And ending this weeks summaries.

Billed Bladet #11, 2014.
Written by Marianne Singer.

Together with the Minister for Education Mary arrived at Sundbyøster School. Outside hordes of children were waiting with their phones in hand chanting: "Mary, Mary, Mary".
She shook hands with a number of the children before going inside to learn how the school has implemented a digital version of Free from Bullying. As such the secretary general of the Save the Children Denmark, Mimi Jacobsen was there. As well as the manager of the Mary Foundation, Helle Østergaard and the local mayor managed to slip in as well.

The school put particular emphasis on installing into the children that they should be good and considerate mates from the day they start at the school, in particular at 0. grade and Mary was shown how that works in real life by 0 graders from two classes.

After having bid welcome by the principal Mary entered the rostrum and her speech was partly directed at the children: "Goodmorning 0. graders". Who responded with a loud: "Goooodmorning".
Then Mary went on to say: "I'm sorry I'm not wearing a big dress. I could tell that it was a bit dissapointing for some that it is only a skirt. But perhaps next time.
Here at Sundbyøster School Free From Bullying is a natural part of your first year at school. You talk about what it means to feel left out and how you are a good friend in your class. You know that it sometimes takes courage when you have to say no on behalf of yourself or someone else, if something unfair is going on - And you are used to fetching Teddy-friend if someone from the class needs to be comforted. In a way you have helped creating a good and funny class from the first day in school".
Mary continued talking about how the new system works in practice.

Afterwards the children showed her a number of gettogether games and mutual massaging while listening to a story.

Afterwards Mary said to our reporter: "It's delightful to see Free From Bullying in action and to see how they have embraced it, how they co-operate and how well they feel when together. And as the teacher responsible for Free From Bullying at the school said, they are very fond of getting the digital univers".

Are the children at home at Amalienborg confident with digital media?
M: "Yes, that you must say. They are well vered in the use of digital media, just like practically all other chidlre their age. And the twins are sitting looking on over the shoulders and (they) already are in full control of the movements needed to control the iPad. That's very important because the digital will become an important part of their lives".

Are they thriwing?
M: "As all parents your biggest fear is that your child will be bullied or will bully someone. It's very important that you are aware of the behavior of your children; are they thriwing, are they happy, does their belly ache each morning. It's important to talk with them; to listen to what they have been doing at school".

Trangårdsskolen, where Christian and Bella are going also use the Free From Bullying concept.

BB has a video of Mary meating children from the local American National Hemophilia Foundation. VIDEO: Kronprinsesse Mary mødte amerikanske bløderbørn | Billed Bladet

As our long-haired reporter tells us, the children were a bit shy and practiced how to greet a genuine Crown Princess prior to Mary coming. And when Mary came things went smoothly.

Mary chatted with the children and parents about what they were doing at school and in their spare time.

This of course had an alterior motive, if you are to be cynical. Because as usual Mary is also helping Danish commerce. The Danish medical giant, Novo Nordisk has for years had a fruitful co-operation with the National Hemophilia Foundation.

:previous: Great :)

Perhaps this is a question most to the Danish members...

Now that Mary has an event at 9 am tomorrow morning in Billund, Jutland. When do you think she leaves from Copenhagen? Do you think she'll leave here tonight so she can be ready tomorrow morning or will she simply travels from Copenhagen early tomorrow morning (I guess about 6 am) so she can reach Billund in time by car. Or maybe she can take a morning flight to Billund Airport from Copenhagen Airport?

Don't think she'll go by car. That's three hours drive in the middle of the morning rushhour.
More likely she'll catch a flight to Billund. But my best guess is that she'll hitch a ride on a helicopter to Air Station Karup and drive from there. There are daily flights to Army Operational Command which is located there.

:previous:Nice, and Mary looks absolutely delightful.

Kronprinsesse Mary besøger lego - YouTube

The afternoon news at TV2 has just been shown. They covered Marys packing and had a small interview with her.

After Mary had helped packing at the LEGO visit, she visited the International School in Billund. That's why some of the pictures are from a school. That visit wasn't in the original/official program.

Thanks Roskilde. :flowers:

Some may ask themselves why there is an interational school in Billund of all places.
Because LEGO employ quite a number of foreign designers, constructors and administrative staff at the HQ and Billund Airport is expanding, which means more international employees.

