believe Morten Østergaard, the Minister of Education - So far that's about the most useful thing he has accomplished as minister....

Thanks, Iceflower :flowers:

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #17, 2012.
Mary fik gaver til børnene - Mary got presents for the children.
Written by Anna Johannesen.

Mary arrived at Copenhagen University and were presented flowers by seven year old Ellen Storr-Hansen. (*)
Here Mary was observed quenching her thirst from a water bottle in the hot hall, while Minister of Education, Morten Østergaard (good grief) gave a speech and no less than ten nominees for the Communications Talent of the Year were presented.
However it was professor Albert Gjedde, head of the Institute for Neuro-Science and Farmocology and Copenhagen University who ran with the big prize: The Research Communication Prize of the Year, presented by Mary. With that prize followed a cheque for 100.000 DKK = a little less than 20.000 $.

Then it was outside to Frue Plads = the Square of our Lady (**), which for the day had been made into a square for research.
Mary visited the Malaria-tent, to learn about the developement of a vaccine against brain-malaria. Then a tent with nano technology, before she visited a pen with sheep, where she caressed a lamb: "Oh, how sweet you are".
Before going home Mary was presented with two decks of playing cards for Christian and Bella.

- No wonder Mary put her hand in the pocket. It may have been hot inside, but it wasn't outside!

(*) Flowergirls should always be mentioned IMO. It's after all a special day for them - and they are children.

(**) FasterB, isn't that were Vor Frue Church, which burned was located?

Afterward, Mary flew to Aalborg, North Jutland (I guess she flew, I don't know how else she could reach it)

Here she handed out the Research Price 2014.

And here a video where Mary is being challenged on her balance and coordination skills. One, two, three start.. and hit the glowing buttons on one leg without tipping over.

Now, Mary has flown back to Copenhagen, where she participates in the completion of the Copenhagen Fashion Summit.

Lots of pictures from the Research Prize in Aalborg today:

Video from BB: VIDEO: Nysgerrig kronprinsesse Mary ville gerne have haft børnene med | Billed Bladet

Mary said she would have liked to bring her children along even though they are a bit young. But it's good to stimulate their curiosity and interest.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #18, 2015.
Written by Marianne Singer.

Recently Mary went to Research Day at DTU = Danish Technical University near Copenhagen and here she was welcomed and got to listen to music before she was shown around at the exhibition there.
One of the things Mary was introduced to was advanced hearing aides. With the help of a mark in Mary's forehead a scanner could tell where Mary focused and as such filter out unnecessary sound in order to better hear what say a specific person is saying, rather than having the hearing aides pick up everything around.

At the exhibition were also pupils from different high schools and public schools and they were pretty enthusiastic to see Mary!
The pupils asked what she is doing to arouse the scientific curiosity of her own children. Mary: "I would have liked to have brought them here today. Because it (the exhibition) really help arousing your curiosity and it provides a little deeper understanding for how important research is. But in the day to day life it's about stimulating their curiosity, to be willing to answer the curious questions about how things work".

Mary also presented a prize to a professor medicus who specialize in infections.
