Tomorrow, August 17, HRH The Crown Prince visits the Invictus team in connection with Invictus Games 2018.

article
https://www2.forsvaret.dk/nyheder/o...keInvictusGamesdeltagerestræningssamling.aspx

"-We on the team are really happy that the Crown Prince follows us and that he comes to the training session. That means that we are recognized, the recognition and support of the royal house. And as we've talked about on the team, it's amazing that we really can feel the Crown Prince's sincere interest in the project and for us veterans , says Kim Wilsborg, captain of the Danish team."

"- Crown Prince Frederik is an incredibly open and honest person who meets us at eye level. He meets us on our ball or bow. It's about openness and honesty - it means you dare to break the taboo as a soldier. Because there are many whose body and soul hurts, says Pierre Skovgaard"

Thank you Polyesco for all the info and pictures here. That last picture you posted with Frederik and that young man, good gosh, Frederik looks like a young man of 20 again.....what is his secret ....:lol:
I was looking at all the people in the pictures around Frederik and he with them, everyone had such a wonderful rapport with Frederik and he with them. That shows how well liked he is in Denmark and how much the people admire him and the same goes for Mary. They really do make a great team for the country .......?

I think it is the artist's wife or family member. Per Kirkeby died in May

It looks like Frederik knew Per well and attended a few events of his over the years

Hope we get more photos

Special anniversary tomorrow, Crown Prince participates in the celebration of Frederikshavn's 200th anniversary celebration. Kl. 10:00

On September 25, Frederikshavn celebrates that the city received its merchant rights 200 years ago, and changed its name from Fladstrand to Frederikshavn after King Frederik VI.

more info on this event, where Frederik will place his signature next to Frederik VIII and Frederik IX

So he hitched a ride aboard Dannebrog?

Very economical. Frederikshavn naval station is her home during the winter months and she was going there anyway.

Frederikhavn is located on the east coast of Northern Jutland.
In 1814, we lost Norway to Sweden, after having backed Napoleon after the British bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807. Our arch-enemy the Swedes under a new and dynamic king, Bernadotte, took the opportunity to seize Norway.
Norway and DK had been a dual-monarchy since the end of the Kalmar Union in the 1400's - in reality Norway was a province under the Danish realm - but let's be positive and look forward.
The Norwegians were not particularly keen about joining a "union" with Sweden though. They were old arch-enemies and the Norwegians would much rather be independent under their own, and for the time extremely progressive, enlightened and modern constitution. So the Swedes had to invade Norway, and after a short but determined resistance it was over.

What's that got to do with Frederikshavn you ask?
A lot! Because all of a sudden Denmark had no major harbor in the north. Kristianstad (Oslo) was lost and so was Trondhiem, also in Norway. So a sleepy fishing village was elevated to a harbor and renamed Frederikshavn (Frederik's Harbor) in 1818 - after we had recovered sufficiently after the state bankruptcy in 1814. That also meant that northern Jutland, which had until then been a far away, low populated, poor and under-developed part of the realm got a much needed injection.
Today Frederikhavn is a naval base as well as an important sea link between Jutland/Germany to Norway and Sweden.

And that's why something that would be otherwise pretty unimportant as a town turning only 200 years is marked by the Crown Prince himself.

An update from yesterday's event, the BBQtech

the coverage from today has been great!
"After reading the thousands of local news about the crown prince in Frederikshavn, I have to say that it is so nice to have a crown prince who is as down on earth as Crown Prince Frederik"

Video of Frederik going above the railing to greet some people. I'd say he is in top form again