Thanks MaggieDenmark, that was a great clip. :flowers:

Mary was interviewed about the backpacks and she hoped they would make a little difference and that the backpacks are also meant as a symbolic gesture acknowledging the children.
The items in the packback are partly practical, 50 % of all children arriving at crisis centres have nothing with them. But there is also a postcard from Mary in the backpack, basically informing the children that what they are going through is not acceptable, it is not normal and there is an alternative life. (It's a sad fact that when children have seen their mothers beeing beaten all through their lives then they understandable come to the conclusion that all mothers are beaten up). The postcard can also be used to write back to the Mary Foundation, where the children can give feedback and went their thoughts, in an indirect way, to Mary - a person whom them "know".
The items in the backpack are used by paedagogues at the centres to "debrief" the children and explain to them that abuse is not acceptable and help them with their emotions.

I'll skip the international school and instead go to the end and the interview with the flowergirls, Karla age six, and to the right Sofia age five.
They thought Mary was "pretty sweet" and "had nice hair".
Mary asked them about their school and finally Karla said that it was nice to meet Mary.

TV2 had a journalist with Mary in Billund and have this interview/article on their website: Mary til tv2.dk: Vold i hjemmet isolerer mødre | GO' (There are a gallery in the top of the article)

Mary:
- What makes the biggest impression is how tabooed the issue of domestic violence is and how isolated the mothers in violent families are.

Figures from the Mary Foundation shows, that every year, about 2,200 children arrives with their mother at shelters and unfortunately some of them return back several times.

Mary:
- We know that there are many repeat visits to the shelters. It's very difficult for a woman to leave an abusive relationship, it's a very bold step to take.

The bags contain besides toys, toothbrush, water bottle and more also a letter from Mary, and it has great value for the children, explains the leader at a shelter, Lene Fribæk-Jensen: "There's a very fine letter from the Crown Princess where she invites the children to share what they have experienced. The children are touched by it (...)"

Mary explains about the card:
- The postcard is a greeting where we show the children that we see them and then they write back to the Mary Foundation and tell what they liked best about the backpack and often we hear some of their stories.

Even though the topic was serious Mary couldn't help but laugh out loud when a reporter asked if it also is her who's responsible for packing the childrens backpacks home at Amalienborg?

- Haha, yes it is... But they must learn to do it themselves

thank you as always for the translations :flowers:
very important and difficult topic.
Im glad they focus on the kids as well, so the cycle of violence can be stopped.

That's a great topic to take up for Ultranyt. Topics from that (children's) news channel are now being used as part of the education about the society in my daughter's school.

A very worthy/important cause.

Thanks to all for the many links.

This is such a great idea that the children receive something that they can call there own as many come to these centres with nothing.
Mary shows great commitment, she looks great and I love her smile.

Free of Bullying's Facebook page says that Mary, as usual, will participate in the Mary Foundation's Free of Bullying relay race. It happens this year on 14th June in Fælledparken, Copenhagen and Mary will heat up with the children and receive them at the finish line with their medals.

Last year we saw Christian participate in the run, maybe we will see him again this year? And Bella too? :)

So is it today that Mary together with the Mary Foundation and Save the Children hold their annual 'Free For Bullying' children relay race in Fælledparken, Copenhagen.

When the children cross the finish line Mary will together with Mr. Beard (known from the children's channel DR Ramasjang) handing out medals.

Last year, Christian attend the race along with some schoolmates as a surprise to the press. I'm a bit curious about if Christian again and maybe Bella will attend today? :)

Here with Mr. Beard, very loved by children.

Mary said among other things: "Bullying hurts. Bullying is something we can say no to. Something we will not accept in our class".

A dad was overheard saying: "She bloody ain't bad looking".

So no Christian or Bella this year :)

It's a great event - a good way to say 'NO' to bullying together with no less than 1,500 other children and their families. The annual relay race has become a popular annual family event. We would really like to participate with our children too - unfortunately we have been prevented the last two years.

The next weekend the Mary Foundation will also held a relay race in Aarhus, Jutland.
Mary usually take turns visiting either the relay race in Copenhagen or in Aarhus.

Think I will post this little insider picture:

Helle Madsen, a mother, has uploaded her private picture from today's meeting with Mary:

"She oozes with beauty and energy Such wonderful day and experience for both son and mother (a very happy royalist)"

Another BT article:
Fire-årige Siri ignorede Kronprinsessens bekymring - Royale | www.bt.dk

About little Siri, almost 4 years old, and wearing a princess tiara. She was lucky to chat with Mary several times during the relay race.

- She said I looked really pretty - Siri told BT's reporter.

Even before the race started Mary spotted the little Siri and her tiara and asked worried whether she was sure that the tiara would remain in place during the race.

That was Siri sure it would, and she then ran the relay race in the best princess style and crossed the finish line still wearing the tiara on the head. Here she received another little chat with Mary who handed out her medal and praised her for both having been so good to run.. and to have retained the tiara on her head.
