Article and picture from Eb.dk Ekstra Bladet - Kronprinsen gennemfører Vasaløbet for tredje gang

Eb tells that Frederik began the 90 kilometers race early this morning. It's the third time our sport prince participates and completes the race. This man's physical condition is impressive!

Article and video from Expressen.se: Danske kronprinsen: "Det var hårt i spåret" | Sport KVP

Frederik interviewed by the Swedish newspaper:

"I'm satisfied, although it was hard out there in the tracks. But I think it was fantastic, a really good arrangement."

Q: How much has the Prince been training for this year's Vasaloppet?

- "Not so much on snow. But I have a "strength machine" at home and I have practiced roller skis. I'm also glad I managed to practice in the snow in Sochi when I was there during the Olympics."

Q: Many participants have complained about bad tracks. The Prince was never close to giving up during the race?

- "No, not at all. I needed to finish."

Q: Are you satisfied with the time?

- "Oh yes, I think it felt fine although the tracks were a bit loose."

Q: How do the Prince celebrate the finish in Vasaloppet?

- "Now I will enjoy something warm to drink and eat and then I will go home to my family."

(I smiled me through the whole video when listening to Frederik speaking his Danish-Swedish) :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for this; I am intrigued by your 'Danish-Swedish' comment. I am already in awe that Scandinavians can understand one another even though they speak different languages. However, when in one another's countries, do native speakers take on the characteristic accents/words/grammar of each other's languages?:flowers:

I think that's a question mainly for the Copenhageners/Zealanders on this forum.
It is certainly my impression that Copenhageners, who are naturally more exposed to Swedish and Swedes in the daily life are inclined to switch to a kind of Swedanish, especially when it comes to numbers. (In DK we follow the German system. I.e. when saying 23 it's three-and-twenty, while the Swedes use a system like the English i.e. 23 = twenty-three).

In Jutland and Funen where we are much less exposed to Swedish, we hardly switch at all. (When in Sweden both Mrs. Muhler and I speak Danish. Just slower, louder and repeating again and again until they get it... or switch to English).
Instead we are exposed a lot to German, and as such we have a tendency to easier switch to a kind of more or less rudimentary German. TV again being the great teacher, since many watch German TV, especially in Southern Jutland.

Thank you, as always Muhler! Do I detect a bit of the Swedish Danish rivalry in your response?:flowers:

:previous: Not in this case, actually :)

It's more an east-west rivalry, if any.

When we in Jutland hear (mainly Copenhagener) politicians and press-people talk about Sweden and compare DK to Sweden it doesn't make that much sense over here. We are instead oriented towards Germany and the rest of Europe.

Frederik indeed looks handsome ;)

Here are two HQ pictures... One of Frederik starting the marathon:

and a nice one of Frederik (with a gun) and our PM having fun in the lovely weather:

The news covered of course the half marathon and Frederik were interviewed. He told he was very tempted to run along, but that he this year has chosen to remain on the sideline as a onlooker.

**

TV2 has collected the highlights from today in this video and Frederik is interviewed about 1:10. He talk about what the race mean for Denmark. I have a not so satisfied baby on my arm, so I haven't the time to translate. Perhaps another Danish member will? :flowers:

A truly nice picture ;) (Even I know that many probably do not like Helle Thorning)

How many countries can this be done so easy in. To get a selfie with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the street. We were there and experienced the atmosphere. It was great. Copenhagen was almost closed down, the sun was shining and people (and Crown Prince and Prime Minister) was happy and very relaxed.

ADDED:

Here is the article: Ekstra Bladet - Danmarks spidser stillede op til løbe-selfies

Several runners get themselves a selfie with Frederik and PM Helle and other politicians and well-known Danes along the route.

43-year-old Henrik Sundstrup is the man who sent the picture of him, Frederik and Helle. He explains:

- I saw that they stood there in the beginning of the race, so I asked if they were fresh to have taken a selfie with me, and luckily they were.

- They laughed at the cloth I had on my head. So they didn't said much, but they were just fresh on taken the picture, as you also can tell from their facial expressions.

A gallery with some funny pictures of PM Helle trying to help Frederik with the gun ;)

Thanks, Polyesco. :flowers:

That fits fine with my little guess that M&F are in Trend this week.
The city of Esbjerg is also located in Jutland, only 2-2½ hours drive away.

According to the link of BB which will hit the streets tomorrow, they will.
As far as I could tell the whole family will gather at Marselisborg. But we'll see tomorrow - and on Wednesday.

In Jutland and Funen where we are much less exposed to Swedish, we hardly switch at all. (When in Sweden both Mrs. Muhler and I speak Danish. Just slower, louder and repeating again and again until they get it... or switch to English).

In America, we also have found the 'slower, louder and repeating again and again until they get it' method works well too. :ROFLMAO:

"I always think that entrepreneurship is a good thing , no matter where it is in the world. The fact that it is in Esbjerg , I only know that it is extra good. One thinks always that the only capital that can get interested foreigners , but we see an example here that it is not," says the Crown Prince to TV SYD

Wearing a black and red training set and neon colored shoes Frederik arrived this morning to Korsør where 400 school children and a host of journalists and photographers were waiting for him.

After the official speeches it was Frederik who held the peptalk:

- I'll give you three sentences from the Olympic spirit. You must give the best you can. You must respect each other, and then you must build friendships. This is the sport fantastic to do.

- I brought some (training) clothes with me so we can warm up together.

Then loud music turned on and everyone including Frederik made both jumping jack's and pommel horse's before they jogged a few laps at the stadium with Frederik leading.

very enthusiastic in encouraging the kids:)
