Interesting. Wonder if they will use an open or a closed carriage. But perhaps this will be decided at short notice because of the weather on that day.

The purpose is of course for M&F to be seen and to see people congratulating Frederik, so I think they will as far as possible drive in an open carriage.

Any TRF members in Copenhagen on the 26th May?

Well, here are some news about the Norwegian TV-coverage of the birthday celebrations on May 26th:

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation:
Their second largest channel NRK2 will send live from 11:45 to 12:30 for the balcony appearance at Amalienborg, and from 18:55 to 22:30 for the gala dinner at Christiansborg.
Their largest channel (also the largest channel in Norway) NRK1 will send a documentary from 20:25 to 21:10.

The TV2 Group (Norway's largest commercial media company):
TV2 News Channel will send live from all the events.

On May 27th: No coverage, but almost certainly clips from the Royal Arena in the evening news on NRK and TV2.

Well, when there are royal celebrations in Norway, there is almost no interest or TV-coverage in Denmark and Sweden. - But when there are royal celebrations in Denmark and Sweden, there is always interest and TV-coverage in Norway.

Interesting, isn't it?

I dont think we will see Felipe and letizia. They will visit Armed Forces Day the same day and Felipe will visit Champions League in the evening
 
As the Spanish RF rarely bother attending anything I doubt we'll see Felipe/Letizia besides do we really want to see Letizia and Marie-Chantal scowling at each other at a party?

King Felipe and Queen Letizia attend that day the Parade of the Armed Forces Day, and Queen Letizia will have arrived the previous day of America ... therefore, their attendance is complicated, because the time would be very tight. In addition, Real Madrid plays that day the final of the Champions League, and for the moment King Juan Carlos who could go is still in rehabilitation.

Felipe is King, and he attended the birthday of Queen Margarita ... Frederik is an heir, he is inferior in rank, and there is not the same protocolar obligation.
The logical thing would be that as on other occasions, other crown princes and princesses attended the celebration (maybe king or queen where the princesses of the crown are young).

It is also true that in royalty there may be some desire to support Queen Margrethe, since Henrik's funeral was far from the traditional protocol and they could not do so, and that is why there is more representation.

As for Marie Chantal, this is not one of her fashion parties, it is a royal celebration with Queen Margrethe as hostess ...if she meets the Queen of Spain, she knows what she has to do.

I saw this too, but I got confused by google translation: If Mary is participating in the Odense race, shouldn't it be 1.6 km instead of 10km? Or is she joining the last stretch to Copenhagen?

There are 2 races, the mile and 10km, in all 5 cities. ´

The idea is to encourage people who have not been active to get an interest in physical activity. It was mentioned somewhere, that every 6th participant has never taken part in a run before.
 
All this running made me wonder: do Mary & Frederik have any other real interests/hobbies aside from the many sports they practice?

Mary:
Photography.
Reading (not that easy) literature.
Additional sports: Golf and riding.

Frederik:
Contemporary art, mainly paintings.
His big passion: Music.
Greenland. - He reads the papers and is well versed in what is going on there.
Being outdoor, experiencing nature. Sometimes combined with hunting.
Additional sport: Golf.
 
I really don't see Mary & literature as a combination - I mean for her own pleasure, not for work. Has she talked about this?

Also, Frederik & art? Apart from the artworks they chose for their new home, I don't see the love of exhibitions, artists, galleries, happenings etc?

I guess we should also add swimming & tennis to Mary's sports. She's a fanatic LOL!

I forgot that they both love nature... So I guess we can add hiking to the sports. Thanks Muhler!
 
:previous: Oh yes. Mary spoke about what literature she has been reading (I don't think she has as much time now as previous) in an interview I translated somewhere here on TRF 2-3 years ago.

As for Frederik; he is very much into art! But in contrast to his parents he doesn't talk much about his interest for art.

I guess must of his collection is hanging in their private apartment.
I also think there is a good deal of investment in this, so I imagine he sell something from time to time.

What a busy day! Im glad Mary is joining Frederik in the Royal Run.
Frederik joining and participating in each city is very great :flowers:

I would like to, but I have an exemption from the Ministry of Environment. The gravity is 18 % higher in the general area where I live, so alas...

Thanks for the update, have checked the calendar a couple of times today - but you are always up to date. I think this was expected and it will be nice to see them all at the events.

I am going to participate on the one-mile "walk-route" in Aarhus, Originally signed up to run, but due to health issues I had to change it to just walking:)

I hope to see Frederik and maybe even get a chance to congratulate him in person, but I don't expect too much.....A LOT OF PEOPLE are gonna be there and everybody wants to get a chance to meet him....I am expecting he will be swamped:D
